Chapter 81 - Prime Minister

A few hours later...

Krishna burst into Missio's office with a frown. He rushed to his desk and slammed his hands onto it. Missio jolted up from his chair and tapped his headphones.

"What the heck?!" He shouted with anger.

"Bad news. The prime minister stopped our attempt to launch an investigation." Krishna stated with no hesitation.

"What? Why?"

"How the hell would I know? You ask him."

Missio took a deep breath, calming himself down. "No…No…like did he say anything? Any reason to shut it down?"

"Nah – that's why I'm here." Krishna replied.

Missio heaved a sigh.

'Why would he do this…? I don't wanna have to go to the council of ministers to just ask him…it's too much of a hassle…'

Missio contemplated for a few moments before standing up.

"I'll ask him."

"Thank you so much! You're a life savior." Krishna hugged him from behind.

"Get off, me." Missio pushed him away.

"Aw…" Krishna whimpered.

They exited his office and made their way to the elevator. As they descended the building, Missio made a call to Henry. After a few seconds, the call went through.

"Yes, Missio?"

"How are the interrogations going? Are you done?" Missio inquired.

"No…but I'm almost done. I've got a few left. Then, I've got to compile the evidence and put it somewhere safe. Why did you ask?"

"Nothing – I just wanted to inform you that I'm taking a visit to the prime minister's office."

"Why is that?" Henry asked calmly.

"He stopped our investigation on the other ministers and politicians."

"Oh…Okay. I'll leave you too it."

As Henry said those words, the call was also cut. Missio tucked the phone back as the elevator doors opened. He and Krishna exited and walked out of the building. Missio approached his bike and it unlocked instantly. He got on and turned it on. Krishna also hopped on and grinned widely. Missio put his helmet on and it locked onto his head.

He revved the engine and drove off without wasting another second.

"Hell yeah, baby!" Krishna screamed as the wind pushed his hair back.

After a few minutes of weaving through the cityscape, they finally arrived at the curved silver building that was the 'council of minister's'. Missio parked his bike and took off his helmet. Krishna hopped off and together they headed towards the entrance. They entered as the doors slid open for them. Many workers passed between them, busy with their own work. Footsteps echoed across the floor, papers flew and pens fell like rocks.

Missio ignored all of it and headed upstairs. After climbing the escalator, they were stopped by man wearing a white sit with golden accents and dark glasses.

"Identify yourselves."

Missio pointed at his insignia with a hint of annoyance. "Lieutenant general of the black ops – Missio Augustus."

Then, he pointed at Krishna. "He's, my associate."

The man nodded and let them pass. They walked through the long corridor as sunlight seeped from the large windows. Agents passed them like flies as they approached a door. A sign that was hung on the door read;

"Prime Minister."

Missio casually opened the door and told Krishna without turning around.

"You wait here."

Krishna strangely obeyed without any resistance. "Okay…"

Missio shrugged it off, entering and closing the door behind him. He narrowed his eyes and looked towards the desk. The minister was hiding behind his chair which was turned around. Missio sighed and called out with a slightly angry voice.

"Prime Minister – Kedith Octavian."

"Yes? Who is it?" The minister replied without turning around.

"The lieutenant general of the black ops division – Missio Augustus."

"Ah…" the minister swiveled around. "That's the first time…in your entire career that…you've called me by my name…Missio."

The minister was a dwarf in height – so much so that he could swing his legs on the chair. He hands barely reached atop the desk. He wore a white suit with golden accents while having fuzzy brown hair, emerald eyes and a smooth beard. He pulled himself towards his desk and clasped his hands atop it.

"So? What do want?" He asked, titling his head.

"I wanted to ask why you stopped our investigation?" Missio replied.

"Oh…" Kedith chuckled. "That…that I could not let happen."

"Why? This could help our investigation on his death."

"Listen, boy. I would've let you ask the minister a few questions but to investigate such a number of important figures without solid evidence is unacceptable."

"Then, what about the people the minister had bad ties with? Huh? Couldn't you have let us investigate them?" Missio asked raising his voice.

"For a lieutenant general, you're quite emotional." Kedith hopped off, approaching Missio.

"Bad ties – bad ties…its always those people who get under your skin so much you want to kill them, don't you? But that's not enough evidence, young man. They know the consequences of murder and wouldn't want to ruin their image."

"I guess you're right…" Missio murmured.

"Yes! Exactly! You're beginning to understand! I can let you ask them a few questions here and there but you'll have to find incriminating evidence to investigate them. The internal minister merely – just merely spoke of the thinning of our trade market. What's so suspicious about that?"

"…Fine."

"Good…now, you've got your answers. leave my office." Kedith waved him off.

Missio clicked his tongue and left. Meeting Krishna in the hallway, his friend asked in a teasing manner.

"So? How'd it go, mister?"

Missio didn't answer. In a fit of rage, his dented the wall beside him with a simple backhand. Krishna flinched as Missio walked away. Rushing over to him, Krishna looked at him from all angles.

"Hey, dude. Are you okay?"

"Not well. Now, shut up." Missio replied, clenching his fist.

"Are you sure?" Krishna asked again.

"I said I'm fine!" Missio shouted.

Krishna then, stopped asking, a glint of pity in his eyes. They descended the escalator, left the building and headed back to HQ – empty handed.
