Elena– who had secretly followed behind Ruby and was currently standing outside the private word, with her ear pinned against the door, jerked. But she didn't speak or interrupt when she heard Augustine's commanding voice.
Despite the ongoing chaos and her rising blood pressure, Donna– now panting and clutching her chest demanded in a trembling voice.
"Are you pregnant, Ruby? Tell me now!"
Ruby closed her eyes briefly and inhaled deeply, summoning all her courage. Then she opened them, her shimmering gaze filled with a mixture of guilt and determination.
"Yes."
Donna let out an ear-splitting and heartbreaking shriek, slamming her palm to her chest as her heart monitor spiked.
"Donna!" Augustine abandoned Ruby and rushed to his wife's side.
"I'm sorry." Ruby bit down on her lower lip, fury and pain igniting in her heart.
"Get out!" Donna sobbed, clutching her chest and trembling violently. "GET OUT!"
