Valentina turned to Isadora with a smile she had to hustle from the depths of her soul to form.
"You're very kind for cooking for him. Thank you," she said.
"Oh it's no Biggie. I used to cook all of the time for the boys when I was still in Neravalle. Right, Sonia?"
The boys exchanged looks, and this time, Luciano actually caught on.
It was then he realized he had messed up.
"You did that? How nice of you. Very nice," Valentina said in a squeaky tone that almost sent Salvatore laughing out loud.
"You know actually," he began, and Vittorio sighed under his breath, whilst Elio smiled already knowing where this was headed. "Darling Isadora was just asking Carpo if he's a free man," he said.
Vittorio threw him a stern look which he shrugged away. But deep down, Vittorio was dying of laughter, especially seeing Luciano's face.
Salvatore expertly avoided Luciano's gaze. At least not until he had his thrill.
