A young woman in business attire stood at the entrance, with three other girls who were dressed in different outfits, each with their own style.
"Young Master Akira, this is my junior, Hayama Riko. She used to be the assistant to the president of Hoshiyuu Agency and is now the president herself," Kana Sada introduced.
"Hello, Young Master Akira," Hayama Riko, who looked remarkably young, bowed deeply, speaking in polite calm tone, but her eyes show some concerns.
"I don't judge by age; I only judge by ability. Since Kana Sada asked you to be president, I trust you won't let me down," Akira replied politely in Japanese.
"Thank you, Young Master Akira," Riko said, her face lighting up with genuine joy.
The thought of Akira doubting her had been her greatest fear until now.
Apart from Hayama Riko, the remaining three were voice actors.
"This is Akizuki Rina."
"This is Yuki Sakura."
"And this is Shimizu Saori."
Kana Sada introduced each of them carefully.
Akira looked at the three girls in front of him.
Akizuki Rina was the youngest. Her golden twintails looked adorable, and her outfit resembled that of an ordinary high school girl, but her figure… well, let's just say it was comparable to Yuigahama Yui's.
Yuki Sakura was slightly older than Rina by a year. She had short black hair, not boyish at all, but elegant, complementing her white dress and refined appearance.
But in terms of figure, well...Hikigaya Komachi will outshone her.
Finally, there was Shimizu Saori. She was very different from the other two. Her expressionless face reminded Akira of Yukinoshita Yukino's previous temperament. With delicate features and long black hair, she wore a white long-sleeved top and a long black skirt. Her figure was unremarkable, which is quite ordinary for a young woman.
Normally, when facing a boss like Akira, even without needing excessive respect, everyone would show at least some curiosity or alertness.
But Saori simply observed him indifferently, which made Akira glance at her a few more times.
Judging by her experience, she was the most seasoned voice actor in Hoshiyuu Agency and had the most dubbing expertise.
"Ahem, Young Master Akira, please come in. I've gathered all the voice actors," Kana Sada said, noticing Saori's expression.
She quickly make a moved to prevent any potential misunderstandings.
"After the meeting, I want to see your abilities as voice actors," Akira said, addressing the three voice actors before walking into Hoshiyuu Agency.
With Kana Sada leading the way, and Hikigaya Komachi silently following behind Akira.
Akizuki Rina and Yuki Sakura glanced at Shimizu Saori.
"Saori senpai, aren't you nervous?" Rina whispered.
"Why would I be nervous?" Saori asked in a matter of fact tone.
Rina and Sakura exchanged unsure glances.
Even Hayama Riko seemed uncertain what to make of Saori's composure.
Seeing that Akira had walked away, she nudged them to follow.
As the three voice actors trailed behind.
...
Hoshiyuu Agency had a particular characteristic: all professional voice actors were female. At a glance, even the staff nearby were all girls.
"This is a temporary meeting room. It used to be a lecture hall," Kana Sada quietly reminded Akira.
Akira nodded, then gestured for Komachi to sit next to Kana.
Hayama Riko and the three voice actors followed, taking their seats beside Komachi.
The room fell silent, as all eyes fell on Akira — As he stood before the whiteboard.
"To be honest, I really love anime. Although I don't fully understand the work of voice actors, I believe they give life to the characters," Akira said.
The voice actors exchanged confused looks.
Some found it amusing; others, agreeing with it.
"It takes time for a new voice actor to become indispensable to an agency. Ordinary agencies can't change much, but I can. I've prepared a couple of programs," Akira continued, turning to write on the whiteboard.
Everyone stared at the words he wrote.
"Voice Actor Imitation Show?"
"All voice actors are monsters?"
"These are the two programs I've planned. The first lets voice actors imitate various scenes and characters, scored by professionals. The content should come from comics published by Future Comics Publishing House, preferably animated works," Akira explained, pointing to the first one.
The new voice actors' eyes lit up.
"Second, the 'Voice Actors Are Monsters' program is for experienced voice actors. Think of it as an audition. They select a clip, preferably from works not yet animated, and perform it," Akira continued.
Those less experienced looked surprised.
"I own Future Comics Publishing House and can also handle Flash Animation. That means — If you impress the audience, you may skip traditional auditions and directly voice the major character," Akira said.
The voice actors' faces brightened with excitement, at his statement.
"In addition to manga content, Flash Animation has original works too, in which even newcomers can audition. Generally, original animations don't use new voice actors, unless from a small company or poorly produced animation. But our original Flash Animation is top-tier, supervised by leading directors. If you're selected, you could become a popular voice actor immediately."
"You have many opportunities. My main concern now is the shortage of voice actors," Akira added, glancing at Kana Sada.
"When Young Master Akira creates a new animation production company, I'll be in charge, and Hoshiyuu Agency will have priority for auditions. Even if you don't win the top role, supporting roles are available. There are many chances to showcase your talent," Kana Sada explained.
The voice actors' expressions turned from excitement to anticipation.
"The meeting is over, you can all take some rest if you like. If you have time, read about Future Comics Publishing House publications. Think of it as a part of your work requirements," Akira concluded.
The voice actors all stood, bowed, and left.
Bolder ones introduced themselves along the way, but Akira remained indifferent, valuing ability over chatter.
Once most left, Akira turned to Hayama Riko.
"Is there a recording studio here?"
"Yes," Riko replied promptly.
"You three have thirty minutes to prepare. I'll be your evaluator. Here are your characters; prepare your lines. I'll be your partner in it, meet me in the recording studio," Akira said, handing three sheets of paper to the voice actors.
Rina and Sakura accepted theirs quickly. Shimizu Saori hesitated briefly before taking hers.
"You two, come with me, and Komachi as well," Akira said to Sada Kana and Riko, while also gesturing to Komachi to join.
.....
Inside the recording studio,
Komachi sat on the sofa — Desserts, fruits, and snacks were neatly arranged on the table in front of her.
Outside, Akira assigned tasks to Riko, who had a document listing available animations and manga.
New voice actors, having little experience, would imitate predecessors' dubbing.
This made the task slightly easier, as Akira had considered.
Unknown voice actors, often failing auditions, needed more practice and chances to demonstrate skill.
They could select non-animated works to dub.
If their performance impressed, their name would be recorded with Flash Animation.
Once the work became animated, priority would be given.
For original animations, Riko would request agency voice actors to audition. New voice actors might not always be chosen, but Riko would advocate strongly.
Even though the new Future Animation was still in process, preparations were underway. Akira explained the themes of original animations to Riko, leaving her pleasantly surprised.
Regarding the recruitment of other popular voice actors, Akira set one condition.
"Hoshiyuu Agency has its unique style; let's keep it that way," he said.
After hearing that Riko's face shows a worried look.
"I have a girlfriend and have no ulterior motives regarding the agency's voice actors. I value their ability, not their appearance," Akira added, noticing Riko's expression.
"I… I understand, Young Master Akira," Riko said, her face turning pale.
Akira didn't respond directly but glanced at Kana Sada, who lowered her head in silent guilt. She had arranged for Riko's position and feared Akira might misinterpret her intentions.
"Don't overthink. Focus on your work, not distractions," Akira said.
"Yes," Riko breathed, relieved.
.....
Less than thirty minutes later, the three voice actors entered the recording studio.
Akira also stood and walked in.
Riko, watching him, whispered to Kana Sada:
"Sada senpai, Young Master Akira… is he really just a high school student? He feels incredible."
