Chapter 16
Measuring Power
After the banquet ended, the table and the sitting room were cleaned, and both Einver and the old man Moon Fai sat facing each other in silence…
A few minutes passed without either of them speaking, and a comfortable stillness filled the place.
Einver wanted to speak and ask about certain things, like the levels of power, what the old man Moon Fai knew, and even what his own level was. But he did not.
He did not want to reveal this ignorant side of himself.
Although Moon Fai had been kind enough to welcome him into his home and tell him many things, in the end…
Einver still knew nothing about the people of this world, their laws, or what they thought about someone who had come from another world.
Perhaps there were legends about such a thing.
Perhaps there were demonic tales about it.
And if Einver kept asking questions without restraint, openly showing that he knew nothing about this world,
he would plant suspicion in people's hearts.
For that reason, he chose not to.
He simply waited quietly for the old man to ask him first.
And if Moon Fai asked, even if Einver revealed that he did not know how to do what the old man wanted him to do,
that would be natural.
Being asked and answering with "I don't know" was far better than asking first and showing ignorance in this world.
And this applied to martial arts, world-traveling, and so on.
This much Einver was certain of.
He was sure that Moon Fai would eventually ask.
After all, his daughter was said to be the strongest in the village — he himself had said so —
and Einver had defeated the strongest without any real effort or fatigue.
That alone made it obvious that Moon Fai would be curious about Einver's strength.
As the silence deepened further,
Moon Fai was the one to break it, speaking in a cold tone:
"What is your level of strength, Einver?
Can you tell me?
You said you trained only with your father, and yet… you astonished us in your fight earlier.
So are you in the Earth Realm, or the Sky Realm?"
Einver noticed the look in the village chief's eyes — a gaze filled with curiosity and genuine interest.
But he himself… didn't even know how strength was measured in this world. And for that reason, he was glad to be asked this question.
He answered calmly:
"To tell you the truth… even I don't know my level of strength.
As I said before… I don't know anything about the levels of power, or how they're drawn out or measured.
All my father ever did was train me in the art of the sword…
And I thank you, Moon Fai, for teaching me about this world and its strength.
If you wish to know my level, all you need to do is teach me how to measure it…
or measure it yourself, because I don't know how to do it."
A faint look of puzzlement appeared on Moon Fai's face, before he spoke in a firm voice:
"Let me tell you something, my young friend… never allow anyone else to measure your strength directly.
Because whoever does so… will uncover all your secrets, not just your level of power."
The old man's tone was stern, unyielding, as though he wanted to carve this lesson into Einver's mind forever.
"But… there is a way to measure your strength yourself, and then reveal it to someone else if you wish.
For example, in martial arts schools, when a teacher wishes to measure a student's level,
he teaches the student how to measure it himself, and then to display it outwardly.
Each realm and division has a distinct, recognizable aura.
When you release your aura, anyone can see it and gauge it, and know which realm you belong to."
Einver nodded, having understood, listening intently, his mind open to every word.
"Is there a certain color for each realm and division? Or is it understood only from the strength of the aura?"
The old man smiled slightly — as if he had expected that question:
"There is no color.
But people can understand your level simply from your aura itself.
For example, if someone is in the Earth Realm — High Division, he knows what his aura looks like and feels like.
So when he sees another person release the same kind of aura, he immediately knows they are in the same level.
In simple words:
Once a fighter surpasses a certain realm, he can recognize anyone else in that realm the moment he sees their aura."
Einver understood the meaning… but asked another question, wanting the fine details:
"…And if someone is in the Earth Realm — High Division, while his opponent is in the Sky Realm — Initial Division…
how would he know the opponent is in the Sky Realm if he hasn't ascended there himself yet?"
The old man smiled again:
"It is not about the division… but about the very nature of the aura.
If the opponent is in the Sky Realm, the person will realize it the moment that aura is revealed.
It's true he may not know the exact division…
but at least he will know it belongs to a different realm.
There are also special tools that can help determine the level more precisely."
He paused for a moment, then said:
"And now…
Sit cross-legged, clear your mind, and empty your body of all thoughts."
Einver followed the old man's words without hesitation.
Moon Fai's voice grew softer:
"When your mind is clear… enter into your inner consciousness…
Then — in complete stillness — open your eyes… and see within."
Einver closed his eyes and sank deep into himself…
Little by little he felt his awareness dive deeper than thought…
Until he opened his eyes — inside his subconscious — and was stunned by what he saw:
A vast space as wide as the world itself…
No ground… no sky.
Nothing… but whiteness.
An endless white stretching without limit.
He turned within, searching for anything…
But there was nothing but white.
Then he heard the old man's voice echo gently inside him:
"And now… focus calmly on what you see…
Then open your eyes in the outside world…
And let your energy emerge."
Einver sat within his inner consciousness, legs crossed,
then opened his eyes in reality…
And suddenly — a pure, clear aura began to flow from his body.
It was faint… yet perfectly visible.
Moon Fai was shocked, stepping back in disbelief as he stared at the aura:
"Th… this is impossible…
Your strength equals that of someone in the Earth Realm — Initial Division…
So how are you…"
Thoughts battered the old man's mind harshly:
He isn't in any realm… how could this be?
It's true my daughter didn't use her full strength, and she didn't activate her advantage…
And it's also true that experience was on his side…
But at the very least I expected him to be in the Earth Realm — Initial Division…
And yet…
At that moment, Einver calmed his aura, and it slowly faded away.
The old man looked at him slowly, speaking in a sad, shaken voice:
"You… you're just a human…
You haven't entered the martial realms at all."
Surprise appeared on Einver's face:
"What are you saying?
You saw my skill in deflecting your daughter's arrows — and she's in the Earth Realm — High Division.
Can an ordinary human do that? Tell me!"
Although Einver's words were absolutely true,
the aura did not lie.
Moon Fai answered in a quiet tone:
"No one in our world could do that…
But… I don't know how…
The aura you revealed just now means only one thing:
its owner has not yet begun the path of martial cultivation.
I thought you were at least in the Earth Realm — Initial Division,
but…
you…
are just a human."
Silence fell.
Einver began to think:
Is it possible that in this world… I am still at the stage of 'ordinary human'?
Perhaps because my training in my old world surpassed human limits…
But since I was reborn here, maybe I'm considered as if I were born only a few days ago.
Thus… my strength now = the strength of an ordinary human.
But… if I begin training here, I could ascend to the Earth Realm — Initial Division… then rise step by step to the Realm of Kings.
I had expected something like this, truly… for to enter realms such as Earth or Sky, there must be a way to break through and ascend — and I haven't done any of that yet.
He broke the silence with a cold tone:
"Tell me… what was that I saw when I entered my inner consciousness?"
Moon Fai answered:
"Every human is born with a spiritual sea of their own — or an 'inner world.' It has many names.
This sea develops or deteriorates… depending on its owner.
Those who choose to remain ordinary humans, or whose circumstances prevent them,
their spiritual sea remains empty… white.
But when one enters the path of martial cultivation and develops himself,
his spiritual sea begins to take shape.
Each person's form is unique.
For some, their sea becomes a great river…
For others, a piece of land floating in space…
For others still, a vast or small room.
The shape varies according to one's will.
And when you ascend to the Earth Realm — Initial Division,
your spiritual sea begins to truly form.
At that point you can place objects within your spiritual sea.
And as your strength grows… you can even place living beings within it —
but only if they are not stronger than you, otherwise… your spiritual sea will be destroyed completely.
For this reason as well… you must never tell anyone the form of your spiritual sea.
It is said that some types are sacred, and others are forbidden.
If someone found out, you might be kidnapped… or sold.
In any case… that information is uncertain, but you must always be cautious.
And this… is also why I did not measure your strength myself.
Because doing so would require me to enter your spiritual sea.
Do you understand now?"
"…Yes."
After that, the two of them continued to speak quietly about everything.
Einver asked dozens of questions,
and the old man answered them all — without any boredom or irritation.
