Chapter 15 - Impromptu Meeting

As the CEO of AURORA, a Luxury Lifestyle and Brand Development Group.

I couldn't believe that after given a second chance to live, I had forgotten my role and didn't come to work for two whole days. Which was very unprofessional of me.

But thanks to that call, I was able to get back to business.

AURORA was a company that was handed to me from Mo Yichen as one of my wedding gifts he gave me to handle and do whatever I wanted with it. In my past life, after I was framed for cheating leading to a scandal, the company crashed and I lost everything.

This time, I would never let it happen. I would give it the recognition it was meant to have. Putting it at the top of Country X.

My heels clicked noisily as I stepped into the office, staffs going up and about doing their work, and everyone who noticed stopped to greet, while some didn't even bother as if they didn't notice me.

But that was none of my business, I had to organize a meeting soon enough.

I gripped the coffee cup tightly, my heart racing as I got closer to the elevator, when I punched the up button, it opened to reveal Jing Xu.

His eyes widened, "Mrs. Mo!" He excitedly called out and I gave him a weak smile as he quickly ushered me into the Lift.

I was kind of relieved that it was only him in the Lift. He quickly collected my handbag, despite my reluctance. I wasn't used to being the boss, but I could get used to it, if I start somewhere.

"How are you doing these days, Jing Xu?" I asked, and he flinched, turning his head to give me a look of confusion.

It wasn't because I was rude; it was because, in the two years I was married to Mo Yichen, I had never once bothered to use his name, let alone ask his state of being.

He cleared his throat, "I have been doing perfectly well, Mrs. Mo. What about you?" he asked, and I groaned, for some reason I didn't want to talk about it.

"I don't want to talk about." I rolled my eyes.

The Lift stopped with a ding, and it opened to the fresh scent of pine that filled the whole expense of the floor, from the staff hall, down to my private office.

Staffs who walked by, greeted with a slight bow and continued on their way.

"Arrange a meeting with the other directors right now." I demanded, as we kept on walking.

"Yes, Madam." He responded and quickly went ahead to draft emails. My feet were quick enough to reach the boardroom, and quickly slumped into the leather chair.

For some reason, I felt the cold feet of talking to people who might be slightly older than me. My hands trembled, and I could feel cold sweat drip down my back.

I needed to get a grip on myself.

That's when my phone buzzed, a message. When I opened the text message, it turned out to be Mo Yichen.

[Good luck at work today, Honey~]

I stared at the message for a good silent moment, that I didn't even hear the other directors pouring in and greeting me.

My mind zeroed on last night, when I thought Mo Yichen would have sex with me, but at the end of the day, he only pulled me into his arms and allowed me to sleep soundly.

Completely different from his personality. Because he was Mo Yichen, whatever he wanted, he would have.

"Mrs. Mo?" I jolted out of my reverie, my eyes scanning to see that other directors had arrived.

My words hung in my throat for a second, as my heart jumped at the intimidating sight of them before I recovered myself remembering the text message that Yichen dropped.

That's right, I was Mo Yi. I should act like one.

"Good morning, I am sorry, I was a little spaced out. My husband was being too sweet, so I didn't see you guys." I flashed a white smile, with a fine glint in my eyes.

They all looked at themselves and quickly greeted back. Some had shock written all over their face, while the others didn't even care about what I said and tended to other things.

I asked, the smile dropping from my face, "So, what's the status report?"

They began to report, each department, giving me what they had achieved and the problems they had faced. While some were good news, the rest were urgent, especially the most important matter.

"If we do not hire Mr. Lu Chen as the Chief Creative Director, we won't have a strong reason to Debut into Society and even show our work all through these years." The Director of Finance spoke up, and I leaned back into my chair.

He was right. Mr. Lu Chen was a fashion designer with a lot of influence in society and would be the perfect person to recruit for the job—on paper.

But he wasn't the perfect person for the job. If I remembered correctly, after my scandal, he led the business to bankruptcy and lost the office to gambling dens because of his addiction. He might seem to be overflowing with ideas and influence now, but once he secured the job as the director here, his motivation to keep improving would be dampened.

It was better to invest in someone better than a man who only cared about money and influence.

"I don't think Mr. Lu Chen is the right person for the job," I declared.

Murmurs erupted as the other directors discussed among themselves. I could feel their collective disdain, believing I was a naive fool who could only depend on her husband.

Jing Xu raised his hand, silencing them and gaining their attention once again.

"Why do you think so, Mrs. Mo?" he asked, his expression serious with his lips drawn into a thin line. He was always the one who understood me better than any of my other secondary staff.

But in times like this, only one person came to mind.

The pure and beautiful lady who shared the same ward with me. She lay beside me silently, sometimes singing a lullaby that only belonged to a kid, or sketching some really nice dresses that she would sometimes tell me about to break the silence.

The beautiful blonde lady who was reduced to cancer because she was abandoned by the same society that had accepted her.

"Instead of Lu Chen, I have someone else that I would love to recruit."
