Chapter 31 - Trap

Somewhere else, right before the 'Action Game' ended

Referee-1: Sir, they are about to finish the game. When should we get ready with the next one?

?????: Exactly one day later.

Referee-1: One day? Isn't that a little too soon? You haven't even told me about the game yet.

?????: Of course, because I don't know yet what it will be.

Referee-1: But sir, if we want a game tomorrow we should announce it immediately about the game and its rules!

?????: You know, it took so long for you to tell all of that (1 sentence) that I already figured out the game.

Referee-1: Sir what? That was a little too fast don't you think?

?????: The game name is "Joker's Gambit", and now I will tell you the rules of the game!

(One rule explanation later)

Referee-1: Should then I go and announce it right now?

?????: Absolutely, oh, but one more thing. I want YOU to be the referee of Todor's match.

Referee-1: Of course, sir.

Now back to when all the "Joker's Gambit" matches were just a few minutes to start, the two players - in this case Bandeer and Todor - had to go through a body search. Bandeer was first, and there was no problem with him, he went inside the room and sat down on his seat, and heard the referee as body searching Todor - There was something at Todor that should have not been! What could that be? Is it even meaningful? Does it matter? There are some forbidden items that can not be bringed with you into the matches. Like any kind of gun, knives, lighters, swords or any kind of weapons, but they are completely for safety purposes, and not because it would let one gain advantage in a game. Shortly after, both Todor and the referee walked in the room. Bandeer noticed something on Todor's hand, it was not there before he (Bandeer) got body checked. Something wet is on his hands.

Bandeer: What's with your hands?

Todor: I just washed my hands...

Bandeer: That's bullshit! there is no tap near us and I heard you and the referee just outside of the door! Plus why wouldn't you dry your hands or wash them exactly now?

Todor: Not important... But...

Todor: You seem a bit unsure about yourself, Bandeer. Is everything ok?

Bandeer: Me? Unsure? Not at all, you know you can be as smart as you want to be, it will not be enough against my luck!

Todor: It's sad that luck is not really a factor this time.

Bandeer: What are you saying?

Todor: I said that I do not need to rely on luck at all, and if you do rely on it, then you already lost, it's time already for those who are not smart to lose, not fun watching people just be dumb lucky.

Bandeer: Hey! I'm not just lucky I'm also smart! tch... You're doing this for a reason don't you?

Todor: Hmm. I thought it would take you longer to figure it out, maybe I underestimated you?

Bandeer: I don't even care anymore what you say about me, but... the thing you said before...

Todor: What did I say before exactly?

Bandeer: You know exactly what I talk about!

Todor: How would I know?

Bandeer: You damn well know what I'm talking about! But you won't tell it because you are just bluffing!

Todor is unfazed.

Todor: So you're calling me a liar now? It's not like I lied about that I will win against you.

Bandeer: We will see about it!

Referee-1: The clock about to hit the time

Todor: Bandeer...

Bandeer: Hm?

Todor: I will finally show you... The true nature of the games of BWCG!

The clock hits the hour, the game starts at this moment.

Referee-1: Start!

Bandeer right at the start of the first half, picked up the cards and held them like anyone else would.

This way he sees all his cards at the same time. Todor picks up his cards, but differently, not like Bandeer or how others would. Todor picked up the cards in a way that they are still stacked on top of each other, so that in a specific perspective, it could be even seen as if he would hold just one card only.

Bandeer: If you are ready, we can start, I selected my card already.

Todor: Let's do that.

Todor used a '?' and Bandeer used a '2' in the first half.

The card is not visible, because... It's upside down?!

Bandeer: Hey, you put it upside down, you know the rules say you have to place it face up.

Todor: I did. The card is face up.

Bandeer, not understanding why Todor says that, look down at his card he played again, or.. Rather, his cards? That's right, what Bandeer noticed is that Todor placed down multiple cards, and the top card is face down, but the card under it then should be face up?

Bandeer: I hate you!

Todor: Already? It's just the beginning.

Bandeer: If it would even matter what's there!

Todor: You can never know, but one thing is for sure, I will win the first phase this round.

Bandeer: Oh really? What makes you think that?!

Todor puts his cards in his hand, which are still stacked on top of each other down the table, and even face up. The one card Bandeer can see is a '1'.

Bandeer: You know, I literally can't lose this phase, and that is something that... I know this for a fact!

Todor (And he walked straight into my trap, it will be just as easy as I thought)

Bandeer: Okay! Let's make the second half!

Todor used a '1' and Bandeer used a 'J' in the second half.

The referee removes the card that is on top of another card that Todor played on the first half and it's not other than a 'J'

Referee-1: Todor used a 'J' in the first half.
