Olaedo raised an eyebrow at his half-hidden stance, unimpressed. Her gaze flicked past him… and froze.
A corner of a blanket peeked out from behind him, right on the floor.
Her eyes narrowed. You've got to be kidding me.
He was actually sleeping there.
Her frown deepened, irritation flashing in her eyes. "Why is he so stubborn?" she muttered under her breath before catching herself.
For a heartbeat, she just looked at him, really looked. His expression was a messy mix of pride, fatigue, and quiet defiance. He looked like a man trying too hard to prove he didn't care, even when he clearly did.
A small sigh slipped from her lips. Her heart softened despite herself.
"Why don't we share the be—"
Chibuzor's eyes lit up instantly, hope flickering to life in them like a spark in the dark. But before the sentence could fully leave her mouth, she froze.
