Chapter 21 - CHAPTER 21

Lucien materializes with a strong gust of wind in the forest with Asherah clinging on to him for her dear life.

He let her stay for a while. He unwraps his arms around her waist, liking the feeling of her in his arms.

Feeling itches in his fangs he says "I wouldn't mind if we can stay like this forever. But I'd like to do that on the bed. Don't you agree?" Lucien asks, whispering in her ears.

Asherah unwraps her arms around his waist moving to create space between them. She turns around looking at the lake before them. Lucien chuckles seeing her red cheeks.

Asherah walks ahead sitting in the lake bed. She pulls off her shoe and dips her leg into the water for a while before pulling away when she notices a subtle green light emitting from the river.

She looks back to stare at Lucien who keeps staring at the water. She gulps.

"Do you think he saw it?" Lilly asks inside her head.

"I don't know Lilly. He's staring at the waiter and not asking questions". Asherah replies panicking.

"I can see that. Stop panicking" Lilly says with a roll of her eyes.

"King Lucien" Asherah calls.

Lucien walks towards her "Sorry for that. I was listening to something". He says joining her on the lake bed.

"Phew. That was close" Lilly says internally.

Asherah nods her head staring at the vast lake.

"Can you swim?" He asks, staring at her.

"I'm still learning how to," she replies.

He smiles, "I can teach you how to," Lucien proposes.

She hums. "That will be some other time. When I'm ready" she says not wanting to reject his offer.

Lucien sighs "I want you to tell me about yourself. All about your curse".

Asherah smiles sadly "There's nothing really special or precious about me. I believe my father has told you all he needs to know about the curse my mother placed on me. I still don't fathom what the reason could be"

She sighs, tossing a stone into the lake causing ripples on it.

"I know I'm cursed but to be sincere I don't know the curse that was laid on me. But all I do know is that my curse comes with extra powers.

Lucien turns to her with a raised brow. .

"Anytime I cry in pain or agony, There'll always be a heavy downpour. Heavy enough to destroy farmlands and cause floods. If I shout or scream in fear all the nearby glasses will get destroyed. Shattering around. And if I do all these things together, the damage will be worse than one could imagine. I'm called a forbidden princess because of this".

Lucien leans back supporting his body with his arms that are placed on the ground behind him.

"The forbidden princess. Everything with a bad side has a good side. So every good person has a bad side and vice versa. That means your curse has a good side. Theron told me that as long as you're happy everything will be fine".

"Well I've never had a reason to be happy in this pack with Ophelia around. She's like a bone stuck in the neck that causes pain with the slightest move you make. But I can remember on a few occasions before Sarai left when I was ten years old, she always played with me and kept me company. Tell me funny jokes that make me laugh".

She smiles remembering her good memories feeling joyful about it. Lucien squints his eyes when he sees the dead leaves regaining their colour and flowers changing colour to the colour of her eyes and that of her wolf. Some were blue while some were green. Emerald green to be precise.

"Those times the flowers will change colours either to the colour of my eyes or that of my wolf". She says smiling widely.

"Just like now," Lucien says, looking around. "You don't think it only happens in your room, do you see how everywhere looks like spring even when it's not".

Asherah looks around smiling. If there was a reason why she ever loved her curse and will always appreciate her mother for cursing her is because of this. The ability to change the scenery through her happiness.

Looking around she says "This is one of my most favourite reasons I love this curse. The second reason is because any time Ophelia comes to lash out on me for tearing her marriage apart she spews hurtful words that no doubt make me cry. Which destroys things". She says with a grin on her face.

"I later came to realize that everything that gets destroyed because of me, father will always be the one who faces the people on my behalf and goes through a lot of stress in order to put things back in place. And since then I've learned to control my emotions. No matter how Ophelia lash out on me and hit me I'll make sure that not a single tear drop from my eyes" Asherah smiles looking at him but he could still see the sadness lurking in her eyes.
