Chapter 31 - Chapter Thirty - Departure

Maine looked at Long Teng and reminded him, "Don't forget what you promised." Long Teng

pouted, his slightly chubby cheeks puffing out. "Got it. You decide who to hit, and I'll do it, okay? You won't let anyone bully you, will you?"

Maine's eyes flashed with a fierceness. "Of course not."

A commotion came from nearby. The five large shuttles parked on the playground opened their front and rear doors simultaneously. Many contestants ran towards the doors, some arguing over the order of entry.

Bai Jiao reminded him, "Get on the shuttles first." A faint smile played on his face, and his tone was gentle. "I'm actually hoping someone will come to stop us."

Xie Sen had been a little worried, but seeing Long Teng's excitement and Maine and Bai Jiao's calm expressions, he suddenly felt relieved.

He followed his teammates toward the shuttle, turning to ask Bai Jiao, "What are you looking forward to?"

Bai Jiao raised her brows slightly, casually twirling a tuft of hair with her index finger. She smiled faintly, "I've produced a number of finished drugs, but haven't found a suitable test subject. It would be wonderful if someone could volunteer to test the effects."

His features were picturesque, and his smile was particularly charming. Yet, Xie Sen felt a chill inexplicably at the back of his head. This female teammate of his was a bit scary!

The four of them boarded the shuttle. There were ten seats in a row, five on the left and five on the right, with an aisle in the middle. The four of them sat together on the right seat, leaving the aisle seat unoccupied.

Xie Sen sat by the window, curiously observing his surroundings. He soon noticed that the students passing by their seats subconsciously quickened their pace, as if they were encountering a formidable threat.

At 8:55, an announcement blared from the playground: "The league shuttle will take off in five minutes. There are currently vacancies on shuttles two and three. Students who haven't boarded yet, please proceed to these shuttles as soon as possible."

A moment later, four students, breathlessly boarding shuttle two, where Xie Sen and his group were, checked the available seats on the seat display panel near the door and immediately headed for their seats.

The person in front hurriedly dropped their backpack and was about to sit down when a teammate pulled them back, saying, "Let's go to shuttle three."

"Why..." The person was about to ask something, but when he saw Xie Sen and the other three behind them, he immediately stopped, grabbed his backpack, and ran for the door.

Xie Sen was speechless. Was it really that scary?

By the time the shuttle took off, the seats in front, behind, and to their left were all empty. As for the remaining seat in their row, no one dared to take it.

Long Teng smiled broadly. "There's a vacant seat. I'll go lie down over there for a while." He cheerfully ran to the empty seat on the left, comfortably occupying all the seats.

Bai Jiao glanced at him, her lips curled up slightly. The feeling of being in a team was quite good.

Maine said to Xie Sen, "The journey will take about half an hour. You can rest for a while. You'll be very tired on the island."

Xie Sen nodded, leaning back in his chair and closing his eyes to rest.

At 9:30, the shuttle landed promptly at the parking lot in the southern part of Yuzhu Island. It was a man-made parking lot, comparable in size to an international airport.

After everyone disembarked, the shuttle immediately took off. The entire parking lot was filled with people, with only two green shuttles parked at the edge.

Following the instructions of the team leader, everyone swiped their wristbands on the participant counting device, followed by a brief pre-race meeting.

"Hello, students. I'm Qi Jiu, the safety consultant for this tournament." A two-meter-high platform rose up at the front, and a man in a dark green military uniform jumped onto it. "Please remember the rules of our competition: friendly competition."

He smiled. "If you encounter life-threatening situations, remember to send a distress signal. Life is more important than the competition. If you act recklessly and disregard your own safety, I will personally teach you how to cherish your life." "

In three minutes, the north wall of the parking lot will drop, and in ten minutes it will rise again. Everyone, please pay attention to the time. I'll be waiting for you there." He said this and jumped off the platform.

Xie Sen thought to himself, "So, Master Qi is from the military. His aura is indeed consistent with his status. "

After Master Qi finished speaking, the contestants squeezed toward the center of the north wall of the parking lot. The island was circular, and the center diameter was clearly the shortest route to the destination.

Maine didn't move, saying, "Let's go to the far left."

Xie Sen echoed, "A route with too many people is actually harder to navigate."

Bai Jiao nodded, "That's exactly what I mean. Common sense dictates that the middle is often the most dangerous."

"Why aren't you moving? Are you scared and want to withdraw?" Rui Luo approached with three boys in black tights, his tone mocking.

Maine frowned, his features cold and icy. Xie Sen was about to retort when Long Teng's excited voice interrupted him.

"I remember you," Long Teng said, not even glancing at Rui Luo. Instead, he pointed at the burly boy to his right. "You're the Flying Rhino Master of Xinghao University, and you're also S-rank!"

He said, reflexively rolling up his sleeves. "Fight me!"

Rui Luo's face instantly darkened. This was the first time he'd been ignored like this, and because of his underling.

Xie Sen suppressed a smile. Maine raised his hand and slapped the back of Long Teng's head. Long Teng covered his head and glared at him. Remembering what he had promised, he dropped his hand, pouted, and stood aside, his shoulders drooping.

"Are you crazy to be teammates with him?" Rui Luo folded his arms, his face scornful. "I've researched you all. You're all pathetic, friendless wretches."

"If you quit the team now, I'll have someone play with you from now on. I can do it with just a word," he said, his chin raised triumphantly. "You don't even have to participate in the competition. I'll just give you the championship prize."

Maine clenched his fist, his cherry-colored lips tightly pursed.

Xie Sen looked away, utterly disgusted. Was this guy sixteen, not six? Had he been spoiled into a fool because of his family background?

Bai Jiao smiled faintly and shook her head softly, saying nothing, looking completely speechless.

Long Teng blinked, turned to look at his teammates, and laughed heartily. "He's so stupid!"

"Pfft." Xie Sen finally couldn't hold back his laughter.

Maine looked at him. Xie Sen grabbed his arm and said, "Let's go. Time's almost up."

Maine's tightly pursed lips relaxed, a slight smile forming on his face.

They were different.

Rui Luo's seemingly foolish behavior was actually quite useful. He had friends before, but none of them could resist the immense temptation offered by Rui Luo.

Anger crept across Rui Luo's face, and he snarled, "Just wait and see! You still dream of winning the championship? I'll make sure you can't even complete your mission!"

He led his men toward the wall. Two men behind him trotted ahead to clear the way for him. The other contestants jockeying for position quickly made way for him, many with fawning expressions.

"Guess we need to move quickly," Bai Jiao said.

Maine nodded and took the lead, heading for the left side of the wall. Besides them, many others also headed that way; after all, there were too many people, and the competition was too fierce if they were all crowded in the middle.

A countdown sounded, and the wall began to descend. With the final second, the entire wall sank into the ground, and everyone's view was enveloped in a blanket of green.

The air was filled with the scent of green grass, and the sounds of birdsong and the distant roars of wild animals filled my ears.

"Oh, damn!" The contestants rushed in, some tripping over branches that had suddenly sprouted up after a few steps, while others accidentally stepped into deep pits covered by dead leaves.

After Maine entered, he walked to the far left, the others following behind him. Few people followed his path after entering the arena. Ten minutes later, there were very few contestants around.

"Wow! What the hell!" Long Teng, walking last, suddenly cried out.

Xie Sen turned around and saw him flailing his right hand wildly. There was a black object on the back of his hand.

"Don't move," Bai Jiao shouted softly. He walked over to him and grasped his right wrist. Suddenly, a white, pointed bottle appeared in his hand, squeezing out a drop of clear liquid onto his hand.

Xie Sen looked at the limp, black creature in Long Teng's hand, his scalp tingling. He rubbed his arm and asked, "What is this?"

"A blood-sucking worm." The bottle in Bai Jiao's hand disappeared, and a piece of green paper appeared. He used the paper to grab the blood-sucking worm, wrapped it up in a ball, and threw it behind him.

After being frightened suddenly, Long Teng was no longer afraid at all, and his face was full of curiosity: "Amazing! How did you get it? I couldn't get rid of it no matter how hard I tried."

"The more you move, the faster the blood flows, and the tighter it sucks. The medicine I just used stimulates it to pull out the suction cup, making it easier to get it."

Bai Jiao explained, and suddenly three boxes of flat green ointment appeared in his hand. He gave one box to each of them: "Apply it to the exposed skin on your body to block these little things."

Xie Sen hurriedly took it and applied it on his body. He really couldn't stand this kind of soft-bodied creature. If it accidentally got on him, he would probably scream!

As he painted, he congratulated himself, "I'm so glad you're here. You're amazing!"

Long Teng smiled brightly, "I think you're amazing too!"

Xie Sen finished and looked at Bai Jiao's hands curiously, "Where did you get all those things just now?"

Bai Jiao pulled up her left sleeve slightly, revealing a jade-white, transparent bracelet: "Storage space."

Xie Sen was stunned and looked at Maine, "You have one too?"

Maine nodded and pointed to his left foot, "I found jewelry a nuisance, so I bought an anklet."

Xie Sen silently patted his backpack, "I wouldn't have carried a backpack if I had known."

"Cooked food spoils easily if left in space," Maine said. "Aren't you going to put the spicy dried meat there?"

No wonder Maine didn't remind him. Xie Sen nodded, "It's for the spicy dried meat."

Long Teng pounced on his backpack, "Grandpa didn't lie to me. There really is something delicious here. I want to eat it!"

Xie Sen clutched his backpack, "Let's talk about lunch. Let's hurry on!"

Maine pulled Long Teng aside and stretched out his hand. Suddenly, three metal bamboo dragonflies appeared on his palm, each with a blue electronic eye the size of a soybean on its wings.

He turned on his bracelet and made a few quick movements with his fingers. The three dragonflies flew off in three directions, forward, left, and right.

"Cool! What is this?" Long Teng was like a curious baby, and Xie Sen was also curious.

Bai Jiao smiled and said, "You're worthy of being an information science student. Is that an information detector?" Maine

nodded and said to Long Teng, "You cover the rear," and then to Xie Sen, "Follow me closely." Then he took the lead and walked forward.
