Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: My Anxiety

"That's impossible! We're the only entities that can exist in this plane," Envy yelled.

I already figured they were referring to me. I tried to retreat, and immediately I was awake back in my room. It was dark, but it was the morning of the next day. I got up and got ready for school.

I resumed school that day. I arrived earlier than my usual late coming.

I could sense the atmosphere change and the evil psyche energy radiating faintly from the students the moment I entered the classroom. Everybody had a cold look on their face. Some hearts were clouded with fear, others with disgust and hate.

"How dare you come back here after killing innocent people," one of my classmates complained subconsciously.

I turned to look at him. His life scale count was thirty percent good and seventy percent evil. He was looking angry, as if it was his relation that got killed. I knew he was just scared of me. It was Jake… he still had hatred towards me.

I couldn't care less. I could read minds; there's not one secret that could be kept from me. The school authority had instructed no student to speak on the case which happened in S.P.K. Academy.

I noticed some new faces in the class—a boy and a girl. They were seated close to each other. I tried to read their thoughts, but I couldn't read or get through.

I took my seat, still wondering why I couldn't get through.

"They were not here before, and they are psyches…" a voice from my psyche environment said.

Heh, I was still in the statue, trapped, unable to tell what had happened during the last thirty days. It seemed like a month had passed after the incident in which I wasn't aware of. My time in prison was not a pleasant one… I could tell even if I didn't witness it. A lot happened to me—my vessel proves this right, because it's now moving on its own and it could communicate correctly.

As usual, the psyche environment was empty, but it seemed a lot had changed. It now looked like a big conference hall with monitor screens for window glasses, but the voice I heard wasn't from the psyche environment. It was probably installed—like for a predicted future.

A boy walked towards me where I was sitting.

"Hey, I'm Quilt."

He looked hot-blooded and confident. He had short brown hair with thin green eyes. He was taller than me with a nice build. His life scale read forty percent good.

He continued, "I see you haven't been in school in ages?" He stretched his hand for a shake.

"I am Will. Will Evert." My vessel shook his hand as I introduced myself. "It's nice to meet you."

"You know, even when you try to act unnoticed, I can still feel your presence… then and even now."

I was a little bit surprised.

"My hobby is making friends with quiet and introverted people."

He was quite a talker. I just listened as he continued yapping.

"So why don't you be my friend?" he requested.

"I don't need friends," I said and rested my chin on my hands.

"Oh, I noticed you had a friend the last time you were around. I've been seeing her lately. She hasn't been in school since you left—makes me wonder if you guys went on a honeymoon. I mean, you're the only guy she wanted to talk to so badly. Oh, you thought Jake was the onl—"

I grabbed his shirt immediately and pulled him closer with a ferocious look.

"What did you just say?" I asked in a demeaning voice.

"Chill, man! I know you're not dating. I'm only teasing." He couldn't breathe.

"No, what you said earlier—where did you see her? When did you see her?" I asked anxiously while yanking his collar as I pulled hard.

"At… at your house. She was staring at your house so hard, as if she saw something frightening. I think she lives around the block in the same street as you and I."

I released my hands from his collar.

"You live in the same street as me? I have never seen you around. In fact, this is my first time seeing you…"

"What!" he screamed and made a funny reaction. "I'm literally one of the most popular persons in this class. You've spoken with me so many times, yet you keep forgetting me every time."

"Then why did you introduce yourself at first?" I asked, confused.

"That's because you told me to. Every time."

"Forget about that. Are you sure she came around?"

"Yeah, I saw her with my own eyes." Quilt was being honest.

"Then in that case, she might come again, and when she does—"

"I'm pretty sure she will," Quilt interrupted.

"What makes you so sure?" I became interested.

"I don't know. My faith probably," he said with a doubtless attitude. His mind was difficult to read.

"What about those guys?" I asked while pointing at them. The new boy noticed me pointing at them. They were sitting at the opposite end of the row.

"Well, those guys have been here since first year, like you," he said with a reassuring smile.

They seemed different. I thought, and I tried looking around for other unfamiliar faces.

"What about that guy?" I said while pointing to a guy who was staring directly at me. He had been staring at me since I entered the class, even during lectures.

"Oh, him? He's a transfer student. He transferred in a few days after your absence. He is actually rumoured to be the oldest in this class…" Quilt drew closer and whispered to me. "He's said to be nineteen."

"He's nineteen?" I was amazed—that's quite a large age difference from the average age in class, which is fifteen.

"Exactly!" Quilt responded with a thumbs up. "He's actually pretty smart, but he chose to be in this grade and particularly this arm. That sounds pretty suspicious, isn't it?"

"I'm more concerned about those two—mostly the female one. She's giving me a nasty feeling."

"Oh, you mean Lucy? She's the prettiest girl in this prefecture—probably in the whole country. She's an epitome of beauty, one above all females. She's an enemy to all females and a goddess to all males. It's as if she is an angel bestowed upon us by God to gaze and adorn. That's why all males flock around her. She's perfect." He sighed out of relief.

I couldn't help but give a disgusted look towards Quilt.

"Everyone, please settle down. The next class is about to begin," the assistant class rep instructed.
