Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

The next day…Though his parents had consoled him, Kudo was still shaken; he had been close to losing both his parents' lives and his own.

His father had told him that he would know why when he was ready, but he was angry, and most of all, he felt guilty over his powerlessness.

The year was about to end with New Year's celebrations around the corner, but Kudo found himself pursuing countless historical facts. He needed an outlet for his emotions and was searching for a way. Amongst the countless scrolls, he suddenly came across a navy-black scroll hidden under the heaps of old scrolls.

"Phoo." Blowing away the dust, he began to read. 'The founding of Konohagakure and the first hokage's greatest adversary.' "What a ridiculous title." He mumbled softly, but as he read more and cross-referenced the information with what he knew, more pieces fell into place. Some of the information in the scroll, like Madara Uchiha, perhaps the mightiest Uchiha to ever live, was not mentioned in any scrolls in the ninja academy library but in this bookstore, such vital information was hidden away. The scroll dated back events to the village's founding, Madara Uchiha's attack as well as their fight at the valley of the end, including both their ideologies.

The perspective was clearly that of someone who had witnessed or was close enough to the source. Kudo was astounded; he was subconsciously resonating with both their ideologies, but his vision was a path of power, overwhelming power that perhaps surpassed this mythical sage of six paths mentioned in the scroll but very little about him was mentioned. He was thought to be a mythical figure who had once saved the world from a ferocious beast, but there were no further details. Kudo spent the rest of the invested in the scroll but it eventually got late and he hurried home.

Sitting at the dinner table, "Dad, was the village behind it?" Kudo asked his gaze sharp, looking at his son's gaze. Murata felt disappointed in himself. He had failed to live up to his conviction, to protect his wife and son from the darkness of shinobi. "Yes." Hearing Murata's words, Ina's heart clenched as much as she didn't want to believe it was true, that within this village, akin to a utopia, such vileness existed. Hearing his father's answer, Kudo's will of fire for the village fizzled out; what would have perhaps been a raging inferno in its place, only hate began to fester.

"Son, I know you will hate the village, but one day you will understand. However, I did not want you to know because you cannot mask your hate or thirst for vengeance. If one day, son, you can exact your revenge, spare the masses and direct your wrath to those responsible. Shimura Danzo of the Shimura clan and advisor to the Hokage. He is a friend of the Hokage; therefore, son, you will have to fight this entire village to touch him. I want you in this moment to sheath your blade until you are ready. "Hearing his father's words, he forcefully nodded. One's age in the shinobi world was not a shield from darkness; if anything, it made you prey, weak prey to be hunted, brainwashed, or die in a ditch, being the tool you were groomed to be.

A day later, Kudo had been 6 years old for about 2 months; it was currently the 1st month of the new year. He stood in the backyard of his house facing 6 wooden poles with circles at the top. Taking a deep breath, 'Water style: Water bullet.' A jet of water slammed into the first pole, breaking it in half. The pole's width was about an adult man's forearm. The water splashed, creating a downpour. He made the tiger hand seal infusing more chakra, a water bullet twice the previous one sailed the air. "Boom!" The wooden pole was yanked out and broke mid-air with a shallow gash on the ground. "Mom's gonna kill me." "This is the moment of truth."

Taking a deep breath, he held on for several seconds, but a water bullet the size of the first one was released, except unlike being shaped like a water droplet as it sailed through the air, this one was arrow-shaped, and it flew a bit faster. "Boom!" Another wooden pole was broken, and the destruction was about as much as he had put in more chakra. Trying to recall the sensation, he repeatedly fired more water bullets. This time, instead of changing the drop-like shape of the water bullets, he focused on hardening them so that they pierced through instead of splashing. This would allow him to take out multiple opponents at once. He also focused on minimizing the spraying of water as the water bullet was airborne to have maximum devastating effect. When his face hurt from the puffing, he finally stopped, but his yard had gouges in the grass, broken trees but he was excited.

He was making progress as for the three basic jutsu, he hadn't started on those."It worked." Kudo said, 'Maintaining the shape while increasing hardness, the speed is faster and the bullets don't deform mid-air. I just must work on my chakra control.'There exists a vast chasm in chakra control between the leaf exercise and performing a jutsu. When practising the water bullet jutsu, the most problematic parts were running out of chakra; he had yet to reach genin chakra levels, where he could use the jutsu at least a dozen times. His best was 7 times consecutively. However, with this realization, perhaps he could use the justu even more.

Turning to look back, his mother was staring silently at him. Gulping, "I'm sorry, Mom." Kudo walked over, pinching his ear. Ina led him into the house. "Murata needs to find a training ground for you; our backyard is not a training ground! Look at what you have done to my lilies." Kudo silently took it all in. Though there existed a training ground in Konoha, you never knew if you were being spied on unless you were at least a jonin with heightened senses.

Over at the Blue Dragon headquarters, "Murata, you really cost us with this little stunt of yours." A man much older than Murata spoke, his greying hair tied in a clean bun. "We have lost favor with the Shimura clan. As for the hokage faction, I don't know, but you must start attending to your duties. You know that as a senior member, you hold rapport with some of our connections. Some people are starting to get antsy about not seeing you around. As for your security, we must beef it up. I can't have one of my men assassinated when I'm still growing my merchant group. Damn that Gato! Blocking my reach into the land of water." Kinosuke Yamachi cursed, looking at Murata. "I will begin at once," Murata said, bowing deeply.
