"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 248: Come to My Room Tonight, Maid Café
Morning sunlight spilled through the kitchen window as Shuo finished breakfast, only to be ambushed by Nia Honjou, who was already bouncing with excitement.
"Akihabara! Akihabara!" she chanted, practically vibrating as they walked side by side. Her eyes sparkled with visions of endless shopping bags and rare finds.
Shuo just sighed. He knew Nia's quirks far too well to bother complaining.
Akihabara was new territory for him, but the place radiated pure otaku energy—anime posters plastered on every wall, game ads flashing from every screen, and crowds of fans hauling suitcases stuffed with loot. It was chaotic, dazzling, and a little overwhelming.
"Hooray! The great Akihabara paradise! Nia's home!" she shouted, arms raised in triumph.
Honestly, if he didn't have this gray-haired disaster of a shut-in girl glued to his side, Shuo might have actually enjoyed the trip. The other girls had tried to help Nia pick out cute outfits for the occasion, but the stubborn otaku refused to wear anything but her signature look: faded jeans, a shapeless down jacket, a gray scarf pulled up over her mouth, and those iconic red-framed glasses. She looked more like a country bumpkin than a magical spirit—no wonder Yoshinon called her "old auntie."
"Let's get started, young man!" Nia declared, voice brimming with anticipation.
Shuo just shrugged. "Whatever makes you happy. Just… try not to go overboard. We're not short on cash, but there's no need to waste it."
"Got it, got it…" she replied, but her actions spoke louder than words. The moment they crossed into Akihabara proper, Nia transformed into a one-woman shopping tornado. Games, manga, novels, and souvenirs piled up in a frenzy—if Shuo didn't have his system's storage space, they'd need a moving truck.
After lunch, they wandered the district, arms weighed down by bags. Then Nia spotted a maid café and all but dragged Shuo inside.
"Welcome home, Master!" chimed a chorus of cheerful voices as they entered. The air was sweet with nostalgia and the scent of fresh coffee.
Shuo ordered an iced Americano and found a seat, soaking in the novelty. It was only his second time in a maid café, but the charm hadn't worn off.
Nia, meanwhile, was in full fangirl mode—snapping photos of every maid she could find, giggling and posing for selfies as if she'd never seen a frilly uniform before. Luckily, the staff seemed unfazed, recognizing her as a harmless otaku girl and letting her antics slide. Otherwise, her hands-on enthusiasm might've landed her in trouble.
As Nia worked her way through every maid in the café, Shuo found himself chatting with a twin-tailed maid named Nana-chan.
"Master, you're amazing! What else can you do?" she asked, eyes wide with curiosity.
Shuo grinned. "Oh, I've got all kinds of skills—flying planes, steering warships, driving tanks… But my favorite thing to pilot is Nana-chan's twin tails!"
She burst out laughing. "Master, you're terrible! Always teasing me!"
Nia glanced over and saw Shuo and Nana-chan laughing together. Jealousy flared in her eyes.
"Young man, you're supposed to be on a date with me, but you're flirting with other girls! I'm going to get jealous, you know!"
"Jealous? You?" Shuo shot her a skeptical look, taking in her baggy clothes and otaku aura. "You do realize this is a date, right? You're gorgeous, but you refuse to dress up. And you left me alone while you went on your shopping rampage. Honestly, having a girlfriend like you is kind of embarrassing."
"Em… embarrassing?" The words hit Nia like a sledgehammer, leaving her stunned and silent.
Her lower lip trembled. "That's… That's so cruel…"
Before she could protest further, the café's main screen flickered to life, broadcasting a live concert. The star performer was unmistakable: Miku Izayoi, silver-purple hair shining under the stage lights.
The café erupted in cheers, voices rising in awe and excitement.
"Oh my god, it's Miku-sama!"
"Our goddess! I never thought I'd hear her sing here!"
"I have to go to her concert in person!"
Nia shuddered at the commotion, shooting a glare at Miku's image on the screen. "Damn Miku… Can't believe I'm seeing her even here."
Her resentment was understandable. With the other girls often out, Nia was always home when Miku came to visit Shuo—making her Miku's favorite target.
"Tsk, she's even performing in Astral Dress. That's bold," Shuo murmured, shaking his head with a wry smile. "How does she have time for all this? A date yesterday, a concert today…"
Eventually, Shuo and Nia left the café, arms laden with loot. Before heading out, Shuo pressed a wad of cash into Nana-chan's hands.
"For all the fun and the 'Master' treatment, you deserve a good tip," he said with a smile. "No worries—we're not short on cash."
The other maids watched in shock and envy as the two left.
On the way home, Nia hugged her new handheld game console, sneaking glances at Shuo.
"Hehe, young man, wasn't today's date fun?"
Shuo snorted. "Fun? You ditched me to go shopping, didn't bother dressing up, and left me to fend for myself. There's no way I'm doing this again! I'd rather jump off a building than go on another date with you!"
He made sure to look as serious as possible, shooting Nia a look of pure disdain.
Nia replayed the day in her mind, embarrassment creeping in. Seeing Shuo's stubborn refusal, she panicked and blurted out, "No, wait! I was wrong! Tonight, I'll put on my Astral Dress, transform into your favorite nun, and come to your room for some… special service. How about that?"
Shuo's expression shifted instantly—a sly grin spreading across his face. "Deal! It's settled. If you don't show up, you'll regret it…"
Nia gulped, realizing she'd just been thoroughly outmaneuvered.
