Chapter 3 - Crafting A Railgun

"I indeed have someone watching over you.

What did you think? That I will just let you go around plunging the city into chaos?"

The older man looked at the teenager not knowing what to do with this kids behavior, as he ran his hands through his hair that now has streaks of gray in it.

Despite the fact that the man looked quite annoyed, but deep down he is very proud of his son's audacity. A lion does not raise a sheep— it will be quite disappointing if his son doesn't even have that much courage.

"I refuse to be identified as a kid, and this ends today.

Whatever happens to me should be, if anything bad does happen then it's because of my incompetence.

I will not be protected like a kid, I create the protection itself."

Avalon looked his dad dead in the eyes without a hint of weakness.

"Alright, if you can achieve something monumental, I will allow you on your quest, but if you can't…

I decide whether your achievement is monumental or not, so deal with it!"

"You know what?

I accept your challenge, just make sure you don't get a heart attack when this happens though.

Remember, eat well and keep your heart in a healthy condition."

Avalon turned towards the door, as he prepared to head out.

"Oh, thanks for the concern young man, but your pops isn't having any health condition currently.

I am just stressed out a bit."

A smile bloomed on the man's face, as he could feel the heartfelt concern from his son, despite his fierce approach.

"Nah, you can take care of yourself old man. Why should I be concerned about you?"

Avalon walked out of the door, heading towards the spiraling stairs, as he faded from view.

"Natasha, keep an eye on him though."

Jake muttered out as he stared at the door entrance.

"No need to repeat yourself, it turns out his senses are quite sharp."

A feminine voice rang out, as a figure stepped out from the dark window balcony.

"Wow! You rarely compliment people, so you do see his potential don't you?"

Jake chuckled, as he walked towards the transparent fridge in the room and took out a wine bottle.

"It's not a compliment, that's just my observation.

There is no need to hype things up to such level."

The figure came fully into the light, as a beautiful young lady with a slender figure and dangerous curves stared at that same door entrance.

The black body suit she wears accented her form sharply, as she gives of the aura of a poisonous rose.

"Indeed, your compliment has levels, what an impressive evaluation scheme you have going on."

Jake popped the wine looking quite used to her manner of speech already.

He poured the wine in the two cups he took from the top cabinet above the fridge.

"Will you like some wine?"

Jake offered as he stared at the wine bottle, making sure he didn't get scammed into buying a fake one.

"No thank you, not in the mood for wine right now."

The lady in black stepped back into the balcony, fading into the dark like a mirage.

"They might make a great couple."

Jake chuckles softly, as he pictured the scene in his head.

He turned to the blue crystalline table, but the wine bottle was missing, as it seemed to have disappeared into thin air.

In a hidden room underground, a young man with crazy golden hair is surrounded by holographic projections, as the display shows various projections of blueprints and schematics.

On a hexagonal platform that occupies half of the space, a containment field pulses with faint transparent wisps, as it isolates whatever reaction that might occur within it.

Tisss!

With a depressurized hiss, a cylindrical chamber opens up, as water vapor escaped from the vents in the machine, causing a partial fog before dispersing into the air.

Avalon stripped to his underwear and stepped into the chamber.

"Initiate sterilization protocol."

Hummm!

A low mechanical hum rang out, as the transparent cover slid over the chamber before becoming clouded with mist.

Rays of light beamed on him, as they scanned him from head to toe, with the water vapor visibly oscillating within the chamber.

'Sterilization Protocol Completed'

A cool synthetic voice rang out as the cover automatically recedes into the machine. But this time all the vapors were contained.

He walked out of the machine and equipped a sterile suit before stepping onto the hexagonal platform.

"What is the estimated success rate for this experiment?"

He gazed upward to the bright star petal lights, as each of their rays beamed down to the platform in a controlled shape.

'According to my calculations, it may not necessarily succeed due to the fact that the circuit relays are not complete.

The estimated success rate ranges from forty to fifty percent.

The Ai's response seems a bit dissuading, but despite all the odds, he doesn't care at all.

"Let's just call you Beatrix and stop the awkward chat"

He is quite dissatisfied by the neutral tone, so he might as well just give it a personality.

'I appreciate your effort towards my evolution!'

The voice subtly turned feminine and towards the end of the sentence it became fully solidified.

He might not know this, but this is one of the best decision he has ever made.

"No problem. I created you to be my partner and you must fully serve that purpose as you aid me on my quest!"

He doesn't know why he is obsessed with escaping the feeling of containment, but he do knows that to carve his name among the stars requires a bold step many may never take.

The projection of a gun appears in mid air, as he rapidly tapped and swiped to connect the logic.

The weapon extends outward in stylish design, featuring multiple edges that points inward like icy daggers, giving the weapon a fierce and cold aura.

The barrel opens up in a cross shape, as arcs of electricity flickered from one edge of the cross to another.

"Let's unleash this bad boy, shall we!"
