"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 246: The Ultimate Supreme Date

The next morning, Shuo arrived early at the fountain, the city still quiet and dew-fresh. He checked his watch, half-expecting Kaguya to be late.

"Shuo! Sorry—did I keep you waiting?"

He looked up. Kaguya hurried toward him, a black shoulder bag slung over her shoulder, cheeks flushed from rushing. She stopped, hands on her knees, catching her breath.

"Sorry, I spent ages picking out what to wear. It's our first real date, after all. So… how do I look? Is it weird?"

She straightened, smoothing her black dress and fiddling with the vivid red bow at her collar, eyes searching his.

Shuo's lips curled into a grin. "You look amazing, Kaguya. It suits you perfectly."

"Really?!" Her face lit up, excitement coloring her cheeks. "That's… that's great!"

"Ready to get started?" he asked.

"Absolutely!" Without another word, Kaguya slipped her arm through his, pressing close. Shuo could feel the warmth of her, the subtle scent of her perfume—delicate, a little daring.

He glanced down, catching the blush blooming across her face.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" she teased, voice low. "Falling for my charms already, Shuo?"

She leaned in, eyes sparkling, smile playful. Shuo couldn't help but laugh.

"Careful, Kaguya. Don't tempt me." He slipped his hand from her arm and wrapped it around her waist, pulling her in.

Kaguya froze, wide-eyed at the public display. For a heartbeat, she looked like she might panic—but then she relaxed into his embrace, a bashful smile tugging at her lips.

Their banter faded into comfortable conversation as they strolled, the date unfolding with all the awkwardness and sweetness of first love.

Or it would have, if not for the four not-so-inconspicuous "tails" trailing behind them.

"So this is where Kaguya picked for the meetup," Tohka whispered, scribbling notes in a tiny notebook.

Yoshino peered around, concern in her blue eyes. "Is it really okay for us to follow them like this?"

"It's fine, Yoshino," Yoshinon reassured, waving a tiny paw. "As long as we don't interrupt, it's not against the rules!"

Yuzuru dabbed at imaginary tears with a handkerchief. "Moved: Kaguya is adorable. No more 'idiot Kaguya' from now on."

Origami, watching the couple disappear down the street, murmured, "I'll need to revise my plan."

"So, Kaguya, you're in charge today. Where to first?" Shuo asked, arm still around her waist.

Kaguya beamed, confidence restored. "I did my research last night! First, a French restaurant for brunch. Then, we hit this super-popular billiards bar."

Shuo nodded, impressed by her planning.

They navigated winding streets until Kaguya stopped in front of a narrow alley. At the end stood… a ramen shop.

"Um… this is the French restaurant?" Shuo asked, eyebrow raised.

Kaguya's smile faltered. She fumbled in her bag, pulling out a dog-eared guidebook. "It's supposed to be here… How did this happen?"

Shuo chuckled. "It's fine. With you dressed up like this, even ramen feels gourmet."

"Don't tease me!" Kaguya muttered, cheeks burning, but she followed him inside.

The ramen was good, if a little meager. Kaguya didn't mind—one bowl was just enough.

Back outside, she grabbed his hand, determined. "Next stop. This time, it'll be perfect—promise!"

But as they rounded the corner, her face fell. The "billiards bar" had vanished, replaced by a neon-lit arcade.

"How…? The most popular billiards bar in town, just gone?"

Shuo squeezed her hand. "Honestly, a bar's not really our style. But an arcade? That sounds fun."

Before Kaguya could object, he led her inside. The place buzzed with lights and laughter, rows of games beckoning.

Kaguya's disappointment faded as she explored. Soon, she was darting from game to game, her competitive streak shining through.

Then she spotted it—a claw machine with a plush gray cat inside. Her eyes sparkled. She attacked the machine with single-minded determination, burning through coin after coin. No luck.

Defeated, she sighed, forehead pressed against the glass. "So close…"

Shuo stepped up beside her. "Let me try. I'm something of a claw machine expert."

She blinked. "Really?"

He grinned, feeding a coin into the slot. "Most of these machines are rigged, you know. But I've got a few tricks up my sleeve."

He maneuvered the claw with practiced ease, lined up the shot, and—on the first try—snagged the cat plushie. It tumbled into the chute.

Kaguya's face lit up as he handed it to her. "For you."

"Thank you, Shuo!" she squealed, hugging the plushie to her chest, eyes crinkling with joy.

"Anytime. Dating a girl as cute as you and winning prizes? Feels like I hit the jackpot."

Kaguya's blush deepened. "D-don't say things like that…"

The rest of the afternoon passed in a blur of games, laughter, and stolen glances. When they grew tired, they found a quiet corner, sharing snacks and sweets.

"Kind of funny, isn't it?" Kaguya mused, nibbling a cookie. "My perfect date turned out to be ramen and arcade games."

Shuo leaned back, smiling. "I had a blast. And as for your other plans—let's save them for next time."

She looked at him, eyes shining. "Yeah… I'd like that."

From across the arcade, a blonde girl watched them quietly, unreadable.

By evening, Shuo and Kaguya found themselves at the front door, hands still entwined.

"Thanks for today, Kaguya. I never thought a date could be this much fun."

Kaguya hesitated, then stopped. She turned to face him, a little shy, a little vulnerable.

"Um, Shuo… There's something I should tell you."

She dug in her bag and pulled out a battered dating guidebook. "I… wasn't sure how to plan a date, so I just followed this. I'm sorry if it wasn't what you expected."

Shuo gathered her into his arms, looking into her eyes. "Don't apologize. I had a great time. That's what makes it the ultimate, supreme date."

She smiled, radiant in the glow of the sunset. Their shadows merged on the pavement, two silhouettes becoming one.

That night, Kaguya sprawled on the sofa, hugging her cat plushie, a goofy grin plastered across her face. The other girls watched, expressions ranging from bemusement to envy.

"Wow, Kaguya's been like this since she got home," Tohka observed.

"Ara~ Kaguya looks so happy," Miku teased.

"Envious: Kaguya's date seems to have been a success. I must consult Master Origami for further strategy," Yuzuru mused.

"I can't lose, either," Tohka declared, dashing off to revise her own plan.

The competition was far from over.
