Chapter 13 - chapter 13

It's been about 2 months since I first started tackling the mutant problem. First things first the sewer, I set a 2-billion-dollar budget for the project. I bought all the land except for old Harlem, where the mutants live currently, and immediately demolished everything that was still standing. Fortunately, my financial advisor who is in charge of this project had a good idea about recycling the materials for later use in building. The glass, concrete, and metal were all recycled and turned into raw materials to be used to build the city. While the wood would be burned and turned into pure carbon to make steel, then sold to metal foundries on and off planet. So that cut about 500 million off of my budget. The mutants found out about the project pretty quickly and a lot of them that didn't have jobs, and would scavenge the city to find stuff to trade for food, decided to join up with the hired construction crews to demolish the city.

I went to my old house before it was demolished and took everything that wasn't decayed. I got a lot of 20th century memorabilia I plan to sell at the auction since I have no need for it. Pretty soon after the demolition people found out about what was going on in the sewers. Some people called me a mad man wasting my money, but a lot of important people wanted a slice of the pie. I got offers for some of the land I owned and I sold it to them for double the asking price, keeping areas for municipal building, libraries, schools, public parks, public restrooms, cyber clinics, indoor farms, and hospitals. In the end all the land I sold back to them earned me 3 billion dollars, when I only bought the land for 200 million, and since they had to sign a contract stating that they would develop the land within a year or else it would default back to me I don't have to worry about construction costs for those areas cutting my already shrinking budget down by half. It will only cost me 1 billion to develop the land and I already made three billion off of the land I sold. I made a net gain of 2 billion dollars bringing my disposable income to 7 billion. Me and the professor finally finished his nanomachines that would eat the toxic sludge and waste in the sewers. So now the sewer has cleaned and fresh water from what used to be a radioactive mutagenic lake. it was during cleaning out this lake that I meet Mr. Astor, I offered to return him to his wife, but he said he would return until his presence could make an impact in the fight for mutant rights. He is a really cool guy actually; he stayed in the mutagenic lake to make sure that anyone who wasn't already a mutant who fell in would immediately be covered by his body to prevent mutation.

Me and the professor also put up lights all throughout the sewer that act as both grow lights, and work on a night and day cycle to help the people of the sewer to adjust to the surface timeline since most of the jobs in this new city will be going to them. Thankfully we don't have to introduce a new currency because they still use regular money.

In other news we've officially launched 18 new factories to produce cyberware, and over 800 new cyberware clinics. Theres at least one in every state in the U.S, which had quickly become the cyberware hub of the world. People from many different countries come to America to get cyberware implants. America is now known as the home of cybernetics. Speaking of cybernetics, I've now launched the office worker branch of cybernetics, which includes anti-arthritis wrist and finger implants, neural interface boosters, cochlear implants, black ice for their systems, stimulant injector, and a bio monitor. I've also created the sports edition cyberware, including reinforced joints for enhanced jumping and running, kerenzikov for increased reaction time, sports edition cyber eyes that have real time tracking on the ball or puck, shock neutralizers for the skull to minimize brain damage (that one is now required for all players of any contact sport.), and reinforced knees to prevent breakage. In the two months that these things came out every major sports company has come out to say that, other than shock dampening cyberware, there will now be a cybernetic team and a normal team. Some say that cyberware ruins the game, others say that cyberware makes the game more interesting, I say I don't care as long as it makes me money.

Now while I didn't want to piece together cyberware that would make the body dysmorphia problem worse than it already was, I'm a business man first. So, when mom came to me about buying the rights to bio-plastic and bio-metal for cosmetic purposes, after I made her sign a contract stating she would not use it for anything other than cosmetic cyberware, I gladly said yes. That's how I got 20 billion dollars. Leaving me with a disposable income of 27 billion. What shocked me though is mom in the span of 1 month had ended up putting out thousands of customizable cyberware face, body, skin, and hair mods. She invented chem skin with the little I gave to her. I had a conversation with her after that, business person to business person, and asked her how she came out with so much in such little time. Instead of blowing me off like I expected she explained that her r&d department was actually over 200 thousand people scattered throughout the earth, and were chomping at the bit to work on cyberware, even if it was cosmetic. This strangely started a friendship between me and mom, we meet up and discuss our business strategies with each other, but sometimes we talk about our personal lives as well.

Speaking of personal lives, me and bender have been hanging out a lot more recently which ended up with me asking to see his wireless backup unit to make sure it was working properly. Unfortunately, it wasn't. thankfully, I had a good working relationship with mom and ordered a wireless backup unit for a bending unit. She got one to me pretty quickly, but said none of her engineers had steady enough hands to install one. yeah, watching futurama whenever there was a problem with benders mechanical parts I was always so annoyed. He's a robot, just replace those parts. Apparently, it's not that easy, because the circuitry and machinery of a robot are so integrated just the tiniest mistake will cause a cascade systems failure. Effectively destroying the robot. You need hands that move down to the last micron with precision luckily my cyberware can do just that. Within an hour of the surgery start bender was back up and running with a functional wireless backup unit. He cried like the big robotic baby he is. But was very thankful for me saving his life a second time.

Leela had finally decided to forgive me for airdropping myself to the surface of Chapek 9 from 800 miles. She was now more focused on the fact that she was a mutant. While she was excited to learn about her parents. Real life isn't a cartoon, and she could be caught going into the sewers at any moment.it wouldn't be hard to connect her mutant heritage if she made frequent trips to the sewer. So, she's decided to wait until the sewer is fully developed which is anywhere from a few months to 2 years, me personally, I think it's going to be a few months. People have already started to develop the land they bought, mostly because it's so cheap to do so, and metropolis is going to charge lower taxes to run businesses. Along with tax credits for hiring mutants. Leela was ecstatic when she heard I was redeveloping old New York and planned to create initiatives to give the mutants a better life with my own money. She's constantly talking to me about how were going to need to run elections for key positions, hire personnel for city maintenance, and a bunch of other stuff I barely understand. It didn't take long for me to install Leela as my second in command of the metropolis project.

Amy and I have been slowly growing closer, especially after the whole jumping out if a ship at 800 feet, she's been a bit clingy but that's understandable and slowly going away. We rarely spend the nights alone anymore its either she's at my apartment watching old movies, or I'm at her apartment watching horrible new movies that just came out. The future is creatively bankrupt. I might open an entertainment section of planet inc. just to prove I could do it better. Either way it's always fun hanging out with Amy. We still haven't done the horizontal monster mash, both of us agreeing that it will happen when it happens. Which if we're being fair is probably a while away.

In planet express research and development news, we've officially crated a brain chip that stores information via DNA and grants a human access to the information encrypted on the chip like it's their own memories or information. It's even capable off sharing information with other chips via a cable because we wanted to ensure it isn't hackable. So, the chip connects to a neural port that needs a specific cable to share information. the professor and I are working together with mars U to put together data packages that can he used by students to instantly gain the knowledge they would have received from their classes for an extra fee of course. I can't have the teaching profession go the way of the dodo. Still, I don't need a chip but the option of learning anything I need to learn at a moment's notice is definitely appealing.

That's pretty much everything that happened these last two months. they've been pretty dull. it's no wonder they weren't covered in the show. Still todays the day I make an even bigger move than I usually do. today is the day of the 20th century auction, and I've already signed a non-compete with mom that states I won't use the sardine oil to make better robot oil, and put her out of business. So, she won't even be bidding for the sardines. Then why even get the sardines? One might ask. It's simple I intend to clone and start a new population of captive sardines that will become a large export to Decapodia. They have a genetic disposition to become addicted to sardines. It's legal drug peddling. I've already bought 13 state of the art breeding facilities in preparation. I'm not going alone either. I'm taking Amy and Bender with me. I invited Leela, but she's busy with project metropolis, which I'm actually grateful for. I like Leela don't get me wrong, but she just doesn't understand my rampant need for status and money. Money, strength, and political power, these are the things that are necessary to take control of your own life.

Amy walks into the room breaking me from thoughts. She's wearing a slim red dress with a slit going up to the thigh, her small bust actually looks a bit bigger in the dress. Just looking at her makes me feel under dressed, and I'm in a suit and tie. I recently got my hair done, now its styled like genos, but black with red streaks. My skin had gotten a bit darker from my tan, my "real skin" was colored to match it, and I customized my cyber eyes to be black with yellow rings and red pupils. Amy thought it made me look exotic. I liked it, I didn't see a stranger when I looked in the mirror anymore. Amy took my arm and smiled at me.

"you're ready to go?" she asked.

"Yep, still waiting for bender though." The robot was nowhere in sight and I was about to text him to tell him to hurry up.

"Sheesh, your robot is going to make us late fry." She said with a small pout.

"I'm comin I'm comin, keep your pants on!" the robot came out and he was wearing what would pass for high fashion, in the late 1900's

"Why the monocle bender?" I asked. He's in a tuxedo with a monocle and top hat. He looks like a stereotypical rich guy from a 90's cartoon.

"What? what's wrong with it?" bender asked confused. Thinking that this was how rich people dressed. Amy let go of my arm and moved over to bender.

"The tux is fine if a little much, but lose the top hat, and monocle, it looks ridiculous." She said talking to the robot in a tux.

Soon bender was squared away. Bender, Amy, and I went to the limousine that was waiting for us to take us to the auction. We both step into the black limo and the inside it lit up by a small blue mini bar. Bender is visibly excited because this is hos first time in a limo. It's kind of adorable to both Amy and I. I've taken a limo to a couple of functions to focus on networking, while Amy grew up traveling solely in limos. Bender takes the chance to dive into the mini bar taking multiple shots if tequila, while Amy cuddles into my side and rests her head on my shoulder, the drive is going to take about 40 minutes with traffic, so we just decide to get comfortable.
