Eno suddenly felt that a knife was stabbing into his heart, hearing his young master's orders, his face turned a bit red as he took a quick glance at the guard chilling on the small garden's door before hurriedly going to work.
"Loser."
Hearing those words echoing in his ears, Eno's face turned into a tomato as he suddenly started questioning his life choices and why he placed himself here.
'The information I got from those books is not bad, but they are mostly about mages. I have to go to the public library later on and fill in the data with information about herbs, poisons, and all sorts of things,' Shen noted a few plans before recalling something.
'Oh, and why is there no knowledge about the powers right outside of this pocket dimension?'
From all the books he read, including the history ones, he found no information about their exact location, like which empire or kingdom, which jungle or sea. Shen had no idea...
As he was busy with his thoughts and making sure that all files were neatly placed with their direct names, such as cultivation techniques and whatnot, Eno finished piling up all the books next to him, with three of those books placed right in front of him.
Stretching his sore body, Eno was about to leave when he heard his young master calling out to him," Eno, wait a moment."
His face immediately brightened as he knew what the kid's request would be.
"Sir, which problem do you have? Do you..."
Shen wore a puzzled expression on his face and stopped him midway as he raised his hand," None of that, none of that. Just don't forget to take those back to the first bookshelf you brought from."
He pointed his finger at the dozens of books piled up a couple of meters away from him and focused back on his own thing once again.
Eno's face twitched into an unsightly expression.
"Loser."
Hearing that word once again from the keeper, he wished nothing more than to dig a hole and bury himself inside to escape such embarrassment, but sadly, this garden's soil was too precious to do so!
'It's fine, merely a one-time thing, I can tolerate this much,' He consoled himself inwardly over and over, and after a few seconds, he nodded his head with a new conviction in his heart as he swiftly made his way to the books and began his work.
'What a weird guy, but he is at least useful for now, especially since...' Shen's eyes flashed with deep killing intent for a split second as a thought surfaced in his mind. Smiling, he first decided to read the dozens of books on the second shelf before reading what he deemed the most important ones.
'Hmm?' The guard sitting on his comfy chair at the door of the garden right before the three steps leading to the greenery of such a small haven suddenly raised his head and locked eyes with Shen.
'Did he just?' A sudden thought surfaced in his brain before he shook his head in denial,' He can't be on that level, he is just a little kid.'
Shen didn't notice the guard's gaze as he was buried in the books, acting like he was researching for cultivation purposes before finally finishing saving the data of all books after half an hour and going to the main ones.
Phew!
He exhaled a deep breath as he glanced at the guard in front of him,' If not for trying to act as normal as possible, I would have been done with this small library in no time.' Shen had an annoyed expression for a moment before a joyous one replaced it as he read the title of the book, which was filled with dust.
Berserker Cultivation Technique...
Shen narrowed his eyes.
This title interested him if he were to be honest.
Given the bit of history he read about this world and the guard's words, he knew that a mage was the only available path, and nothing else existed beside it.
'Is this why he said it's merely a madman's words?' He chuckled as he took a side glance at the guard before immersing himself in the book. However, unlike how he usually does things in the prior books, he decided to actually start with reading the first pages himself before flipping through the whole book in seconds just for fun and curisoity.
The book was thick and dust-filled, its leather cracked, and Shen could even swear that he could smell a faint iron scent in the air.
'Very interesting.'
Cleaning the book a bit of the dust, he opened the first page and started reading.
Shen finished the first line of text, and soon his eyes narrowed into a slit and his heart beat quickened. Without much thought, he took the other couple of books that were alongside this cultivation technique and went back to his room.
"Young master, where are you going?" Eno saw the kid carrying three heavy books, barely walking, and he couldn't help but feel the need to carry them for him.
'Ehm, why am I leaving like a thief? Isn't my father the patriarch?' Shen slapped his forehead as he recalled his identity after his guard uttered 'young master' and went back to the garden.
Why need to leave when you can kick everyone out of the small pavilion, right?
Reaching such a conclusion, Shen ordered both guards to wander off since he needed to start cultivation, and Eno to keep guard on the door without letting anyone in.
The library's keeper was about to complain, but when Eno told him that he had all right to use the library as he wished, he chose to brush it off and went to do his thing; he was muttering under his breath all the way to the door.
Shen paid him no heed as he sat cross-legged under the apple tree and opened the first page once again, his eyes flickering with utmost joy as he read through the text.
