Chapter 6 - Mysterious Space Facility

The man with glasses was left speechless, then his expression gradually turned annoyed. He almost retorted to Avalon's claim, but a bone chilling glare from the young man shut him up.

Avalon knew the man was deliberately targeting him, thinking that he was some gullible youth that can be deceived with scraps, and then, they get the credit for what they never did.

The killing intent in his gaze was not hidden at all, he knew how these bastards behave and he was having non of it.

The vice mayor was also surprised by the intensity of the young man, as he stepped in to deescalate the situation.

"Alright, Avalon, right?

Let's finalize our deal privately."

The mayor chuckled a bit, thinking it was settled not knowing that it just got worse.

Then it happened!

"Why do people get angry when you don't allow them to use you?"

Avalon slowly turned his head as he gazed back at the vice mayor, his tone calm, but the surging undercurrent made a chill run down the spine of the old man.

The vice mayor knew Avalon was not referring to him, but still could not help but feel uneasy, as the young man carries a dangerous presence that made even the troublesome individuals silent. It felt unreal.

"Lets complete our deal then."

Avalon stood up, as the old man also wants to be done with this man as soon as possible to avoid more emotional damages.

The unruly officials where fuming on the inside, but they still didn't voice it out, as Avalon was never a simple teen to begin with.

The young man with a cold gaze stretched his body, releasing the built up fatigue, these boring discussions really left a tasteless feeling in his mind. He had to bear that though, as it was required for his goals.

"Hypocritical fools!"

He muttered under his breath, as he flagged a taxi.

Avalon gazed at the night life from the taxi, as he recollected a lot of the events that had happened so far.

'Oh I forgot the USB drive.'

He took out the sleek hardware and tapped rapidly on his Holo Watch.

Switch!

Zing!

Mechanical clicks rang out, as a rectangular groove appeared in the middle of the Holo Watch.

Click!

With a satisfying feedback he slot the USB into the groove, and a dark projection appeared in mid air.

Cold metallic structures appeared all over the screen, as the overall layout connects together like puzzle pieces. The network of structures are interconnected in ways that hints at the fact that it might be a factory.

Stellar Mining Inc.

Halo Ex44:

Mining Station.

Resource Deposit: Classified.

Rows of text appeared on the Holo interface, as he quickly backed up everything incase the data self-destruct after viewed.

He was quite surprised, as this seems to be a data log of a particular corporation.

'What was such a confidential information doing in a trash can.'

He can vividly remember spilling a trash can and coincidentally finding the USB drive in it.

The data log continued as a scene of a vast expanse dyed by an Azure nebula appears, then everything swirled into a whirlpool, locking onto a gigantic structure in space. It stretches over many kilometers, made up of multiple segments, as gigantic spherical tanks can be seen on some part of the factory.

The entire scene felt surreal like something out of a painting, but he knew that beautiful environments like this often house the greatest danger.

It felt like something was staring at him through the screen, making his blood run cold.

Log Input: Alpha

Star Date: October 5th 3030:

1st Entry:

The factory is finally operational, nice one!

2nd Entry:

I knew my foresight was the best. The location is just perfect.

3rd Entry:

Darn it!

Despite the cost it took to build the factory the deposit is running out. I will be so cooked if I don't give a response to the higher ups!

4th Entry:

I take my previous words back, I was never that intelligent. There is no do over now, the ore is finished.

5th Entry:

The cost of operations is not worth it anymore, I guess is time to abandon this factory.

The Log Entry stopped, then a young man in lab coat and glasses appeared, as he waved at the screen, it was obviously a recorded message.

"I know that you may have a lot of questions, but first I am Nelson Sullivan, I am in charge of the Halo project to mine and study a special ore deposit called Futherm crystals.

Initially the high ups were Interested due to how the crystal emits a high thermal radiation, yet maintained an unbelievably cold core.

But sadly they couldn't find much use for it, as there are cleaner an stable energy factors in the universe. The deposit was little to begin with anyways, so the project was a regret.

They couldn't find a critical use but that didn't mean I did not!"

Avalon was so engrossed in the feed that he forgot he had already arrived at his destination, as he continues staying in the vehicle despite the piling charges.

"If you want to know the results of my experiments, head to the facility and you will discover the truth.

I will rather let a random stranger access my results than those greedy high ups.

Stay safe!"

The screen flickered out as the young scientist disappeared.

Avalon was lost in thought for a while, as it was obvious that the scientist was certainly under pressure or consequences due to a miscalculation.

By the way he regards the high ups of his company, it can be said that they never really paid attention to his experiments, they just want immediate result.

It's not surprising he was nervous in his log, but he might have matured a bit, as he seems to care less now.

The silhouette of a woman appears beside the taxi, as she opens the passenger door while holding her position.

"Young Master, we need to leave now!"
