Adam Vs Tomi
There's almost nothing in the room they are playing in, just like in every other match. There's only the 10 cards, the two players, the referee, the table and the two chairs of course. Adam and Tomi sitting on opposite ends of the table, facing each other, the game is about to start. The referee is now about to deal the cards when the clock hits the hour, signaling the start of the Joker's Gambit.
(Note: The referees and players will call the Sub-Rounds as 'Phase' from now on)
Referee: Round 1, phase 1, first half start!
Adam (Okay I already know what I will do, because there is not a lot of time to think about a strategy only when the game starts. My strategy will be something like this)
Spamming in the strongest possible combination that he can make with his hand. With the starting hand, the best card to use in the first half is the card valued '1'
Both of them already decided what to do in the first half.
Adam used a '1' and Tomi used a '2'.
The 2nd half of the first phase starts and they immediately know the card they will use
Adam used a 'J' and Tomi used a '1'
Referee: 'J' is stronger than '1', so phase 1 is won by Adam! Phase 2 starts now!
The two cards that were used to duel are 'J' and '1', so they cannot be used by the player they get used by, but the other two are still usable as they did not duel yet with those cards.
Adam's remaining hand: '1' '2' '3' '4' - wins this round - 1
Tomi's remaining hand: '2' '3' '4' 'J' - wins this round - 0
Adam (Okay, I won the first phase, 4 more to go, the strongest I can do now is to play a '4' in the second half, the first does not matter)
The first half is done, Adam used a '1' and Tomi used a '2'
The second half didn't last much longer either.
Adam used a '4' and Tomi used a 'J'
Referee: 'J' is stronger than '4', so phase 2 is won by Tomi! Phase 3 starts now!
Adam (Wha-? No, I just lost my strongest cards I had after winning with the Joker, that's not so good!)
Adam's remaining hand: '1' '2' '3' - wins this round - 1
Tomi's remaining hand: '2' '3' '4' - wins this round - 1
Tomi: Seems like your strategy is failing you, Adam.
Adam: Come on! You just got lucky! The round is not over yet!
Tomi: Oh, you think that? I'm pretty sure it is.
Adam: What? What do you mean?
Tomi: Just check what cards I have left in my hand.
Tomi shows Adam his remaining cards
Adam: What? WAIT!
This was the moment Adam realized, there is no possible combination of card uses that would make Adam win - This Round is a guaranteed win for Tomi from now on, in the best case scenarios, Adam either can make two ties and a loss for himself with his last card which would be a '1' then, or win one, beating Tomi's '2' with the '3' and then lose the other two.
Tomi: You lost already, sorry... HAHA!
Adam: Referee... I will give this round to Tomi... can we... start Round 2?
Referee: Of course.
Adam (I made a mistake... What was it? Is the strongest option not necessarily the best then? I lost... because my cards were all one lower than his? But If I think about it, then I was doomed after the first phase, because the situation was the same, but it all happened. So how does this game need to be played then?)
Referee: The 1st Round ended, the results: Adam 0 - 1 Tomi.
Referee: Round 2, phase 1, first half start!
Tomi: This will be even easier than I thought, you are as good as dead!
Adam (I don't care what he's talking about, the reason I lost is... ah... I got it! The reason I lost is because my 'J' dueled his '1', and these are the two cards that have the biggest difference among all, winning a duel with the biggest possible value difference is basically the same as losing!)
Tomi: What's up Adam? Giving up already?
Adam: Why are you so happy? The game is not over yet.
Tomi: Sure, sure. Then let's not waste any time!
Adam (If he knows what I just figured out then he will probably not play Joker, but I don't think that he would also try the as in the first round, he sure I'm not like that... so maybe in the 2nd half I should play a... '3'? Wait... could I just make him think I will do the same as the first round? Maybe he will then think that I hope that he will something differently, or that I will only change my strategy on the 2nd round)
1st half ended, Adam used a '1' and Tomi used a '4'
Adam (I know what I have to do, this better be work!)
The 2nd half results - Adam used a '4' and Tomi used a '3'
Tomi: WHAAAT?
Referee: '4' is stronger than '3', so phase 1 is won by Adam! Phase 2 starts now!
Adam's remaining hand: '1' '2' '3' 'J' - wins this round - 1
Tomi's remaining hand: '1' '2' '4' 'J' - wins this round - 0
Adam: Just like I said... haha... This game is not over yet!
Tomi: It was just luck! So enjoy it until you can because you won't be able to for long!
Adam: Sure, whatever makes you feel better.
Adam (My strategy worked, first, I made him believe that I want to use the same strategy as last round with just simply using '1' in the first half! Or at least, that's what he thought I want him to believe, but I knew that he knows that I'm smarter than that, so he most probably thought that my plan is to make him play a '1' again so that I will be able to counter him perfectly with a '2' - So that's why he used a "3", to perfectly counter my attempt of perfect counter, but instead, he got perfectly countered with my '4' - With the lowest possible value difference, I won, this is a huge advantage!)
Referee: Half a minute left!
Adam (Okay, now the problem is... I don't know what to do next... If I think about it, playing my '2' in the second half is the most safe, because he can't counter that perfectly so I will guaranteed to be in the lead even if I lose this phase)
1st half ended, Adam used a '1' and Tomi used a '1'
Adam (Or should I use the Joker now? I can't get the worst case scenario like this...)
The 2nd half results - Adam used a 'J' and Tomi used a 'J'
Referee: Both players used Joker, So the duel is between the two '1' cards which is of course, now a tie and that two card is now out. Start phase 3!
Adam's remaining hand: '2' '3' 'J' - wins this round - 1
Tomi's remaining hand: '2' '4' 'J' - wins this round - 0
Adam (That can be problematic... What if? What if he wants a tie now by having only our two Joker left in our hands? It would be more profitable for him than me because he already won one round)
Tomi: Is there a problem, Adam?
Adam: Of course not, let's just, not waste our time shall we?
Adam (If that's his plan, then I know what I need to do)
1st half ended, Adam used a '2' and Tomi used a '2'
Adam (He will now use Joker! for sure! Because in this situation what should I possibly do? If I wouldn't use Joker, then I would lose because he has '4' and 'J' and I guarantee lose. Right now, he doesn't think I have catched up on his plan, I must stop him. This Round became so... weird... He plays for a tie and I need to avoid that at all cost! He wants me to use Joker here, that would be a guarantee win this phase, but would cause a tie in the end isn't it? So I will intentionally lose this one!)
The 2nd half results - Adam used a '3' and Tomi used a '4'
Referee: '3' is stronger than '2' so Adam won this phase. Let's begin the 4th phase!
Adam's remaining hand: '2' 'J' - wins this round - 1
Tomi's remaining hand: '2' 'J' - wins this round - 1
Adam is shocked, why did Tomi do that? Did he realise that Adam knows about his strategy?
Tomi: What's the problem? Adam?
Adam: ... Okay, I get it, you did it, let's just end it... just play out cards
Tomi: That's what I'm talking about!
1st half ended, Adam used a 'J' and Tomi used a '2'
Adam: You really are just... nah... it doesn't matter anymore, I'm gonna lose this and the 5th phase so it's just ended up being a tie after all...
Tomi: HAHAHA! Hell yeah! Tie by the double Joker or not, I don't care! you cannot win this Round anymore!
Adam: Huhh... let's get through this...
The 2nd half results - Adam used a '2' and Tomi used a 'J'
Referee: ...
Adam: Can we just skip? We all know what will happen.
Referee: Tomi? Are you okay with that?
Tomi: Of course, yeah, let's do that!
Referee: The outcome got determined as we are done with the first half of the phase 4, so lets skip and see the results!
Tomi: You know Adam... You were not even that bad, after all, but unfortunately I'm just BETTER
Referee: The 2nd Round ended, the results: Adam 1 - 1 Tomi.
Adam: Sorry- What...?
Referee: The Round has been won by player number 34 so Adam!
Tomi: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? IT'S A TIE! IT'S OBVIOUSLY IS!
Referee: No, Sir, Adam won 3 phases and you, Tomi, won one.
Tomi: I WON THE LAST TWO!!!
Adam: Seriously... What happened?
Tomi got enough, he is surely one of the many men out there with anger issues. Not to mention that in Tomi's eyes, his plan was executed perfectly, just to be ruined by the hell even know what. He snapped and overturned the table then hit Adam on the face so hard that Adam fell on his back and got his nose bleeding but the referee stops him by grabbing his shoulder.
Referee: Enough of this! Violence is forbidden here!
Tomi: Are you trying to tell me what to do!?
Referee: Because of your behaviour, you two will not play the potentially last Round, Adam won this game and you lost because of breaking the rules of BWCG!
Tomi: Don't be stupid! THEN FIX YOUR STUPID GAME! AND FIND A BETTER REFEREE BECAUSE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A TIE!
Referee: I made no mistake sir. Plus just to let you know, one more attempt of violence and you will be eliminated from the entire show.
Adam is now already sitting, but just on the floor. The hit was not too strong to cause him to be unconscious, but his nose is still bleeding, luckily, he had a tissue with him.
Adam: Ouch ouch ouch... Why was it necessary? This is also the second time by the way, in the action game they tried to hit me too...
Referee: So now that Tomi is lost, because of breaking the rule of violence, these are the results of this match!
Referee: The Joker's gambit game has ended! The first Round was won by Tomi, and the two after that was won by Adam. Final results: Adam 2 - 1 Tomi.
