Ryan walked into the room and saw Mia carrying her clothes toward the guest room. He could tell she was upset. He hadn't meant to say those hurtful things—he'd just been angry and frustrated.
As he got closer to the guest room, he heard her quietly crying. It hurt him to know she was in pain.
He opened the door, sat on the bed next to her, and gently pulled her into his arms, stroking her hair.
"I'm so sorry, baby. I didn't mean what I said," he whispered.
Still crying, she replied, "I'll prove I'm not weak. I'm going to train hard."
"Okay," he said softly. "But I'm really sorry. I just want my baby back."
"Okay," she said.
They lay down together, holding each other, finding comfort in the quiet sound of each other's breathing.
