Los Angeles.
Batman drove the aircraft near the target location, which was a very secluded manor.
Thousands of meters above the ground, he had the Bat-aircraft hover in the air.
"Wait, why are we stopping here?"
Constantine's heart fluttered a bit when he saw Batman starting to unbuckle his seatbelt.
"We're getting off here," Batman said calmly.
"What?" Constantine looked at him with a shocked expression.
"What? Do you think there's a helipad down there?"
"No, but..."
Batman didn't listen to him, instead he just put a parachute pack on him, then opened the cabin door.
The wind pressure instantly suppressed the swear words Constantine was about to utter.
He adjusted for a moment, then yelled in an extra loud voice:
"I said, shouldn't we have some training first or something?"
Batman heard him and thought he had a point, so he was concise.
"Go down, press it at the right time." As he spoke, he gestured to the button on Constantine's parachute pack.
"That's it?" Constantine was dumbfounded.
Batman's mouth curved slightly, then he gave a sudden push.
Constantine fell out of the cabin, flipping him off with his middle finger and cursing.
"Fuck you, Batman!"
Batman, without a parachute pack, followed Constantine and jumped down with him.
Constantine noticed this and cursed him for being a lunatic.
But Batman spread his cape, which opened like wings, turning into a glidewing in the blink of an eye.
Air resistance instantly slowed his descent, and he truly descended slowly like a giant bat.
Constantine didn't know when to pull the parachute, but when he couldn't resist pressing the button Batman had just shown him, he found no reaction.
At this point, he couldn't help but curse again. What kind of unreliable teammate was this? Did he want him dead?
Just as he was hesitating whether to use magic, about a kilometer from the ground, the parachute suddenly opened.
Constantine felt like his ribs were about to break, but thankfully, he landed safely in the end.
"Are you fucking crazy! This parachute is broken!"
Constantine, who had just landed, furiously tugged at the parachute harness on his body, but couldn't undo it for a long time.
Batman also landed effortlessly at this moment, picking up Constantine's words: "It's normal."
"What did you say..." Constantine didn't finish his sentence when he saw Batman press a button on the display screen in his hand.
With a 'bang,' the parachute ropes he couldn't undo suddenly snapped all at once.
Now Constantine understood. The parachute's switch had been in Batman's hand all along.
Batman turned his head, looking at him expressionlessly: "I said, it's normal."
"I. Hate. You!" Constantine's face was very dark.
"Let's go, don't keep our Master waiting."
Batman and Constantine walked a short distance and saw the huge manor.
"1247 Enstrom Street"
This address was written on the wall pillar in front of the manor's main gate.
Batman carefully looked at the address name, pondering for a moment.
"A design with ulterior motives, right?" Constantine scoffed.
Enstrom, rearranging the letters of this name spells Monster.
The owner of this place had made no attempt to conceal it.
They walked in and knocked on the inner house's main door.
Usually, in such situations, Batman would directly infiltrate.
However, considering that there were demons inside, and some might even know a bit of dark magic, he didn't act on his own.
This time, Constantine was the protagonist.
The door opened quickly, revealing a pig-headed man in a suit.
Not like Professor Pyg from Gotham, but a genuine 'pig-man.'
Batman had already prepared himself mentally; even if this pig-headed man could speak, he would remain composed.
The pig-headed man revealed a human-like sinister smile: "Welcome."
As he spoke, he sized up Batman. Could this person be a new demon from some family?
He took a deep sniff, revealing an intoxicated expression, "What a fragrant soul aura!"
Batman's arm, hidden beneath his cape, began to deform, forming a spike. His battle suit had also been upgraded with nanotechnology.
He was confident he could kill this pig-headed man on sight.
But the pig-headed man merely showed a regretful expression, then moved aside, opening the large door.
"Please come in."
All humans who entered the manor's grounds were the Master's property; even if the pig-headed man drooled, he wouldn't dare to hunt them privately.
The interior of the house was very large, but it looked like a dilapidated haunted house.
The two who entered immediately saw a giant oil painting hanging in the center of the hall.
It depicted various demons torturing and slaughtering humans for entertainment in different ways, a sight that was somewhat nauseating.
The pig-headed man leaned his head over: "My Lord Beru'er will be down soon. Stay here."
With that, he turned and left.
Unfortunately, neither of them were the type to follow rules, so they quickly began to investigate their surroundings.
Next to the oil painting in the hall, they found a side door.
"I think you'd better stay here," Constantine warned kindly.
But Batman didn't appreciate it, only looking at him.
Constantine could only shrug helplessly: "Alright, stick close to me."
With that, he walked straight forward, and Batman, who followed closely behind, hid himself in the Shadow.
At the end of the passage was a huge space, with an enormous rectangular pit in the center, like a swimming pool, filled with naked human corpses.
A few scavenging flies buzzed sporadically over the sea of corpses, and an unpleasant stench of death wafted over.
Constantine gasped, covering his mouth, almost throwing up.
"I thought you were already used to such scenes."
The first thing Constantine did when he heard the unfamiliar voice wasn't to look at the source of the sound, but to look back behind him.
But Batman was no longer there, and he felt a slight relief.
Only then did he turn his head to face the speaker, or rather, the demon.
It had a huge and bloated body, eyes like yellow lanterns, rough and foul-smelling skin, and its face and body were covered in stitched marks, like a monster constructed and sewn together from pieces of corpses.
"Beru'er?"
"That's right, it's me."
"You deliberately lured me here, using Cuixi?"
"So clever. For someone like you, unless you're troubled by a very urgent, very dangerous situation, how could you possibly show yourself willingly?"
"Mr. Chandler is one of the few people you still care about. I knew you couldn't refuse an old friend's request."
Chandler was Chas's last name.
Everything was clear now; Cuixi was a trap set by Beru'er to lure Constantine.
As for why it was so troublesome, it was because it was very difficult for a Hell demon to manifest in the human world.
The reality dimension had a powerful law that bound them.
Unless a human actively summoned them from this side, a demon could not manifest its true form.
Nightmare Nurse's situation was different; she was a symbiotic life form with humans, so she could travel between the mortal and spirit worlds like an exorcist.
And Beru'er was also bound by this powerful law at this time; he could only use his demonic power within this manor, and not even at his full strength.
Unable to leave the manor in the flesh, Beru'er could only seize human souls through nightmare black magic. Cuixi was probably captured by him this way.
Beru'er introduced his Hell blueprint to Constantine; he wanted to open a chain of Hell stores in the human world.
So that those who yearned to sell their souls for fame and fortune could make deals with demons there.
In Hell, fallen souls were hard currency.
Demons were even willing to repeatedly torment a human body to acquire a soul full of negative energy.
"Where have you hidden Cuixi?"
Beru'er grinned and patted his chest.
"She's right here in my heart!"
"John Constantine, there are five small obstacles before this great Hell blueprint of mine, and I need you to help me eliminate them."
"Let me guess, other competitors?"
"I like your cleverness. You help me eliminate my competitors, and I'll return this poor little girl to you, how about it?"
Beru'er placed his hand on Constantine's shoulder, revealing an unpleasant smile.
Constantine grimly slapped his hand away:
"I'll help you do it. When it's done, you give me Cuixi's soul, and then we're even."
Beru'er shrugged, saying nothing.
Meanwhile, Batman had already infiltrated the interior of the mansion, and he saw the evil within and... blasphemy!
