The air around Amara changed…and then the lights did.She could now see it just up ahead.
A whisper of wind. Damp earth. The scent of trees… higher grounds…
Amara blinked as the tunnel's breath gave way to the cool sigh of open air. The heavy press of stone behind her loosened its grip, and a faint glow spilled across the ground ahead, painting trembling patterns through an arch of tangled roots.
They stepped out into the world outside… the Crimson Moon pack lands?
Or something that looked like it.
The ground underfoot was soft.Thick trees loomed on either side.The air was heavy with silence, broken only by the distant call of something winged….a low, echoing note that didn't sound quite like any bird she knew.
Her eyes darted upward. No open sky, though she could spy the moon somewhere,only a broken canopy of dark branches laced with thin streams of moonlight. The kind of place that made you unsure if it was dawn or dusk.
