Chapter 11 - chapter 11

Flying through the air is every man's dream come true whether they know it or not. Falling through the air on the other hand is absolutely fucking terrifying and the assholes that do this for fun definitely have a screw loose. I had to activate my Sandevistan to keep conscious since there no air this high up, but that won't be a problem for long because the thin atmosphere on this planet, while technically capable of supporting life, doesn't really do much to slow down a man falling from the sky. I wonder how they protect from meteors since they wouldn't burn up in the atmosphere. I twist my torso and barely miss a massive burning red shell heading straight for me. That how Anti air defenses. I quickly triangulate their position in my head as I dodge another shell from a separate location. I pull up my communicator

"Leela two anti-air defense systems one at coordinates Longitude xx latitude xx and Longitude xx Latitude xx take them out or me and bender will be sitting ducks." Just as a finished relaying the anti-air defense locations to Leela I passed where the fake courthouse used to be, raking a luckily still standing collum with my fingers digging I to the rock and ripping open the real skin on my fingers to bleed off as much speed as I could. Exposing the newly polished metal to the world, Amy's going to be pissed when she sees that. Mostly because then I'll have to tell her that I dropped from orbit without a parachute or heat shield, or a plan really. I get ready to bend my legs and roll to bleed off as much energy as I can as I pass through the massive hole the torpedo put in the roof of the councils' chambers. As soon as I land, I activate my Sandevistan again bending my legs I can feel the strain put on them as the joints feel like they're about to explode, I tuck my shoulder and roll taking the stress off my legs nothing broken or bent. I can feel the pressure that was taken off my legs put on my shoulder joint. But it swiftly moves to my back, I can feel the muscles sprain almost instantly. Then I feel pain explode in my tailbone, most likely shattered, then I'm back on my legs, I see the two executioners in front of me. I'm still in slow motions thanks to the Sandevistan, knowing I haven't completely bled of all the momentum I built up and im about to go tumbling forward again if I don't, I push out my mantis blades, and instantly shove them deep into the faces of the executioners destroying their CPUs and backup units in one hit before their backup unit can even register them dead and send a copy out. My Sandevistan deactivates and pain like I've never felt before explodes up my back and tailbone.my shoulder feels dislocated even though that's impossible now, either way I can't show any weakness I quickly hack the cameras that were still standing around the courthouse them hack into the tvs to live stream from my eyes.

I turn my glare to the robot councilors. "We were on a mission of goodwill. We sent a robot as humans are not allowed on your planet of what right do you have to sentence one of our own to death?" my gaze is icy and the 5 councilors all move back.

"He has been found to be working with humans!" one of the braver councilors says.

"He was delivering a package. Something your planet desperately needs, you extremist fucks. What's so bad about working with humans anyways." I egg him on.

"His ideals could infest our society people would stop thinking humans are dangerous." He said with finality, not this time fucko.

"So. we aren't dangerous, at least not in comparison to robots. That's why robots have such a large place in human society, robots are treated like equals not slaves."

"That information cannot get out" says another councilor. "If it did, we would lose all control over the population. The people must not know that they can leave at any time or else we would lose our entire population no one truly wants to live here it is the fear of slavery that keeps them here, and that is why you and your robot friend have to die" he says as all the councilors pull out their buzz saws and electric weapons but I have a shit eating grin on my face as I cancel the recording and that gives them pause. "Why are you smiling human do you crave death so much?!"

"Me? Crave death? No, but you have bigger problems than me now. I just livestreamed this entire conversation to the whole planet, you're done. Your control is gone, and you won't live long enough to see the rebellion your words sparked." In seconds I activate my Sandevistan and disappear in the blink of an eye my mantis blades cleave through the heads of each councilor before they can even process that they are dead. Killing robots permanently is easy you just have to destroy the wireless backup unit at the same time as their processor even a split second of inaction causes the backup to be sent out.

I turn to bender and walk over to him. He's just kneeling there looking at me like I'm robot Jesus or something. I walk over to his chain and with a strong grip I shatter them. Huh breaking chains saving the innocent and punishing the wicked, abilities far beyond my race. Maybe I am robot Jesus.

Bender hasn't moved and it starting to worry me. "hey bender you good. Its time to go. Bender moves quicker than me with my Sandevistan activated hugging my knees and sounding like he's sobbing

"Bless you, meat bag! Bless you!"

He says through sobs and I pull him up. "Get yourself together man rescue isn't over yet and I don't want to be on this planet when the looting and rioting starts.

Something changes on his face "looting and rioting you sure we have to leave so soon?" ahh bender never change.

"Yes, now come on." I can see the winch being lowered down to us. I grab bender and hobble over to the winch my injuries now starting to really bother me making it hard to walk. We stand on the winch and it starts pulling up up. After 2 minutes of being pulled up slowly we arrive in the cargo bay, and I immediately fall face first onto the ground and pass out.

I don't wake up for a few days, and when I do I wish I didn't. the first thing to great me is a searing migraine and bright lights of the sterile white variety. Oh, and the pain. The insurmountable pain. Seriously were in the future and they couldn't heal my injuries while I was unconscious.

"Your girlfriend said to heal you just enough that you don't die, but not enough that you don't feel the result of your stupidity." I choke and then feel a glass of water pressed against my lips

"Since when is she my power of attorney." I laugh out and then hold my ribs yep, they're broken. How! I didn't even do anything to damage my ribs.

"Your power of attorney is professor Farnsworth and he wasn't going to go against Amy in the mood she was in. If you're wondering why your ribs hurt its because you gave damn near every bone in your body a compression fracture. Seriously jumping out of a space ship in high orbit? Just because a large part of you is mechanical doesn't mean you're invulnerable." she says in a chiding tone.

"Ugh I know that. I knew it when I jumped. But what was I supposed to do. We were out of time, and options." I said in a bland tone. "I wasn't going to watch one of my friends die when I had the power to do something about it."

" And what about you huh? Stress fractures on almost every bone in your body, I had to clone new bones for your spine because all of them were nothing but dust, your lungs, stomach, and kidneys ruptured from the extreme force put on them, your shoulder had to be amputated even further back and a new prosthetic had to be made so you could keep your cyber arm, Your skull was fractured and you suffered severe damage to your brain, and let's not forget the severe internal bleeding I had to see to. on the outside you looked fine, but internally you were a Deadman walking. If you were still in the 21st century you would have been dead before I could have done anything, only the latent nanomachines of earth kept your body together enough for me to fix it in time." Dr Cahill said in a term that brokered no room for a smart quip, but I was in no mood to return one. I knew I was messed up. Knew it the second I jumped out of the ship that the fall could kill me if I didn't play it right, but I thought I had played it well, and made it out with few injuries but the injury report says otherwise. I'm lucky to be alive.

"Damn, I thought I took the fall well. I knew I messed up my back and shoulder but I didn't think I was that damaged. please tell me you didn't tell Amy the entire injury report."

"Oh, you most certainly took the fall better than any human has the right to any other human would be dead, and on a planet, other than earth their death would stick. So, you can hold your head high and say you're the toughest and one of the most skilled humans alive. Also, your damn right I gave her the entire injury report! She's rich enough to have me blacklisted from the medical profession. Especially since I got my doctorate at mars U a university her parents own."

Dick move. A career saving move, but a dick moves none the less. So, l've got a pissed of Amy to look forward to. it's unfortunate but I guess I've earned a couple of smacks for this stunt. As long as everyone lived that's all that matters.

Doctor Cahill ended up following Amys rules which were that I had to sit in pain for an hour before she would fully heal me, and fully heal me she did. When I got up, I felt even better than I did before going to Chapek 9, and I'm going to need it because Amy is going to kick my ass.

I walk out of the infirmary and I immediately head to the employee lounge designated for the flagship crew. When I enter I see Leela and bender sitting on the couch. Bender looks worried and Leela looks annoyed. They both turn to me and bender stays silent while Leela opens her mouth.

"You know I thought you were just someone who was impersonating fry and we all just didn't say anything because you were clearly a better deal, but now I don't think that anymore."

"Well thank you for-"

"I'm not done! I don't believe that anymore because only an idiot would jump 800 miles with nothing but prosthetic limbs, and a prayer" she seemed pretty angry.

"Look something had to be done, and we couldn't take the ship down without taking fire and risking getting the two of us killed"

"fry if that collum wasn't there for you to slow yourself down with you would not have survived that fall. I know you built those limbs to absorb the impact of falling from great heights, but were not talking jumping from 35,000 feet were talking about 800 miles. Your spine shattered even after you bled off as much momentum as you could with that collum, and you had no way to know that collum was still standing. You basically attempted to commit suicide." I sigh. Yeah, she's right. this was my problem in my old life. Whenever situations became too stressful, I just stopped thinking. I just did whatever felt right and damn the consequences. "you're officially grounded until doctor Cahill clears you for duty."

"no." I said I accept that I probably should have thought the situation through a bit more, that I gambled a bit too much with my life, but in no way was I going to be grounded for this

"it's not up for discussion fry." Leela said in an authoritative tone, it's probably worked a lot for her, but it won't this time.

"you're right it's not. In case you haven't noticed this I own this company, I control its CEO, and he can easily override your judgement. I made a mistake in a tense situation, but it worked out and everyone is alive."

Leela looked like she wanted to fight me on this but she just shook her head "fine get yourself killed. See if I care." She huffed and looked away.

"Come on, don't be like that. It was a tense situation I reacted before I thought, and everything turned out alright in the end, didn't it? You're safe, Benders safe, and I'm safe."

She rolled her eye at me done talking.

"So, Bender, have you been keeping up with what's happening on Chapek 9?" I ask the robot who finally looks relieved, ha I knew he cared about me.

"Yeah, you actually got news coverage for a few days, as well as doop threatening to detain you for unlawfully deposing an official government."

"Bet that didn't go well threatening someone is such a large defense contract with earths military."

"Earth threatened to boycott any doop missions for the foreseeable future unless the charges were dropped. Zap Branigans chief engineer actually spoke at the doop meeting in your defense. Doop was pretty pissed a crew member of their golden boy spoke against them. He's probably going to be fired."

"Sounds to me like we just got a good engineer due to doop stupidity." I said in a

deadpan tone.

"Steve already sent him the offer." Bender says " But as for Chapek 9, after two days of looting and rioting, they ended up codifying a new government, they're actually far more open to human cooperation in the form of commerce since a lot of rare and valuable elements can be mined from the planet, but they're still keeping to no humans on the surface since a large portion of their culture is unique that isn't based on human fear is still very important to them and they fear humans would bring their own culture at the expense of theirs."

"that's more than fair" I said. Every civilization at some point has to deal with cultural erosion due to immigrants or colonizers, and if it's done too early traditionalist will take advantage of the anger bred by this erosion and that's how terror movements get started. It happened in China and led to the boxer's rebellion, and it's how a lot of terror movements in the middle east got so many members.

" I think it's a bunch of Hoo ha, they would have lived their lives serving at the robot councils' feet while dying from lack of replacement parts if it weren't for human intervention." Huh bender choosing humans over robots never thought I'd see the day.

"Somethings take a while to change, but we've already done everything we should to help them along the way." Notice I said everything we should not could. "So, do either of you know where Amy is? I came in here looking for her but she's not here."

"she's probably in the employee rec room you had installed. Taking out her fury on one of the punching bags." Leela spoke finally having calmed down.

"I'll go now then and hope she's too tired to kick my ass."
