Celeste sat on the bed, knees upward, dancing lightly under the heavy duvet, her phone tucked almost between her thighs.
Her eyes were glued to the screen like one blink would erase everything her pads were furiously clicking for. She didn't even breathe properly; it felt like the air around her had coiled itself into a tight watchfulness.
She was chatting with Sebastian apparently and he was replying back. Back. To. Back. Unlike him. It usually took him forever to reply to Celeste's texts, sometimes hours, sometimes the kind of silence that made her stomach simmer. But this morning… this morning he was different. Like someone had adjusted him overnight.
