Chapter 11 - Requiem Academy

"Little ones, welcome to reality."

As Kaien said this, the children felt chills; they looked at the unknown creature, trembling the more.

Kimberly looked at the children; she shook her head, a bit disappointed by the children's fear.

She glanced at everyone, surprised by something. She saw that Eira wasn't that fearful, which made her nod at this. As expected of the possessor of an SS Talent.

Her eyes glanced at Matt, who was beside Eira; she raised her eyebrows because there was no fear on Matt's face, just nonchalance.

She tapped Kaien, Charles, and Daniel that they should look at Matt. Eira herself was afraid, but it wasn't as bad as the other children.

Matt didn't know that his non display of fear had caught the attention of the instructors.

He looked at the unknown creature; he knew that it was the devil from the familiar aura it released.

But compared to the unknown devil he met yesterday, the aura this wormlike creature released didn't reach one thousandth of the unknown devil.

So the darkness and evil emitted wasn't able to move Matt's heart.

He also realized something: he could feel the powerful aura and devilish energy released by this worm was so strong that it could massacre half of the city.

If its devilish aura didn't reach one thousandth of the unknown devil in him, he was in a deep pit. He wondered how such a powerful devil was in him.

He shivered at the fact that things went awry; he would just be like an ant before the devil.

Strength, this is what he needed if he wanted to survive and want to have control over his fate.

Kimberly and the boys watched Matt's every move, and seeing his determined look and hunger for strength, they nodded.

"Ahem, this is a devil, a being that you are going to fight against. As much as many of them had died in our human hands, humanity had sacrificed a lot, still battling the devils. And this is just a low-ranked devil, a worm devil."

Kimberly said mercilessly, revealing the children to the cruelty of this world and the battle with the demons.

The children listened to her words; shock passed through their minds, processing their words.

"So going to the Requiem Academy, you shouldn't have the mindset of enjoyment but of battle; every second in the Requiem can be a battle scene." She instilled this into the children.

When Matt heard of this, he thought of his parents; it appears that they had expected that they might not make it back alive in some moments.

Kaein stepped forward, surprisingly to the children he passed the barrier, now before the worm devil.

They shivered, watching this scene; some covered their eyes and couldn't watch the scene of him being brutally murdered.

Kaein stretched his finger forward, clasping his right hand's forefinger and middle finger together, and a small wisp of flame burned on his hand.

This scene caught the eyes of the children watching this magical scene.

Kaien yawned, "Little ones, watch this scene." He threw the wisp of flame to the gigantic worm devil, just like an ant before an elephant.

But as the wisp of flame touched the body of the worm devil, they watched its flame spread throughout the entire body of the worm devil.

It began rolling on the ground, screaming in pain; the children could feel the pain it was going through.

Kaein watched this; he shook his head, disappointed, snapped his fingers together, and the worm devil burned into ashes.

The children's eyes were glued to this scene; such an evil creature was just killed within seconds.

"This is why you should cultivate; if you cultivate and get stronger, such devils would be meaningless before you," Kimberly said. Her words were like the door of light to the children.

Their expression became determined because they realized such an evil creature can be killed by them.

Kimberly and Daniel nodded at this, seeing the change in the children, Charles still reading his book and Kaein sulking that he wasted his strength on a weak devil.

"Now let's move to the Requiem Academy," she said, taking the children to another hall.

In this hall, there was a large platform, four pillars surrounding it, covered in unknown letters.

The instructors divided the children into four groups; Matt and Eira were coincidentally in the same group with Brad.

And Kimberly was their instructor, and they were also the first group to step on the platform. The children were confused about what was going on.

Kimberly waved her hands, an unknown energy covering the children with her.

The four pillars began to shine with intense light, covering them as they disappeared.

The other children were shocked by this, racking their brains about what happened.

As for Matt and the other children, when the four pillars began to shine, their vision turned into an expanse of white; when they gained their sight back, they found out that they were in the forest.

Instructor Kimberly told them to wait for the rest. They waited, watching as the other children with their instructor appeared out of nowhere in front of them.

When they were complete, they were led into the forest, their eyes falling on a towering structure, that made them open their mouths in awe.

The towering structure gleamed beneath the sunlight, made from polished obsidian stone and reinforced steel lined with faint glowing runes. Sleek glass walls reflected the passing clouds, while soft blue lights traced along the edges of its spires, giving it a quiet, living presence.

At the front, massive metallic gates opened smoothly, their surfaces carved with old symbols that glimmered faintly when touched. Inside, the halls were wide and bright, their marble floors veined with pale lines of energy forming subtle geometric patterns.

The main hall rose high and open, supported by tall pillars that reached a domed ceiling painted with constellations. Long corridors stretched from it in every direction, leading to libraries, classrooms, and training rooms.

Above, transparent crystal walkways connected the towers, offering clear views of the silver-leaved gardens and gentle lights that floated across the courtyard below.

"Welcome to the Requiem Academy."
