THUD!

The door crept open, and in entered Ash, who was pulling his large black bag behind him.

His eyes drifted around the room until they finally met a large open window, two separate beds, and walls filled with painted papers.

And the boy who was lying on one of those beds bolted upward, clearly stunned by the lad.

He got up, brows frowning slightly.

Then it hit him, perhaps too late.

"I thought she said you would arrive tomorrow," he said in a whisper, finally fixing his figure and walking toward Ash, who had just entered. "Sorry about the mess." He stretched out his hand, and Ash, totally unbothered by the pending spectacle, shook it in response.

"Asha," Ash said, shaking it firmly. "Call me Ash."

The boy nodded his head, shaking it to the left to push aside the strand of hair that was obstructing his eye.

"I'm Xavier," he shot next, a smile creeping on his lips.

Ash turned his eyes to the surrounding room, slightly shifting his gaze to the top of Xavier's bed, where paintings of strange, dark-colored figures hung, some with features so vast they would, by most, be deemed nightmares.

"Creepy stuff," Ash said, drawing closer to the bed with Xavier following behind him, his lips clearly holding back small, restricted giggles.

Xavier stretched out his left hand, its palm pointed to the picture of a dark-haired woman. It took a second, with Ash still intrigued by the actions of the boy who stood beside him.

Suddenly, the drawn woman's eyes began to blink mysteriously as her once-drawn irises reacted; her face twisted and turned toward Ash, who stood there completely puzzled.

His heart skipped as he turned his head to Xavier, overthinking the sudden events.

"I'm a psychic," Xavier said, his smile still lingering. "I can control what I draw… and other things."

Ash immediately turned to him, his expression showing sudden bewilderment.

"Teach me," he instinctively whispered, causing Xavier to burst into laughter.

"No… no, no, I'm serious," Ash dropped his bag, moving his hands to touch Xavier's shoulders. "Teach me," he said again, this time sounding serious.

Xavier slightly shook his head, moving from Ash's hold and walking to the base of his bed.

"It's kind of innate," he said, fixing the blankets that were scattered across it. "Like it can't be taught until it comes to you naturally. It's like trying to teach a newborn baby how to walk."

Ash just clicked his tongue, clearly disappointed by Xavier's words.

He moved back to the bag he had dropped, picked it up, and then approached the other side of the room, which housed an empty bed.

"So, did you come with the principal?" Xavier asked, eyes still focused on the bedsheets he was fixing.

"Yeah," Ash replied, opening the large bag and removing a mountain of dark black clothing.

Xavier paused for a while when he saw this, his eyes now fixed on Ash's actions.

It took a few seconds, one nearing a minute.

Until Ash raised his head, clearly bothered by the stare.

"What?" he asked, clearly puzzled; brows raised and everything.

"Uh…" Xavier was hesitant as he held up his head in thought. "It's nothing, you just… remind me of someone."

Ash shrugged his shoulders, completely brushing it off.

Turning his head to proceed with what he was doing.

{30 minutes later}

"And last but not least," Xavier raised his hands dramatically, "the principal's office," he said, causing Ash to giggle lightly.

"Yeah, thanks," Ash said, eyes clearly faking fatigue.

"See you when you get back." Xavier turned back, waving his hand dismissively without glancing behind him.

Ash turned to the door, its middle housing an emblem that wrote the woman's name, one that Ash had no idea of the power that stood behind it.

THUD!

It opened by itself, causing Ash to flinch inwardly.

He turned his eyes to the inside, right in the middle of the office.

Principal Weems was staring right at him, her smile embracing her lips.

Ash frowned inwardly, but it was faint enough not to be noticed.

He entered, closing the door as he neared.

He pulled back a seat, sat down, then interlocked his eyes with hers, forcing a smile to show on his lips.

"How was it?" she said, her smile almost seeming too genuine. "I heard Xavier gave you a tour."

Ash's mouth almost blasted open with laughter, completely taken aback by her words.

"It's kinda obvious why he did it," Ash said, regaining his composure. "You didn't need to ask him to."

She sighed after his words, now finally comprehending the intelligence Miss Frump once told her about.

She shook her head, leaning to the side of the desk, then pulled out some papers.

"Here's your timetable," she said, leaning back in her chair.

Ash pulled it closer, observing the classes.

"Beautiful," she said, raising her hand to support her head. "The school, isn't it?"

Ash paused for a while, clearly thinking of an answer.

"Decent," he said dismissively, hands now rising to the side of the chair he was seated on, clinching it in an attempt to leave.

"Did Miss Frump inform you of the deal?" Her words finally sounded serious, and Ash, noticing the shift in her tone, stopped rising.

He nodded his head, his body now feeling uncomfortable.

"Limited outdoor permission," she stated, the sentence clearly continuing, "a strict nutritious diet with the exception of an all-you-can-eat dinner; two-times-a-week compulsory therapy session, given your… history." Ash paused, holding back a smile. "Oh, and no drugs."

His smile completely faded. He was sure that Grandma Frump had ratted him out.

"Drugs are illegal," she said, noticing his displeasure. "And you are simply too young for any type of alcohol."

He pouted his lips, causing them to rumble as his breath moved past their petals.

"I think that would be all, Mr. Ash," she said, lifting her leg and then crossing it with the other. Ash stood sighing while walking to the door. "And if there is anything you need, just let me know."

He stopped dead in his tracks before his hands could even hold the handle.

Principal Weems bit her lip, inwardly cursing herself for unnecessarily bringing up the sentence.

"There is one thing." Ash turned to her, pointing a finger, this time completely overtaken by a wide-open smile. "I need an iPhone."
