"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 241: Origami's Masterstroke—The Bunny Girl Gambit
Yuzuru lay sprawled across the bed, fast asleep, her breathing soft and even. Shuo lingered for a moment, still dazed by how the night had turned out.
Was Yuzuru really drunk, or had she just pretended? Hard to say. Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe Kaguya's "first kiss" jab had scrambled her circuits—those twins had been rivals since the cradle, after all.
Still, credit where it's due: for someone trained by Origami, Yuzuru's kissing game was shockingly bold. The memory drifted through Shuo's mind, his gaze lingering—just for a second—on the sleeping girl's soft, parted lips.
Nope. Not going there. He shook himself out of the daydream. He had other things to do.
He'd barely stepped out into the hallway before a hand clamped over his mouth. He was yanked unceremoniously into a nearby bedroom.
Am I about to lose my innocence here?!
"Mmmph—mmph!"
He played along, feigning panic, wriggling just enough to make it convincing, even letting out a muffled, "Help!" for good measure.
Origami blinked at him, thrown off by his unexpected cooperation. After a heartbeat, she relaxed, releasing her hold. There was a glint of determination in her eyes—a resolve that said she'd made up her mind, no matter what it took, she wasn't letting him slip away.
Origami had always known her rivals were legion: Tohka, Kurumi, Miku, even Yoshino. At first, she'd thought only she and Tohka had a real claim on Shuo's heart. But now? Two more had joined the fray—and they were twins, no less. Plus, Shido's feelings for Shuo were getting harder to ignore. The threat level had officially reached DEFCON 1.
Something had to be done.
So, like any modern girl in crisis, Origami had taken to the internet.
Question: What do you do when your boyfriend is a shameless flirt, attracting girls left and right?
The answers were… eclectic.
Lock him in a dark room. Beat him up, then dump him.
Or, from the yandere crowd: break his limbs, chain him up, keep him by your side forever.
The "chain him up" option was tempting, but Origami was realistic—Shuo's strength made that a nonstarter. As for breaking limbs… she'd considered it, but couldn't bring herself to try, and probably couldn't pull it off anyway.
That left only one option.
Origami, master tactician, felt no shame. If staking her claim meant being bold, then bold she would be.
She'd even found the advice online oddly logical.
Sure, the first time she and Tohka had teamed up against Shuo, it ended in total disaster. But that was before—back when she was just a normal human, all nerves and no experience. Now she was a Spirit, her power and confidence both amped up. Tonight, she'd pretended to be drunk, nudged Tohka into drinking, and waited for her moment.
This was it.
With a dramatic flourish, Origami let the bedroom door slam shut behind them. Shuo spun—and nearly swallowed his tongue.
Standing before him was Origami, clad in a custom-tailored bunny girl outfit. Black velvet ears perched atop her head, long legs hugged by fishnet stockings, the outfit hugging every curve in ways that left nothing to the imagination.
"I had this made just for you," she said, voice perfectly flat, but eyes searching his face for a reaction. "Do you like it?"
Since last time, Origami had done her homework. She knew exactly what pushed Shuo's buttons—and she'd ordered this limited-edition bunny suit online, just for tonight.
"If you don't like it," she added, "I can always switch to my Astral Dress mode…"
She was throwing out every temptation she had, totally unaware just how effective her efforts were.
Elsewhere in the villa, a few girls found themselves tossing and turning, unable to sleep for reasons they couldn't quite name.
—
Hours later, Shuo was in full "sage mode"—mind clear, body exhausted, and more than a little impressed.
Origami truly lived up to her reputation. She knew his tastes almost too well, and her determination was downright overwhelming.
After a hot shower, just as Shuo was about to slip away, Origami caught his wrist. She didn't say a word—just looked at him, eyes shining with something like longing.
He smiled gently, brushing a lingering blush from her cheek.
"I'll go make you some chicken soup. Be right back, okay?"
"…Mm."
Only then did Origami release him, watching him go with a look that was equal parts satisfaction and frustration.
As soon as he was out of sight, Origami's face twisted in annoyance. She bit her lip, unwilling to admit defeat. After all that effort, she'd still lost?! Even worse than the first time—a total rout!
—
Scene shift: Shuo in the kitchen, prepping a black-bone chicken from the fridge. He worked quickly, simmering up a restorative soup.
When it was ready, he carried the bowl to Origami's bedside. She looked utterly spent, eyes half-lidded, but managed a tiny smile.
"Drink this while it's warm," he said, setting the bowl down.
"Okay."
With her lying down, there was really only one way to feed her. Shuo gently spooned the soup, holding it to her lips, patiently coaxing her to finish every last drop.
Afterward, Origami gazed up at him, her expression softening into a real smile.
"This way, we'll never be apart again."
"That's right. But for now, we should get some sleep."
He smoothed her hair, then slid under the covers beside her, pulling her close.
"Good night, Origami."
"Mm. Good night."
She pressed her cheek to his chest, her breathing slowing as she drifted off—finally, truly at peace.
