Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Fight

As the trio neared the exit suddenly a force field appeared and blocked them from their exit. "Fuck," Keith shouted. The trio slowly turned their heads towards the only person who could've conjured up this forcefield.

"Where do you think you are going," the nun said in a low threatening tone that sent shivers down their spines.

"Going back home. Where else would we go?" Keith answered with a sarcastic remark.

"Well, I can't allow you to go home anymore. I will have to eliminate you before you become a threat to dragon and oni race," she said with her devoid of any emotion. "Don't worry I'll make your death painless." She lunged towards them at lightning-fast speed. She summoned a sword and quickly decapitated their heads.

The trio's bodies went limp and fell down to the ground with a resounding thud that echoed throughout the whole cathedral. "Too easy," she sighed as her sword disappeared as if it had never existed.

"It is going to make more than a swing of your sword to kill us," Keith said as his body stood up from the ground holding his head. His hands then placed his decapitated head on top of his neck. The blood flowing from his neck turned into tentacles and wriggled and twisted like a snake.

The blood tentacles dug into the flesh of his head and sewing his head back to his neck. His head was now firmly reattached to his neck. "Good to know that attribute is still working," he muttered to himself in a low voice. "Status," he muttered under his breath and blue screen appeared in front of him

Soon after he checked his system, his friends' body rose from the ground. Kayla was the first to start regenerating. As pulsating glow enveloped the severed head, as cells shifted and reformed at an unnatural speed. Tendrils of flesh and muscles merged, rebuilding the neck's structure. Cartilage and bone reformed, skin stretching taut. Eyes sparkled with renewed life and her mouth curved in to a faint smile.

She opened her mouth and the words that came out of her were filled utter disdain and mockery:

"You actually had the audacity to decapitate my head. For that alone, I will kill you the same way you attempted to kill me."

"Not if I do it first," Suguru said as he stood up and his head had regenerated the same fashion as Kayla.

"No, I'll do it," she shouted in anger as she glared at Merlin with a murderous gaze.

"Both of you guys chill out. We will kill her together but you two can fight over who gets the deal the final blow," Keith said, his voice calm. The two youths agreed as they nodded.

Suddenly their mood shifted and the expressions on their faces changed into a cold expression as if all the emotion had been sucked out of their body. Their aura also had a changed, a moment ago it was incredibly weak but now it was a sharp as tempered blade and as cold as the frozen tundra.

The nun who was a bit surprised at the prospect that the three humans in front of her could regenerate. Regeneration was an ability that very few dragons and onis possessed but even their regeneration was not strong enough to save them from the clutches of death. What the fuck kind of regeneration do these lowly humans have? Where did they come from?

As she wondered this, the trio lunged towards her with frightening speed and released an onslaught of attacks. The dragon nun was pulled out of her reverie and engaged in a viscous battle with the three youths.

Her fist shot forward at frightening speed and carried a huge amount of force aimed at Keith's head. He slightly bent his neck to the side, dodging the attack in less than a split second. He pivoted on his left leg and his right leg shot forward and delivered a devastating blow to her head. The devastating blow to her head threw her off balance and slightly disoriented.

Merlin used this opportunity and delivered an elbow attack to her throat. The attack was not enough to cause major damage to her but it did cause small injuries to her throat. Blood gushed out of her mouth. Seeing she grew more wary of this group.

She backed away, creating some distance from the trio. She outstretched her hand and a flicker of flames came into existence. The red flame grew larger and slowly shaped into an orb. The temperature suddenly spiked as the flame of the fireball grew larger. She threw the fireball at the three youths. The blazing orb shot forward, a vortex of flames that crackled with destructive energy.

Kayla moved forward and outstretched her hands putting her outmost concentration on the fireball. Suddenly the fireball changed trajectory and went back to the person who summoned it in the first place. The dragon staring at the fireball hurtling towards her, she tried to move out of the way but something had glued her legs to the grounds.

When she glanced down, she saw shadow tendrils attached to her legs constricting her movements. She wondered when had the shadow attached to her legs. Her gaze fell on Merlin and looking at the smile on his face, she knew it was him but how. She looked down and noticed that his shadow was missing.

When he delivered the blow to her head, he had simultaneously commanded his shadow to blend in with hers. This way he could use his talent that allowed to him to bend shadows at his will and firmly hold her in place using his shadow tendrils.

Since her mobility was taken away from and she couldn't dodge the attack. The fireball burnt her skin and clothes off. The flames soon dissipated and her skin was charred like overcooked meat. Keith noticed that she was dead yet, lunged forward, his hand penetrated her chest and pulled the heart out of her body and crushed it. Blue blood flowing down his hand.
