In the private ward, Donna was sitting up on the bed, her head resting on the pillow and her eyes closed.
But the moment the door was pushed open, her head snapped sideways and her eyes flashed with a sharp and burning glare at Ruby.
Ruby managed a forced smile as she stepped forward.
"Aunt Donna, I'm ..."
Donna didn't let her complete her statement as she rudely interjected.
"So....you finally remembered that I exist." She said, her voice trembling with exhaustion and anger. "You finally decided to come see me?"
Ruby halted a few inches from Donna's bedside, her gaze lowered. "I'm sorry for avoiding you, aunty. It wasn't intentional. I just needed some time and space to heal."
"Don't you dare lie to me Ruby," Donna snapped fiercely at her. "You and I know that you didn't come here because you care about me or my health. You've only come here because you feel guilty."
