'Obsession is very cunning. He took your prioritized goal at that moment and used it against you. Now there's nothing you can do to harm him,' Greed explained.
'What do you mean I can't do anything? I just punched this bag in the face not quite long ago,' Wrath responded.
'You indeed punched me… only because I let you. It was an insurance to prove that your goal was to kill me, and it worked!' Obsession laughed out loud, evilly.
'Now I'm impervious to your attack — but not mine. My abilities work in both ways, negative and positive. Your obsession with hate has made it impossible for you to attack me. At the same time, I can amplify your ambition to get what you want… but that'll affect my job right now,' Obsession explained.
Thud! A large melted hole formed on the floor from Wrath's punch.
'How low can I get for this plan which we are not sure about, huh? Greed!'
'This lackey—' Wrath pointed at Obsession—'is stronger than me right now?' Wrath lamented. He actually hated losing.
'Let's go, we can still get her tomorrow,' Gluttony responded. He took control and teleported the team back to my room.
'Why are we back here?!' Wrath yelled.
'This body is at its limit; it needs to rest. Since we haven't gained total access to the Neutco, it will continue to be like a human body, which has limitations. It's already past midnight — the vessel needs rest,' Greed explained.
'The human world is feeble and weak, and so are the creatures in it. We need to get out of this filth. I'm sick of this place,' Wrath murmured and walked to his seat.
'I have things to take care of in the real world,' Envy said and disappeared.
'Same with me. I need some cuisine,' Gluttony vanished into thin air.
'Hmph. I don't need rest like those fools, but I need to receive my showers of worship from my stinky followers.' Pride warped into the air.
It was just Greed and Wrath left in the psyche environment. I was observing from inside my statue.
'How long do we need for this to play out?' Wrath asked Greed in a low tone. His expression showed tiredness.
'Not long now. Everything is going as expected. All we need is patience. You're not very good at that, so I adjusted the plans in a manner that your irrational decisions don't affect it.'
Tch! Wrath clicked his tongue. 'Whatever. I'm off.' He took his exit.
After some while, Greed walked to where I was trapped and touched the statue.
'Each of them has been touching my statue occasionally. I wonder why?'
'Oh! We do that to store experience so that it won't be lost when we cultivate you,' Greed answered to my consciousness.
'Impossible! How is he able to hear and answer me?' I questioned myself.
'Impossible? Wow, how much have you grown?' he asked with a beaming smile.
'I've been hearing your thoughts ever since I became your psyche,' he replied. 'By the way, weren't you surprised when Wrath punched Obsession? In all my years, I have never seen that happen as a psyche. I have to take note of Wrath. Him being your psyche in this era has a lot of attributes. I wonder what will become of me.' He chuckled with a devious smile. 'Bye for now… I will be back by morning.' Greed warped into space.
After some minutes, I still tried to process what had just happened.
'The others can't even hear me when I try to speak to them. Is it a new development, or is he special?
It's not Wrath who I need to take note of… it's you. What exactly are you, Greed?'
It was the next day, and my body had regained its strength, and all my emotions had started appearing one after the other. Greed was the first to appear. I was still taken aback by Greed — I was certain that no one could hear my thoughts, but Greed… he's scary. I wonder what he has in his arsenal when he unlocks his abilities.
Just then, as I was thinking about Greed, he looked in my direction and smiled.
'He must have heard that,' I said to myself.
All of them had already appeared. It occurred to me that they go somewhere other than this world. I overheard Envy talking to Gluttony.
'It's not looking great,' she said. I pondered on with so many thoughts. Greed just kept smiling and staring at me.
I didn't have enough leads.
'The psyche environment has changed its form again. It's like we have got a little accustomed to this body. It's just a matter of time until we have perfect control over this. Isn't that right, Envy?'
'What's not looking great for you, huh, Envy?' Greed questioned.
It seemed he heard what I said. 'I should just keep quiet,' I said to myself.
'Anyways, time is crucial. We have to perfect our defence and avoid those evil-doers — the Virtues — from interfering,' Wrath said with a sour face.
'Let us begin the meeting,' he proposed.
They all assembled around a round, fancy table.
The psyche environment had upgraded one more time to a luxurious conference office. The more familiar they got with the host, the better for them.
'We have to recruit Lust by the end of the day. Yesterday's flop will not be tolerated today,' Envy complained.
They probably didn't know it had been six days in the human world, I said to myself.
'We have to recruit Lust very quickly! My faction is not doing great in the psyche world,' Envy said.
'Leave Lust to me,' Greed ordered.
'I know how to bring her in, and I don't need you guys to interfere,' he added. He adjusted his glasses and folded his arms.
'What the fuck is wrong with you?' Envy yelled at Greed and pointed at the desk with her index finger. 'Didn't you just hear me?' She was pissed.
'I said my faction is in turmoil in the real world. Don't bring your selfishness here. I'll be the one to bring her in. I need to,' she added. Sweat rolled down her temples.
'Let Greed do it. He's the most knowledgeable in this world, after all.'
'Be quiet, you fat pig! What do you know?!' she revolted at Gluttony, who spoke with his mouth full of cake.
'That's enough, you imbeciles. Let's carry out the task we were given. Greed is the one in charge of this operation in the first place,' Wrath yelled.
There was a brief silence for a few seconds.
