Dahlia's POV
After completing the paperwork and switching back into our regular clothes, I walked Brandon out through the police station's front doors.
"Dahlia, I genuinely thought we'd both be spending the night behind bars," Brandon muttered, his hand pressed against his chest as relief washed over his features.
I understood the real reason for our swift release. Without Lorena's luxury vehicle sitting in the parking lot, that police chief wouldn't have shown us such consideration.
A heavy sigh escaped my lips. "You should count yourself fortunate that the chief has never actually encountered Lorena face to face. If he had, we might have genuinely needed your sister rushing down here with bail money. Listen to me carefully - keep your distance from those types of people going forward. They possess the kind of wealth and influence that makes even government officials step carefully around them."
