Rafael didn't bother with elegance.
The moment Theodora nudged the plate closer, he scooped up a chunk of bread and cheese together and stuffed it into his mouth as if he had been starved for weeks.
Theodora gasped…dramatically, hands flying up.
"Raf! Breathe between bites, you barbarian!"
He tried to answer but it came out as a muffled noise, crumbs spraying.
"Oh goddess…STOP talking!" she yelped, laughing as she dodged the crumbs. "You are going to choke and I am NOT performing mouth to mouth! I would rather let you die."
Rafael thumped his chest with his fist, swallowed hard, then grinned like a triumphant wolf pup.
"Worth the risk."
Theodora rolled her eyes so hard it was a miracle they didn't get stuck.
"You are insufferable."
"And yet," Rafael said in a mock aristocratic tone, lifting another ridiculous bite towards his face, "you feed me like a royal guest."
"You are more like a starving stray dog," she countered.
