Chapter 1 - Past Life

"Hey Nathan, can I see you in my office really quick"

my boss asked over the intercom, the ringing sound of it catching me off guard. As i hurriedly finished my workload and stood to gather my things,

I reached my bosses office, and took a quick glance inside noticing she had a disappointed expression on her face.

I slowly opened the door, making my boss look up from her computer then immediately back down,

"Take a seat" she said pointing to one of the chairs in front of her desk without looking away from her computer.

I pulled the chair back and sat down, "I'm just gonna keep this simple, your fired Nathan."

"wait, why" I said as my voice creaked

"well, I've been looking over everyone's quotas for this week and, you're the only one who hasn't come even close to meeting it."

Wait I can expla- "save it Nathan," my boss said with a hint of dismay

"just pack your things and get out before I have to call security."

her words hurt, I could feel my eyes burning with every step I took.

I needed this job to help with my parents debt. It was also my pride and joy,

what am I without this job, this wasn't fair, I work just as hard as everyone but yet only I get fired.

I gathered my things and exited the building to my car. Shutting the car door, the burning sensation in my eyes was finally let out, I started crying uncontrollably and started the car.

Pulling out of the parking lot I took one more look at the building where I used to work, and all the memories started pouring in.

the time when me and three of my co workers had to stay overnight rebuilding our systems so that we wouldn't lose our clients contacts even after all of that I still enjoyed this job.

reaching into my glove box I slowly pulled out the gun I bought when my car had got broken into.

making sure there was a bullet in the chamber i put it to my head and pulled the trigger.
