"Elena, right?" Jeremiah asked casually as the elevator descended
"Yes, sir," Elena answered quietly, feeling slightly uncomfortable around Ruby's uncle.
"Ruby has told me a lot about you in our last conversation." Jeremiah hummed under his breath, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. "You are a good friend. Don't ever change." He smiled before returning his tender gays to Ruby.
Something about the way he smiled made Elena's fingers tense around the bag.
It didn't feel like a good sign, and Elena knew to always trust her instinct, especially when he came to dubious people.
Nevertheless, she kept her thoughts to herself and followed quietly behind Ruby and her uncle as they stepped out of the elevator.
Outside the hospital building, Jeremiah was in the process of suggesting that they wait under a nearby tree even though he already knew Ruby had a car.
"There's no need for that Uncle. We can wait by my car." Ruby suggested pointing at her sleek car ahead.
