"Back then, I thought that having a good reputation with the neighbors was very important, so I decided to turn a blind eye," Hilda confessed. "When you reported your father to the police, our family crumbled, and everyone in the neighborhood shunned us. I was devastated, and I don't know who to blame, because your father was already in jail."
"So I blame you as the whistleblower, even though I know you did the right thing…" Hilda muttered in regret. "I know your father needed to be stopped before he claimed more victims, but I wasn't brave enough to face the consequences of our destroyed reputation."
Hilda scoffed ironically, as she was mocking herself, "Now that I'm stuck in this nursing home, I realize that no reputation is worth my daughter's love. I shouldn't have pushed you away, and shouldn't have played favorites out of pettiness in my heart."
