Kairen stepped out of his cab, now standing in front of the beautifully painted building.
It carried an air of serenity and soft luxury nothing loud, just that quiet kind of elegance that felt like a new breath after everything Maison de la Croix had been choking him with.
"V.I.P," Kairen whispered to himself, the word slipping out like a half–bitter joke.
As the cab rolled away, he took a slow sniffle and remained rooted on the pavement. He wasn't ready to walk in just yet. His head was still loud too loud with everything he hadn't sorted out. He had called Haynes on his way here, laid down every unsettling detail of yesterday's ridiculous roller-coaster, and as expected, Haynes told him to accept it.

Kairen had nodded, mumbled an "okay," even though he wasn't convinced.
