Chapter 23 - Chapter 4 - IRIS

Amid the purple mist that clung to the damp, square room, an old television flickered, frozen on a talk-show broadcast. A pink-haired girl, the keeper of magical butterflies, let out a delighted laugh at the host's joke—a man with a sharp jawline and stylish ivy-cut hair.

"Absolutely insane, folks—he's back again!" Park Tae Un, better known as DJ Bezboy, grinned at the camera, riding the hype with ease. "And today we've got a very special guest: the boy band from SPI, the ultimate wolves of K-pop, Wolves Kiss!"

The studio erupted in shrill screams, followed by a snippet of their new album blasting through the speakers.

Clap, clap, clap! The pink-haired girl applauded along with the crowd, beaming at the five handsome idols now seated on the studio couch."Wow… I never thought they'd make it this far," she muttered with a chuckle.

The host wasted no time greeting the members before diving into the hottest rumor swirling online."Word on the street is that one of the Wolves might be joining Shift in the coming weeks. Tell us—are those rumors true?" Tae Un leaned toward the leader, Ji Sanghye, or "Mr. K," the dark-haired member with a thoughtful gaze.

With a sly smile, K dodged the question. "Well, we can't exactly confirm if Shift has reached out… but who knows? Maybe tomorrow they'll give us a call."

"Oh? And if, let's say, they do reach out—who do you think would be the best fit for the D8 seat?"

Sanghye smirked. "Honestly? I'd say Juwon. He's got the cutest face here, which is a total contrast to Wolves' usual sharp image. He might blend in well there. Plus, he loves high places."

Juwon instantly waved his hands in panic. "No way! I'm terrified of heights. I'd never survive up there!"

Laughter filled the studio. "Looks like one of these wolves might be a double agent, folks!" Tae Un teased as the audience roared. Meanwhile, silver-haired Seokjin sat quietly, lips moving as if whispering to himself.

"You there, Mr. White—care to share with the audience?" Tae Un pointed at him. Startled, Seokjin blinked, then leaned toward the camera with a mischievous grin.

"Uh… now, I just want to wish everyone sweet dreams, and don't forget about us. We'll continue to make songs as always. Wolves will never let you down." He gave a confident nod.

KSSHHH!

A sledgehammer smashed into the television, glass shards scattering across the grimy floor. Darkness swallowed the screen. The pink-haired girl set the hammer down, then slumped into the battered sofa.

"A fucking load of bullshit," she muttered, twisting her jaw until it cracked. Then she opened her mouth wide.

"Gah~" A pink butterfly burst out, darting through the broken glass frame and into the outside world. It drank the morning sunlight as it soared past flying cars, descending in a furious dive toward a rooftop basketball court.
