"Are you okay?"
Dominic's voice reached me the moment we stepped into the living room, his eyes scanning me from head to toe.
I walked past him without answering, pulling the shawl tighter around my body as I sank into the couch, gaze fixed ahead.
"Baby…"
"Do I look like I'm not?" I snapped before I could stop myself.
I winced immediately, stealing a glance at Dominic. His face was drawn in surprise.
He pushed off the doorframe, closing the distance between us. "Now, my wife wouldn't speak to me like that unless she's upset with me."
"Since when did you become an expert at decoding my every reaction?" I muttered, refusing to meet his eyes.
"What did I do wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing," I said curtly. "Unless you think you did something. In that case, you should probably say it."
I lifted one shoulder in a slight shrug, eyes still fixed ahead.
"Are you trying to bait me into admitting something I don't even understand?" he murmured, sitting across from me.
