Chapter 35 - Chapter 35:Frying and selling fish to make money

"K-Klee, I wanted to ask, where do you usually store your bombs??"

Drake asked nervously, Klee's answer would determine whether or not he would sleep here tonight.

"They're all in my backpack! Oh... now they're in the room," Klee touched her back, only then remembering that she wasn't wearing her backpack.

"Is there any risk of them suddenly detonating? I mean, for example, accidentally bumping them, or if the air temperature gets too high?"

"Of course not!"

Klee felt that Drake was questioning her bombs, but she didn't know how to explain.

In a hurry, she casually grabbed at the air, and with a "swoosh," flames flared up.

A bright ball of fire rested in the palm of her hand, instantly illuminating the night.

"This is—!"

Xia En and Kagura's expressions remained unchanged—they either knew or had seen Klee use her ability. Only Drake's expression drastically changed. He recalled the scene of his confrontation with Xiang En that morning, when ng En had also created two fireballs out of thin air.

These two people actually possessed the same ability.

"Jumpy Dumpty bombs need the Pyro Elemental Power to detonate. That means, apart from Klee and Brother Xiang En, no one in this world can fully display its power. However..."

"However, there is a small chance that it might explode on its own, but the power won't be too high. It should only be enough to blow up a wall."

Towards the end, she seemed to lack a bit of confidence. In fact, she often failed when researching new bombs in the past, not only getting covered in soot but also blowing her room to smithereens.

She had received quite a bit of criticism for this reason back in Mondstadt.

But it was much better here. Even after she explained the danger of her bomb-making, Xiang En didn't forcibly stop her research. Instead, he patted her head with an encouraging look.

"It's okay, Klee. Kagura is living next door to you, and she can't be blown up."

It was a word of encouragement that let her work freely, although it sounded a bit strange, and Brother Xiang En was bitten by Sister Kagura because of it. Klee was still very touched.

"Klee will definitely finish the new bomb tonight!" Klee ran back to her room with high spirits, and soon after, crackling and popping sounds could be heard.

Xiang En and Kagura were squabbling as they went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. They didn't call Drake to join them, because the guy had paid over 3 million Berries for food today, which certainly earned him the privilege of enjoying one night off.

Drake remained in place, deep in thought. He looked at Klee's retreating back, and then occasionally at Xiang En, utterly unable to figure out why two people would have the same Devil Fruit ability.

Nightfall

Xiang En returned to his room and lay on the soft mattress, finally having some time to himself. As was his custom, he opened the Character Panel before falling asleep.

[Character: Shane]

Age: 24

[Race: Human (91%), Night Rabbit (5%), Elf (4%)]

[Ability: Conqueror Haki Awakening (%), Fire Elemental Power Mastery (%), Observation Haki Awakening (%), Armament Haki Mastery (%)]

[Time until next summon: 2 days (Summoning condition: 80 million berries)]

[Host's remaining assets: 493 million berries]

All abilities have been significantly improved, especially the Armament Haki, which has soared like a rocket, from less than 1% of yesterday's [Awakening] to a full leap forward to the [Mastery] stage.

Could it be that I have a great talent for cultivating Armament Haki?

But why was the speed of cultivating Armament Haki the slowest yesterday, and the fastest today? This was too abnormal.

The cultivation method and location hadn't changed. The only difference from yesterday... was that Kagura was present!

Xiang En thought of the key point. When he was practicing Armament Haki on the tree, Kagura was watching nearby. Could it be that the presence of a summoned character increases his cultivation speed?

No, when he practiced Observation Haki, Kagura was also there, yet the growth progress of Observation Haki was almost the same as yesterday. That didn't make sense either.

Xiang En was completely puzzled, so he stopped thinking about it, deciding to try again tomorrow. He slowly drifted off to sleep.

The Second Day

Just as dawn broke, a white pigeon flew in from the sea, dropping a newspaper into the mailbox by the door. This was a subscription Xiang En had arranged when he rented the house, on the recommendation of the agent. It came once or twice a week, and he would pay for it along with the rent at the end of the month.

Everyone else was still asleep, except for Klee, who had been busy all night and hadn't slept. Her new bomb was ready, and now she dared not sleep, afraid that if she did, Xiang En would cancel today's fishing plan.
