"Same here," Maduabuchi replied, his warm smile making her chest flutter. "I wanted to check on you, see if things worked out with your pressing situation. I tried finding you too… but no luck."
Olaedo's grin widened. "Well, fate works in mysterious ways, doesn't it? I'm really glad we met today. Since I'm interviewing you, I won't play favorites, but if you're qualified, I'll definitely give you the job."
"Sure. I wouldn't expect anything less," Maduabuchi said, eyes gleaming with respect and quiet anticipation.
As the day went on and all the candidates were interviewed, Maduabuchi's qualifications stood out. His résumé was impressive, one of the best she had ever seen. And yet, something in his demeanor, his easy confidence and thoughtfulness, made Olaedo certain he was the right choice.
Unintentionally, or maybe not, her growing fondness for him only reinforced her decision.
