Chapter 52 - Enid’s Investigation

"Do you know where they are?" Enid was thinking about leaving the academy somehow to look for those who wanted to summon Slenderman.

She didn't want to wait for Jonathan to have a very big reason to act, since she believed she could prevent it much earlier. She wouldn't have to worry about a hunter anymore if she became the helper of one.

Wednesday, intrigued by what they would discover, decided to go with her.

"If they summon Slenderman, there will be a massive disappearance of people in the town. If they already blame us for something we haven't done, I really don't even want to imagine what would happen afterward." Wednesday was holding Enid's computer, browsing through different websites where they talked about the entity.

"Do you really think it's that easy to summon a spirit like that?" Enid didn't think that just anyone could summon Slenderman, who was practically a tale invented by people.

"Do you doubt it?" Wednesday looked at Enid as if she couldn't believe she thought this would be impossible to achieve.

Enid nodded slightly and said: "Yes, it's still very hard for me to take it in. But what I mean is that one thing is the things we can see, and another is what we can't…"

"Listen to this, Slenderman does not possess a concrete existence. His being goes back to time immemorial, and he is considered a legendary entity, impossible to fully comprehend. The real nature of Slenderman is therefore hidden, tied to the world of esotericism and horror, without a true or definitive interpretation of what he is. Slenderman is mysterious, an enigma, and unknown…"

"Due to his occultist existence, Slenderman possesses a wide variety of arcane abilities, which can only be described as supernatural events to us. The exact limits of his abilities are unknown, but that doesn't prevent him from using them in many varied and terrifying ways."

The more she heard about him, the more nervous Enid became, and she asked directly: "In the hypothetical case that those people manage to summon Slenderman, could a hunter defeat him?"

"I'm not sure to what extent that hunter's abilities can take care of these problems, but you heard it before, even his ancestor defeated death itself." Wednesday said, slamming her computer shut as soon as she saw students approaching them.

"Should we keep investigating?" Enid began to regret her decision.

"Are you afraid of dying at the hands of a ghost?" Wednesday wouldn't take a step back in this investigation; she never abandoned a glass once she was interested.

"That's not it, it's just that I don't plan on dying at the hands of a ghost or something I can't see." Enid, even being a werewolf, feared true darkness.

That made clear the levels of power in this world.

What only exorcists can see and touch, that is what is truly terrifying.

Wednesday walked away to attend her botany class; she thought that if anyone could access darkness so easily, having hunters at the school would make the other students do stupid things.
