Chapter 114 - Chapter 114

For example, Renge once met a girl around her age while walking along the countryside path.

They became temporary friends, even though the girl was only visiting the village for summer vacation.

When Renge learned that the girl had already left, she froze in place, her eyes wide with surprise.

On this page, Akira Fujimiya focus on capturing the the various changes of Renge's emotions — from her blank expression of disbelief to the quiet turmoil flickering in her eyes, and finally, to the tears that welled up and fell as she tried to smile through them.

The lonely figure of Renge wiping her tears while the girl walked away in the distance was drawn with such precision that the feeling of heartbreak practically leapt off the page.

A few days later,

Renge lay sprawled on the floor, still immersed in her lingering melancholy. It wasn't until her older sister entered the room carrying a letter that her eyes lit up again.

When her sister told told that the letter was for her, after reading the letter she quickly realized it was from that same friend, her previous gloomy expression vanished at once.

Overcome with excitement, she immediately began to write a reply.

As she drew a picture, scribbled her message, and smiled faintly, so absorbed that she barely noticed she hadn't eaten.

"Sis, I'm hungry," she said softly, with a tired but happy smile.

"Got it, I'll go cook now," her sister replied, amused by her little sister's change of mood.

.....

After dinner,

Akira washed the dishes before heading back home.

He went to the bathroom for a quick shower, and when he came out, he noticed that the phone on the coffee table was ringing.

It was a video call from Yuigahama Yui.

He walked over and accepted it.

The screen lit up, and to his mild surprise, Yukinoshita Yukino appeared on the other end — dressed in comfortable pale-blue pajamas, her expression calm but slightly flustered.

"Yukino, look at the camera! Akira's watching!" Yui's cheerful voice rang out from the background.

"...Have you eaten dinner?" Yukino asked quietly, her gaze meeting his through the camera.

"I have," Akira replied with a small smile. "Is Asuna-san home?"

"Why do you ask?" Yukino tilted her head slightly.

"If Asuna-san isn't there, I was thinking of coming over," Akira said lightly.

"She's home. And the food was delicious.Don't come over," Yukino said with a small roll of her eyes.

"That's a pity," Akira chuckled. "Next time, I'll just have Yui go to your apartment instead."

"Akira, you big bad guy!" Yui's voice exclaimed playfully, as she finally appear at the screen.

"Yui, your pajamas are a little too small," Akira teased after seeing her.

Yui let out a startled squeak, while Yukino gave him a withering look that was more embarrassed than angry.

.....

The video call didn't last long.

After hanging up, Akira returned to his bedroom and turned on his computer.

Among his emails, one stood out — it was from Kana Sada.

The message contained information about the voice actor agency they had discussed earlier.

Its full name was Hoshiyuu Agency.

Currently, Hoshiyuu Agency had only three well-known voice actresses, about thirty newcomers, and nearly eighty trainees studying at its school.

Few of those students would ever make it into the professional scene, but that was normal for the industry.

The agency's unique feature was that all of its voice actors were female. Among them, the three established professionals were the pillars of the company — all beautiful, talented, and highly respected. Two specialized in very distinct voice styles, while the third had a wide range and could perform nearly any role convincingly.

Kana's note concluded: as long as those three stayed, Hoshiyuu Agency would continue running smoothly.

Akira reviewed the report and found that it matched his expectations perfectly.

Most of the animation projects he planned to produce focused on female-led stories, so the agency would never run out of work opportunities. The only uncertainty was whether the voice actors might develop overly "artistic" interpretations — but that wasn't something he needed to worry about right now.

Just as he was about to shut down his computer, another email came through.

This one was from Sato Yumiko.

It contained a list of animation works from the past two years, plus several manga series currently in publication.

Yumiko had also been in contact with Kana Sada but hadn't mentioned Akira's deeper involvement.

After quickly reading the key points, Akira made a few notes before turning off the computer.

Right then, his phone buzzed again, and—

"Akira nee-san, Good evening!!,"came the cheerful voice of Hikigaya Komachi after he received the call.

"Good evening, Komachi," Akira said, looking out the window where the night lights shimmered.

"I talked to my parents," Komachi said after a short pause, "and learned more about what it's like to be a voice actor. I think I want to try it."

"There's no tuition fee at the voice actor school," Akira replied calmly. "When you qualify, you can treat me to dinner."

"No problem! When that day comes, I'll invite you to our house for dinner," Komachi said, sounding excited.

"Send me your home address. I'll pick you up tomorrow morning," Akira said, stretching his arms.

"Okay, Komachi will send it right after this call!" she replied brightly.

"Go to bed early," Akira said. "And tell Hikigaya-san good night from me and let him know that if he wants to tag along tomorrow, he'll have to take the train."

"Onii-chan said he's not coming. He said he trusts Akira nee-san to take care of Komachi," she replied.

" More like he already have made some plans with Totsuka-san," Akira thought aloud.

"Akira nee-san, could it be that Onii-chan really—?" Komachi trailed off.

"It's very likely," Akira said in a teasing tone. "I'll tell you when I have proof."

...

Saturday —Early the next morning —

Akira woke up before dawn for his routine jog.

Hiratsuka-sensei hadn't shown up this time, likely still avoiding the humiliation of losing to him again.

After a quick breakfast prepared by Kawasaki Saki, he hopped onto his motorcycle and set off.

The Hikigaya residence wasn't far from Sobu High, though it took a few kilometers of riding through quiet suburban roads.

He got delayed because of red light and arrived around eight o'clock.

Akira parked, knocked on the door, and waited their silently.

After a moment, Hikigaya Hachiman opened it, still looking half-asleep.

"Come in," Hachiman muttered, turning away to fetch a pair of slippers.

"Excuse me," Akira said politely as he stepped inside.

In the living room,

Komachi could be seen bustling about in the kitchen.

"Akira nee-san! I made breakfast for you!" she said, emerging proudly with a plate in her hands.

"I've already eaten," Akira said, shaking his head lightly.

"Komachi guessed that might be the case," she said, smiling slyly. "But I thought Akira nee-san wouldn't mind a little breakfast, right?"

"Well, okay," Akira said, taking a seat at the table.

Hachiman yawned as he ate quietly, his eyes half-lidded as usual. Komachi sat down beside Akira, watching him expectantly.

While, he took a bite of it,it was different from saki's cooking.

"How is it? Komachi's cooking?" she asked eagerly, her eyes sparkling.

"Exactly like a cute little sister cooking" Akira said with a faint smile.

"That's exactly what I wanted to hear," Komachi replied, blushing slightly as she picked at her food.

"It tastes good — though it's slightly overcooked," Akira added with an honest tone.

"Komachi, I'll handle the dishes," Hachiman said suddenly, standing up after finishing his plate.

"Onii-chan, I'll help!" Komachi said quickly, grabbing her own dishes and following him into the kitchen.

When they were done, Akira and Komachi stepped outside. Upon seeing his motorcycle, Komachi hesitated a little.

"Don't worry," Akira said reassuringly, handing her a helmet. "I have a license, and I don't joke around when it comes to safety."

"Okay… I trust you. Just don't go too fast, or I'll get scared," Komachi said, fastening her helmet.

.....

The ride was surprisingly smooth.

Akira obeyed every signal, stayed in his lane, and never once accelerated unnecessarily. Komachi, who had been nervous at first, quickly felt at ease.

He drives so carefully...Akira nee-san really is a good person, she thought as the wind brushed past.

Less than half an hour later, they arrived at Hoshiyuu Agency — a modest three-story building.

At the entrance stood Kana Sada, who smiled warmly when she saw them.

"Good morning, Young Master Akira," Kana said politely, walking over to greet him.

Komachi dismounted, wide-eyed as she stared at the building.

While Akira parked the motorcycle neatly, removed his helmet, and handed Kana a sealed envelope.

"Everything's in here," he said.

Kana glanced over the document inside the envelope briefly before nodding.

"Please, this way. I'll take you both to the manager's office."

She turned with a graceful motion, leading Akira Fujimiya and Hikigaya Komachi toward the glass doors of Hoshiyuu Agency — the beginning of yet another quiet yet meaningful chapter in Akira's long and carefully woven plans.
