Chapter 71
THIRD PERSON POV
Jace moved like someone who didn't want to wake the person he couldn't stop watching. He showered quietly, shutting the bathroom door with the same care he never used on doors. The water ran hot but fast; he wasn't the type to linger. Still, he kept glancing toward the bedroom half-expecting Julian to sit up and ask where he was going like he did last night.
Julian had stayed awake longer than he should have. Eyes half-closed voice a whisper insisting Jace "actually go to sleep for once." He didn't collapse until he saw Jace drifting off. Only then did he let himself relax. Jace knew it felt, felt it, guilty about it. The kid deserved at least a morning where his biggest problem was bedhead.
Jace dried off, threw on a black T-shirt, and left the room without making a sound. Julian didn't move. Good. Because he needed the sleep.
Downstairs the house was awake in this weird chaotic way like a storm had two minutes to gather itself.
