The helicopter hovered high, eighty feet above sea level. The starry skies were bright and the clouds, so near Ava felt she could grab a handful, if she let her hands out through the window.
Next to her, lay her Alfred. He slept like he would never wake. He had grown thin and wan in just two days. His food had mainly been sweetened greek yogurt, mashed potatoes and meat balls, and he hadn't had so much of it. Dr Wilson had said his appetite would return gradually, when a new regiment of treatment starts.
