Gary found himself back where he had just caught Joltik.
He looked at his watch.
It didn't seem like any time has passed. There was still an hour before boarding starts.
"Ugghhhh!"
He felt a headache as the Ninja training and Cursed Corpse creation started integrating in his mind.
But it went away as soon as it came.
"Char!?"
Charmander got worried, so Gary patted her head.
"Don't worry. Just a minor headache. And great battle!"
"Char!"
She grinned and gave him a thumbs up as Gary returned her to her Pokeball.
And then, he boarded the plane to Kalos to get that one of a kind Froakie, who will evolve into Greninja with bond phenomenon.
On the plane, he wondered about the two abilities he has gotten.
Ninja Training from a Chunin is really great. Though his body can't keep up with it right now and he doesn't have chakra, perhaps he can use Aura?
In this life, he has done lots of exercises to try to awaken psychic powers and aura.
But no matter how much he stared at a spoon and tried to bend it with his mind, nothing happened.
And no matter how much he meditated near a waterfall and tried to sense his surroundings, he didn't awaken Aura.
Can Aura even be awakened?
He didn't know. He wasn't too big of a Pokemon nerd in his past life to know such things.
Ninja training starts with trying to mould chakra. Perhaps that will help him?
Anyway, the second ability he got is Cursed Corpse Creation.
It requires three dead individuals to be used as cores so that they can interact with each other and gain consciousness.
And it requires Cursed Energy as well.
It is not an innate Cursed Technique, but something anyone can learn. Principal Yaga is known for it, and since Mechamaru has Puppet Manipulation, he learnt it.
And with Meta-knowledge, Mechamaru knows how to create conscious, self-sustaining puppets like Panda.
Gary can't really use this ability either, since he doesn't have cursed energy and three dead Pokemons.
And he isn't much interested in researching this ability by killing Pokemons. He will just collect any dead Pokemon's remains he comes across. Which is very rare.
Creating Fusion Pokemon huh?
Anyway, right now, he is excited to go to Kalos.
A league officially begins from 1st April of a year and ends on the 1st April of next year. A whole year.
So any trainer has 11 months to collect atleast 8 gym batches and then the conference happens in the last month.
Since he can get a car, he doesn't necessarily need to spend most of the time traveling.
But for getting Mega Stones, he needs to first evolve Charmander and Magikarp. Since Pokemons can vaguely sense their Mega stones in the anime.
Well, there is no rush.
Gary put on the face mask and slept through the journey.

"Finally!
After 7 long hours of flight, Gary finally arrived at Luminose City, Kalos.
There is a chance that the special Froakie isn't here yet, since if each league takes a year, the XY plot might start 5-6 years later.
But it wouldn't hurt to try.
So he headed to Professor Sycamore's lab.
After arriving there, he approached Professor Sycamore.
"Professor Sycamore, I am Gary Oak from Pallet Town, Kanto region."
"Oh? Come in! You have come to—"
"No. I am participating in Indigo league this year. I just came to talk to you. I am a fan of your work!"
"Really!? Hahaha! Come in!"
"Thank you."
Since he isn't participating in Kalos league, he can't really get a starter from the Professor.
Unless there are special circumstances. Afterall, Professor Sycamore gave Chespin to Clemont.
And the strongest special circumstance is the Pokemon wanting to go with him.
"So, what brings you all the way to Kalos when Indigo League has just started? It can't be just because of my research, can it?"
Right now, Professor Sycamore hasn't published anything about Mega Evolution. He has just theorised that there might be another stage of evolution beyond the final stage.
"Because some days ago, I saw a Greninja. Which is not common in Kanto at all. And it looked different."
"Different?"
"Mhm. Here."
Gary took out a sketch he has made of Mega Greninja. He has also shown it to his Grandpa for his lie being consistent.
Professor Sycamore looked at the sketch carefully.
"It really doesn't look like Greninja."
"Yes. Then I read about your paper on the hypothetical extra stage of evolution. That's why I want to research about it and find out about what I saw."
"Oh! You are Professor Oak's grandson!? No wonder I thought that Oak sounded similar."
"Yeah. So, can you tell me where can I find a Froakie? I want to get a Froakie to carefully observe him and found clues about that evolution."
"Ah! I have a starter Froakie left. Let me introduce you to him."
How convenient.
So, Gary followed him to a room.
Where a Charmander and really happy looking Froakie were playing together.
Oh. So the special Froakie isn't here yet.
Gary mentally shrugged. He will just have his Mega Greninja beat that brat's Greninja in the future.
"Char?"
"Froakie?"
Both turned towards him.
"Hey guys! I am Gary Oak. Nice to meet you."
"Char!"
"Froakie!"
Gary squatted to Froakie's level and asked, "Hey, do you want to come with me?"
"Froakie!"
Froakie smiled and happily nodded.
Gary smiled and took out a Pokeball.
Enlarging it, he softly bonked it on Froakie.
Froakie became a red light and entered the Pokeball.
The Pokeball shook once.
The Pokeball shook twice.
Froakie was caught.
"Alright everyone! Meet your new friend!"
Gary took out all his Pokemons.
"Char!"
A happy Charmander.
"Jol-tik!"
An enraged Joltik.
*Splash* *Splash*
A dumb looking Magikarp.
"Froakie!"
A really happy Froakie.
Gary quickly put some Pokemon food in front of him and applied Pokemon healing spray.
Due to that Multiversal meeting, he had forgotten to heal Joltik.
The tiny cute Pokemon calmed down and started happily munching on it.
"Do you like it?"
"Joltik!"
"Here everyone."
Gary gave every Pokemon Pokemon food, along with the other wild Charmander.
"Char!"
"Char."
Wild Charmander tried to get cozy with his Charmander, who just scoffed at him.
Wild Charmander got rejected.
Poor guy.
