"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 240: Drunken Girls and a Night of Surprises
It started with a toast. Then another. And another.
"Come on, Shuo, drink with me!"
Nia, grinning from ear to ear, shoved a can into his hand. Kaguya, Kurumi, Origami—one by one, the girls lined up, each insisting on a round with him. Even Kotori and Yoshino got in on the action. Before long, Shuo had shared a drink with every girl at the party.
He should have been flat on his back. But with his absurd constitution, the alcohol barely registered. He didn't even feel a buzz.
The others, however, weren't so lucky.
Seeing Shuo still perfectly sober, Nia pouted. The girls exchanged glances, a silent conspiracy forming. If one round wouldn't do it, maybe five would.
They kept pouring, kept toasting, determined to see him tipsy at least once. But after several more rounds, Shuo was still as steady as ever—while the girls had devolved into a giggling, swaying mess.
"Hic… Shuo, let's… keep drinking…"
"I… I can't… drink any more…"
"Uu… you pervert… how are you… not drunk yet?"
"Hehe… Shuo, look at all the pretty stars…"
A few, like Sawa, managed to keep their wits. She'd stopped after two cans, cheeks only faintly pink, the picture of self-restraint.
The seafood barbecue raged on until nearly half past eight. By then, the lightweight drinkers—Tohka, Kotori, Kurumi, and most of the others—had toppled like dominoes, scattered across the patio in various states of unconsciousness.
Shuo surveyed the battlefield with a sigh.
A bunch of lightweights, all determined to outdrink me. Told them not to go so hard, but would they listen? Now look at you—out cold.
He couldn't help but notice Kurumi, for all her mystique, was no better off than Tohka. Two cans and she was giggling at the moon.
With the help of the still-sober girls, Shuo started ferrying the casualties back to their rooms.
He scooped Tohka into his arms, princess-style. For all her impressive curves, she weighed almost nothing—curled up like a kitten, nuzzling into his chest and sighing contentedly in her sleep.
The softness pressed against him sent a ripple of heat through his chest, but he forced himself to focus. He tucked her into bed, set the AC just right, draped a light blanket over her, and slipped out.
He'd barely made it back to the barbecue before something slammed into him.
"Hey… Shuo, let's… keep drinking…"
Orange hair glowed in the moonlight, and the slurred, tsundere whine was unmistakable—Kaguya. She was swaying, barely upright, but still stubbornly clutching a half-empty can.
"Kaguya, you've had enough. You're wasted."
She pouted, voice thick with childish bravado. "I'm not drunk! I'm a child of the hurricane! I can't get drunk!"
She clung to his arm, her usual haughtiness replaced by a drunken, adorable whine.
"Shuo, from now on, you're mine. All mine."
"Hic… but don't worry. I'll… I'll take really good care of you. Promise…"
When did I become your property? Shuo rubbed his forehead, exasperated.
He glanced around. Nia had already disappeared, probably asleep somewhere. Yoshino, cheeks flushed, was being half-carried by Origami. Sawa and Kurumi were leaning on each other, making their way inside. Shido was helping Mana, who'd been the first to pass out—she'd taken the brunt of the drinking to spare Shido.
Even in her sleep, Mana mumbled, "Let go… if there's trouble, come at me, not at Sis…"
Sisterly devotion, even in a drunken stupor. Shuo shook his head, equal parts touched and amused.
"Hey… Shuo, why are you ignoring me?"
Kaguya's voice cut through his thoughts, now thick with drunken petulance.
"Shuo, you're so mean. After everything you've done to me… now you ignore me…"
Hey, hey, let's not rewrite history here. All I did was help you with sunscreen, hold you, maybe a kiss or two… Okay, maybe that's not nothing.
Before he could reply, another arm snaked around his.
"Reminder: Shuo does not belong to Kaguya. Shuo belongs to Yuzuru."
That flat, declarative tone—Yuzuru, of course.
He was grateful for the backup, but…
When did I become yours, either?
Before he could protest, Kaguya latched onto his other arm.
"Even if I made up with Yuzuru, I'm still going to be the main wife!"
"Objection: Kaguya is a child and unfit for the role. Main wife should be Yuzuru, the elder sister."
"You're not the elder sister!"
"…"
Didn't they just make up? Why are they fighting again?
Shuo opened his mouth, but before he could get a word in, both girls slumped against him, fast asleep—each clinging tightly to an arm.
Well, at least they're quiet now.
He gently extricated his arms, careful not to jostle them too much, but still managed to brush against soft curves, earning a pair of sleepy, contented sighs.
He was just about to leave when Yuzuru suddenly sat up, eyes half-lidded, and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Without warning, her lips pressed against his.
Shuo hesitated for a split second—then let her kiss him, tasting the faint bitterness of beer on her lips.
The kiss lingered, long enough for the world to fade away. When they finally parted, Yuzuru's face had lost its usual blankness, replaced by a soft, almost mischievous smile.
"Confirmed: Kaguya can't complain now. Yuzuru's first kiss belongs to Shuo. That means… Shuo belongs to Yuzuru."
And with that, she collapsed backward onto the bed, out cold.
Shuo stood there a moment, heart pounding, then shook his head with a helpless smile.
What a night.
