"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 247: Crossdressing Boss, Omen of Great Misfortune
The second date belonged to Miku Izayoi.
Given her idol status, Shuo had fully intended to set up a perception barrier—just a little spell to keep the crowds at bay. But Miku was having none of it.
"Darling, are you really going to reject my wish?" she whimpered, her voice trembling theatrically. "That's so cruel… If that's how it is, I'll just have to give up… sniffle…"
Shuo's eye twitched. He knew she was acting, but even so, seeing her put on such a pitiful display was hard to watch. He let out a long sigh, as if resigning himself to fate.
"Fine. If this is what you want, Miku, I'll go along with it."
Miku's surprise lasted only a split second before delight took over. In a flash, she whipped out a set of women's clothes from seemingly nowhere.
Moments later, Shuo found himself transformed. With his sharp features and silver-white hair cascading to his shoulders, he looked so convincingly feminine that even Miku, if she hadn't known better, would've assumed he was just another pretty girl.
Cut to the two of them strutting down the main street—Miku glowing with pride, Shuo in full crossdress, arm-in-arm for maximum effect. Heads turned. Whispers followed.
"Wait, isn't that Miku Izayoi?!"
"Who's the girl with her? She's as gorgeous as Miku-sama herself!"
Shuo wanted to melt into the pavement. This was public humiliation on a scale he'd never imagined.
He felt the weight of every stare, every phone camera raised in curiosity. "Uh, Miku, do we really have to be this… obvious? This is way too embarrassing."
Miku just smiled, all innocence and mischief. "What's the problem, darling? We're both girls right now, aren't we? Besides, this kind of date is essential—don't you think?"
With a look like that, Shuo could only surrender.
They made the rounds like any couple—window shopping, lunch, a little retail therapy. But when Miku dragged him to a women's clothing boutique, a chill ran down his spine.
"Miku… you're not seriously thinking—"
"Of course I am. Just as darling guessed~" Her lips curled into a sly smile, eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Sure enough, she hauled him inside, handing him outfit after outfit to try on. If she liked it, he wore it. No exceptions.
When she produced a yellow sundress and held it up, Shuo froze. Miku's gaze was almost predatory.
"This one's adorable! But it looks tricky to put on by yourself… Let me help you, darling~"
Her tone shifted, a wicked glint in her eye. Before Shuo could protest, she all but tackled him into the dressing room and locked the door behind them.
He barely had time to register what was happening before he felt a sudden draft—his clothes had vanished.
"Ara, darling, let me take care of you~"
"Wait—Miku! Hold on—!"
Resistance was futile. In the end, Shuo found himself not only wearing the dress, but also immortalized in a flurry of Miku's photos. His soul wept.
It didn't stop there. Miku's terrifying spending power was on full display—she bought every single outfit Shuo had tried on, then swept up anything else that caught her eye. The car was packed to bursting.
Shuo could only stare, defeated. This was inhuman.
Outside her gilded mansion, Miku turned to him, eyes shining.
"I had such a wonderful time today. How about you, darling?"
Shuo managed a sheepish smile. "Aside from the… crossdressing, I actually had fun."
"Sou ka~ Then can we do this again sometime?"
He didn't hesitate. "Of course. As long as I've got the time, I'll go on dates with you, Miku."
Her eyes sparkled even brighter, her smile full of hope—already dreaming of their next outing.
—
The third day, Shuo arrived at a quiet three-way intersection and slowed to a stop in front of a familiar shrine.
There, crouched on the ground, was Yoshino—green dress, leafy hat, the picture of shy cuteness.
Hearing footsteps, she popped up and ran to him. "Shuo-oniichan, you're here!"
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Yoshino. And you too, Yoshinon." He ruffled her hair gently.
Yoshino's cheeks turned rosy pink, her eyes dropping shyly. "Um… Oniichan, do you remember this shrine?"
"Of course I do. This is where I first met you—and Yoshinon."
The memory played in his mind: a rain-soaked shrine, a little girl hopping from stone to stone, laughter echoing in the quiet.
His reverie was broken by a familiar, cheeky voice. Yoshinon, the rabbit puppet, waved its stubby arms. "Yo! Yoshino and I spent ages planning this date, you know. The final decision…"
Yoshino nodded, taking over. "Rather than anywhere else, I want to have our date here. Is that okay?"
"Of course it is."
For Yoshino, timid and sweet, this was already a big step. Shuo was more than happy to spend the day with her—after all, protecting precious little sisters was everyone's duty.
They played simple games—rock-paper-scissors on the shrine steps, hide-and-seek among the trees. Yoshino's laughter was pure, her smile contagious. Shuo found himself relaxing, the world's worries melting away.
Hand in hand, he asked, "So, what would you like to do next, Yoshino?"
Before she could answer, Yoshinon piped up, "Hey, Shuo-kun, Yoshino's interested in that!"
He followed the puppet's pointing paw to a rope strung with dozens of white paper strips.
"Omikuji… fortune slips?"
They each drew one, even helping Yoshinon pick hers.
"Am I really that unlucky? I got… 'Great Misfortune'?" Shuo grimaced, then looked to Yoshino.
"Great Fortune!" Yoshino chirped, holding up her slip with a beaming smile.
"Hehe, Yoshinon got Great Fortune too! Why's Shuo the only one with bad luck? That's rough~"
Shuo could only sigh. The goddess of luck was standing right next to him, apparently.
Yoshino and Yoshinon tucked their lucky slips away to take home. Shuo, under their watchful eyes, tied his 'Great Misfortune' to the shrine rope—hoping to leave the bad luck behind.
As the evening breeze picked up, they sat side by side on a bench, Yoshino's hand small and warm in his. Even after all this time, she still blushed and looked away whenever he caught her gaze.
The sunset bathed their faces in gold.
"Shuo, today was so much fun," Yoshinon declared.
"Oniichan, thank you for playing with me," Yoshino added softly.
"I should be thanking you two," Shuo replied, squeezing her hand. "This was one of the best days I've had in a long time."
They walked home together, laughter trailing behind them.
Not long after they left, Mayuri appeared at the shrine. She stepped onto the stone steps where Shuo and Yoshino had played, looking up at the sky. Her earrings shimmered—now a cold, icy blue.
