As the two observed the village below Luna felt her stomach drop, how was she to wipe out a population of that size? She already struggled to deal with just a singular orc let alone deal with that many! How could she ever manage to achieve her goal? Would she be doomed to let her clan remain unavenged?
Just as her mind was beginning to spiral Violet bumped into her side and her voice came through the bond to her, it held a hint of worry but was underlined by a calm resolve. "Well looks like we need to get stronger. Will take us a while to be able to deal with a group that big unless we level up quite a bit!"
Luna probabally shouldn't have been surprised that Violet would view it as such but she still was. Chuckling Luna shook her head and replied. "Yeah, I guess we do need a bit of a power boost. Need to be able to take on at least 3 at the same time each if we want to have any decent chance of taking them down."
"Yup, and we do have just the hunting ground right behind us, it's close enough that we can keep an eye on the orcs but they don't seem to want to travel up the cliff to hunt here so we should be safe from discovery." Luna could only agree with violets words and felt the beginnings of a smile touch her cheeks.
"Well that shall we get to hunting my dear companion?" Luna asked of Violet and recived a firm affirmation through their bond which caused the smile to fully form on her face. 'Yeah with Violet with me, we can do this! It might not be as fast as I'd like but it is still achievable.' She told herself.
And like that the two decided to venture into the forest atop the cliff they were on. They didn't know exactly how large a space they had to work with or what they could find here but as the mana was still considerably denser here than back near their cave they could be sure to encounter plenty of foes to fight. And fights they did find.
The opted to not use Violets voids to hide and instead just realised on their natural stealth to quickly make their way through the trees looking for any signs of beats and minsters to fight. And it didn't take them too long to find their first foe.
Crouching over the freshly killed corpse of a rabbit of some kind a large wolf was slowly eating its fill whilst keeping half an eye out on its surroundings. Saddly for the beast that would not surfice to be able to spot the two beings that stalked it. The first it noticed of them was when it suddenly felt a weight land on its back and sharp claws dug into its sides. It let out a cry of alarm and managed to shake off its unwelcome passenger and turned around to bite out towards its foe. Only to bite into nothing as the creature that had attacked it was now a number of meters away from it, it was then that the wolf spotted a second creature, this one was walking in two legs and holding a long blue stick charging towards it.
Backing off the wolf let out a howl of warning which was swiftly put to a stop when a bolt of blackness struck it in its side making it stagger and causing it to be unable to dodge the rapid thrust of the two legged creature.

"Hu that wasn't very giant for a giant wolf? It was nearly bigger than a normal wolf." Luna mutter to herself after the creature was dead, she was quite relaxed after the quick kill but that turned to caution as she felt Violets concern. "What is it Violet?" She asked her companion.
"That howl. It wasn't a regular battle cry, it felt more like it was calling for something. I don't like it stay alert." Saying so Violet kept scanning her surroundings and the duo stuck close to each other, and in less than a minute they became glad that they did.
Slowly walking out of the forest in front of them walked a truly Giant wolf, this one stood at nearly 5ft to its shoulders and double that in length from tail to tip. But Violet was more concerned with the numerous other pairs of eyes she could see observing them from the shadows that she could just make out. "Careful Luna I think they just sent this one in to test us out their are alot more here."
Luna had also spotted the other wolfs spreading out around them, all of a similar size as to the one that was now growling at them out in the open. She tightened the grip of her sword and activated her body of the arctic warrior and reinforced certain parts of her ice coating with her manipulation skill. The ice on her chest, back and for arms thickened slightly and began to let off a fog as the moisture in the air around them froze.
Violet meanwhile decided to put on a show of strength from the start and began to whip up a void Lance to try take it out quickly.
AWWOOOOO!
The wolf let out a soul shaking howl that reverberated inside of both girls heads long after it stopped the howl. Then once it was finished it bounded forward heading straight at Violet.
She first activated her dragon aura to try and dispel any lingering effects of the howl and similarly stun it, she did feel the reverberations stop echoing in her mind allowing her to think clearer but it seems to have very little effect on the wolf as it continued to charge her. So she instead launched her lance towards the charging wolf.
KABOOM.
It shot forward at incredible speeds but the wolf managed to tilt its body to the side ever so slightly in an attempt to avoid the blow, saddly for it however it was still struck. A large chunk of flesh was ripped out of its side and above its hind leg causing that leg to instantly fall limp and it stumbled into a fall landing before Violet. Neither she nor Luna waisted any time.
CRUNCH, STAB
Violet lashed her neck out and bit down on its neck whilst Luna stabbed her spear forward and impaled its chest swiftly putting an end to the giant wolf.
The forest seemed to still for a moment after their quick and effective victory. But before they were given a chance to bask in it a howl broke out, swiftly followed by another and another till soon it sounded like a cacophony of howls surrounded them before suddenly falling silent.
Then every wolf suddenly charged the pair at once. The two companions burst into action themselves, Violet unleashed her aura once more to give her and Luna a quick burst of strength and then she unleashed a barrage of void bolts, whilst not too powerful she was able to summon and fire them rapidly and with solid aim. Luna meanwhile tried out a new idea she had been thinking of and using her arctic ice manipulation formed a hollow arrow point on the end of her spear then thrust forward and sent to ice projectile flying forwards at one of the charging wolves, then she repeated as many times as possible.
BBOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM
the cacophony of holes was replaced by the ringing of void explosions dealing minimal damage but staggering several of the wolves whilst other still helped in pain as they were attacked by ice arrows striking their face and sides.
Violet then launched herself forward with a void step and appeared just to the side of one wolf and with her void infused claws swiped at its throat managing to tear out a good chunk of flesh, a tail whip was swiftly followed as she tried to batter away another wolf leaping at her back. A satisfying thud was heard from that as she managed to knock it into yet another wolf nearby.
Luna also dashed forwards unleashing a multi strike on top of an ice strike, her rapid thrusts of the spear struck multiple wolves and left them with a coating of ice hindering their movements wherever they were struck. Then she flitted back relating on her footwork to avoid a swipe of a wolves claws aimed at her side, she retaliated with the butt of her spear and cracked its jaw closed with a satisfying crunch clearly breaking something if the whimper it released after the blow was anything to go by.
A melody of violence and slaughter was unleashed over the second of the forest as our two companions danced around the numerous wolves aiming for their lives.
They did not escape unscathed however, Violet was hit first when one wolf managed to counter her tail whip by raking her claws along the tail, tearing off a number of scales and eliciting a yell of pain from her. Luna however arrived then to impale the wolf through the back of its head in repayment for that blow. Saddly this then left her open to attack and she was unable to fully block a bite and had to take it on her left arm, the beats teeth struggling to make it through her protections but still dealing significant damage. A void spear to the side freed Luna and the two resumed their battle.
The fight could have lasted for mean moments or hours neither of our girls could tell as they got lost in the ruthenium of the battle, becoming fully engrossed in the art of slaughter as they slowly made their was through the wolf pack. However they did eventually come out of top.
The last wolf stood defiantly staring down Luna who was sporting a number of small and some larger wounds and was covered in gore, most of it not her own thankfully. They both charged at each other only for the wolf to revive a void bolt to the face causing it to stumble right into lunas spear which entered through its eye and exited out the back of its head.
