Aghh!
Shen roared inwardly before standing up and moving back inside the small pavilion once again. His destination this time was the other bookshelf; he hoped to find any clues inside these many books about his body or anything of that sort.
His cheat was useless if he couldn't cultivate at all, and that alone irritated him to no end. As a matter of fact, he found out through the book of information that his father himself was merely on the Qi link realm.
At that point, Shen finally knew why his father couldn't find anything abnormal about his body.
'This can't be right? I can't just sit idly and wait to die and hope to reincarnate again; I have to find a way out of this situation.'
If Shen could guess correctly, the normal trajectory of this body if he didn't die was for him to kill himself one year from now, after everyone in the family finally realised that he had no hope of ever cultivating.
Still, Shen wasn't willing to accept such a fate, especially since in this life, he got a cheat!
He couldn't simply toss everything to the side and accept reality, not after he found out that this world had magic, and even vowing to never get atop the food chain and never die again.
Sitting on a chair next to a weird-looking plant, the guard spoke without bothering to even look at Shen," Those books, I realise you understand that you're gonna place all of them in their rightful places, right?"
"Haha, sure sure." Shen rolled his eyes inwardly but didn't say anything,' Move them back myself? This body would break if I do such a thing, dream on, old man.'
The guard was pleased as he nodded his head.
'Hmm? What is that?' As he was looking at the titles of the book and hoping to find something interesting, he casually spotted a small tattered bookshelf the size of a baby in a corner with three books full of dust and small bugs on top of it.
Curiosity piqued, Shen headed there and casually brushed away the long-legged spider on top of one book," How are the states of these books in such a manner?"
"Hm?" The guard raised his head from the book he was reading and casually cast a glance at Shen. Seeing the bookshelf in front of him, he immediately lost interest and replied with a wave of his hand.
"Those are corrupted cultivation techniques of people who wished to create other paths aside from mages; they referred to them as information from before the great separation, but they are instead trash, and none were able to cultivate or comprehend them in the first place."
Shen nodded but still decided to give them a read. He had Synapse anyway, and reading three more books is no problem for him; it can even prove beneficial while storing more data, as he was told to do.
Shen was about to slowly move the books to his comfy spot when he recalled his guard once again and casually called out," Eno, come here and do your work."
In front of the small pavilion stood a guard clad in armor, his expression was unsighty as he recalled the embarrassing deeds he just did in front of the patriarch's library's keeper.
"I have been working under the patriach for forty years and never in my life have I been asked to move mundane things before, yet this young master is treating me as his personal backpack," He tightly clenched his fists, frustration building up.
He suddenly recalled something and couldn't help but think,' Wait, master lost his memory and most likely doesn't know of my cultivation and prowess, and thinks of me as a mortal. Is this why he is giving me casual tasks such as this?'
Eno was already treating himself as Shen's bodyguard as he came up with several things that would elevate his status before he heard a voice calling out to him through the wooden door he was leaning against.
"Eno, come here and do your work."
Eno instantly strengthened his back, his face brightening up and a flicker of joy flashing past his eyes,' Young master must have surely hit a bottleneck in his studies of his cultivation technique and is asking me for guidance. Hmph, he finally knew my worth.'
Eno was totally unaware that his 'Young Master' was unable to cultivate and thought that he was merely slightly weaker than his peers, given his fearful personality. With his chin held high, he casually opened the door and spoke with confidence.
"Young master Shen, which point are you stuck on? Do you need help with feeling mana, or is it something you didn't understand about your technique?"
Looking at the confident guard, his smiling face that resembled a creep and his words, Shen couldn't help but laugh inwardly,' Does this guy think I'm hiding my strength or my personality is keeping me at bay and is hoping for that to change?'
Shen didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but he suddenly noticed the water soaker Eno, and his expression changed into one of curiosity.
"Eno, don't tell me you've started bathing in armor. Is this some new training method of yours?"
The weather was sunny, and the sun was shining even outside. Shen didn't know what to think of Eno's behavior.
Looking around the place, realisation dawned on Eno as he quickly explained the misunderstanding," No, young master, it's just that runes are placed around this small courtyard to prevent any changes in the weather from affecting this place. The technique is sadly lost, and hence none could replicate it into the other spaces around the mansion."
'No wonder,' Shen noted down the information in his head and asked Synapse to do a quick scan of the courtyard, and added to the file he created with the mansion of his family.
Right after, he casually ordered Eno to bring all the books in the last bookshelf while specially emphasizing the few books on the tattered small bookshelf in the corner.
