Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 - Injustice League(II)

The swamp shook with each step of the colossal plant beast. Its vines whipped across the clearing, shattering trees like matchsticks. Poison spores rained down like deadly snow, hissing where they touched water.

The team scattered, barely staying alive.

"Fall back!" Aqualad shouted, shielding Artemis from a snapping vine. "Stay mobile!"

But retreat wasn't an option. The monster was too large, too destructive. If it broke free of the swamp, entire cities would be swallowed.

Ryotaro's molten armor flickered, his chest heaving. He had pushed Magma to its limits. His flames dimmed, the heat faltering under the sheer size of their enemy.

He growled, ripping the Driver from his waist. "Not enough…"

Robin slid to his side, panting from dodging Atomic Skull's radiation blasts. His domino mask was cracked, but his eyes burned with focus.

"Got any better ideas, Ryo?"

Ryotaro reached into his coat, and the world seemed to still. He pulled free not just the Joker Memory, but another device—sleek, twin-belted.

The Double Driver.

Robin blinked. "That's another belt"

Ryotaro's voice was calm, but heavy with decision. "System. Withdraw the W Driver."

A faint chime answered in his ears. [Double Driver online. Cyclone and Joker Memories compatible.]

He turned to Robin, pressing the green Memory and another W driver into his friend's hand. "You'll take Cyclone. I'll take Joker. Together…"

Robin's eyes widened as he realized. "I am also going to be a Rider?"

Ryotaro nodded. "No but close enough. Two halves but One ."

Robin smirked, despite the chaos. "Heh. Guess Batman didn't train me for this."

The beast roared, lashing out. Artemis loosed an explosive arrow, blowing apart one vine, but another slammed into the ground near Robin, sending him tumbling.

"Robin!" she screamed, sprinting to his side. She pulled him into cover behind a toppled tree, checking him quickly. "You're not dying on me, Bird Boy."

"I'm fine," Robin muttered, wincing. He tightened his grip on the Cyclone Memory. "Just… help us get set."

Artemis looked at Ryotaro, who stood tall in the clearing, vines snapping toward him. His Joker Memory pulsed like a heartbeat.

"Go," she said, dragging Robin into position. "I'll buy you the seconds."

Ryotaro pressing the Joker Memory.

JOKER!

The voice rang deep, dark, full of grit.

Robin mirrored him, pressing the Cyclone Memory.

CYCLONE!

The wind howled in answer, emerald and fierce. They both slotted their Memories into the twin slots of the each Double Driver. Ryotaro's on the right, Robin's on the left.

The Driver split in half, belts swinging to each of their waists, locking with a sharp clack.

"Ready?" Ryotaro called.

Robin smirked, forcing his pain aside. "Always."

Together, they cried:

""HENSHIN!""

The Driver roared.

CYCLONE! JOKER!

Emerald wind and violet fire exploded outward, spiraling around them. Their voices merged into one.

"SAIKYO! KAMEN RIDER W!"

The light fused. Their bodies became one.

When the glow faded, a new warrior stood in the swamp.

Half emerald green, sleek and alive with flowing wind. Half deep black, sharp and unyielding like purple. The two halves breathed as one, perfect symmetry.

Kamen Rider W.

The plant beast recoiled at the sudden surge of power. Even the Injustice League hesitated, eyes widening.

Joker clapped slowly, his grin wide. "Ohhh, now the show gets interesting."

W's eyes glowed, twin red visors burning in the fog.

A voice echoed inside the helmet. Robin's voice, sharp and quick. "Whoa. Ryo, I can feel… everything. Your instincts. Your strength. It's like we're—"

Ryotaro's voice overlapped, steady and focused. "—partners. Trust the flow. Left side, speed. Right side, strike."

"Got it."

The Rider moved, a blur of emerald and violet. The plant monster swung a vine the size of a building, but W leapt into the air, twisting like wind itself. Robin's Cyclone half pulled them upward, while Ryotaro's Joker half drove their heel downward in a brutal axe kick.

"Rider Kick!"

The blow split the vine clean in half, sending it crashing to the swamp floor.

Artemis stared, momentarily forgetting to shoot. "…Okay, that's actually badass."

The battle escalated.

Black Adam roared, charging at the Rider. "Child's play!" His fist glowed with lightning.

W met him head-on, green wind spiraling around their left hand, violet flame engulfing the right. They caught Adam's punch with one hand—wind deflecting the raw power—before countering with a Joker Strike that sent him skidding across the mud.

Atomic Skull aimed his cracked chestplate, unleashing radioactive fire.

Robin's voice chimed inside W. "Left turn—now!"

The Cyclone side bent wind currents, twisting the beam into the trees. The Joker side retaliated with a spinning roundhouse, purple flames igniting the villain's armor and forcing him down.

Ultra-Humanite lumbered forward, grabbing a tree trunk as a club.

Ryotaro's calm voice echoed. "Hard punch. Right side."

The Rider drove a fist into the trunk, shattering it into splinters before slamming a knee into Humanite's jaw. The beast roared in pain, staggering back.

Even Wotan faltered. His spells warped, green fire clashing against the Rider's emerald aura, dissipating into sparks.

And all the while, Joker just laughed. "Two brats in one suit, and suddenly they're gods! Ohhh, I love it."

The monster bellowed, vines writhing faster. Dozens lashed out at once, a storm of thorns.

W spun, green wind gathering into a vortex. The air howled, slicing through vines like blades. Purple flames erupted from their right side, igniting the swarm. The swamp lit up in a storm of emerald and violet, carving a path through the chaos.

"CYCLONE JOKER!" their voice boomed, both Robin and Ryotaro together.

The Rider leapt skyward, propelled by wind. Their body twisted, violet energy surging down their leg. The world seemed to slow as the beast opened its thorned maw.

Joker Maximum Drive!

"RIDER DOUBLE KICK!"

Two voices roared as one.

They dove, emerald wind spiraling, violet fire exploding. Their twin kicks slammed into the monster's core, detonating with blinding force.

The swamp erupted. The plant beast howled, its body splitting apart, vines shriveling into ash. The shockwave leveled trees, sending villains tumbling.

When the light cleared, only smoke and steaming roots remained. The monster was gone.

Silence.

Then—applause. Slow, mocking.

The Joker.

"Well done, kiddies. Bravo. But the curtain's closing, and we've got an exit cue."

A crackle of green magic enveloped the Injustice League. Wotan sneered as the spell took hold. "You've delayed the inevitable. But the Light endures."

One by one, they vanished into shadow. Only Joker lingered, his grin flashing under the moonlight.

He pointed at W, tilting his head. "We'll play again, Double. And when we do… I'll take half of you, just to see what happens."

With a laugh like broken glass, he too vanished. The Rider stood still, chest heaving. Slowly, the glow faded. The Double Driver released with a hiss, the Cyclone and Joker Memories ejecting. Robin wake up on one side, Ryotaro on the other, collapsing onto the mud.

Artemis rushed over, grabbing Robin's arm. "You idiot! You nearly killed yourself."

Robin grinned weakly. "Worth it. Totally worth it."

Aqualad steadied Ryotaro. "Your power… it turned the tide. Without you, we would not have survived."

Ryotaro exhaled, looking at the Joker Memory in his hand. "It wasn't just me. It was us." He glanced at Robin, who nodded back, a silent bond forged in battle.

Above them, the sky rippled with light. A sonic boom cracked the air as Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern descended, the Justice League finally arriving.

Batman's silhouette appeared on the ridge, cape fluttering. He took in the scene—the ash of the monster, the wounded but standing team. His eyes narrowed on Ryotaro and Robin.

"You two," he said. "Explain. Later."

But there was no mistaking the faint trace of approval in his voice. For now, the battle was won.

And in the swamp, under the humid night, the new hero had been born.

Kamen Rider W.
